"Milne Painting is the best painting company I have ever used and I have used a lot of them over the years. They are prompt, painted without overspray, filled all cracks in our stucco, and were affordable. If you are wanting the best quality painter, you need to call Milne! "We recently had Mega Power Electric Inc install a solar system and panels. The President and provided excellent communication all the way through the process. He even met with us after installation to explain the almost incomprehensible PG&E bill. Although not the least expensive bid, his was competitive and I felt he was as interested in educating me about solar and the various types of panels and inverter systems as he was in selling a system. He demonstrated how the array of panels would meet our energy needs and as opposed to some of the other companies, wasn't selling us more than we needed. We are very satisfied with our solar system and I highly recommended Mega Power Electric Inc."

"The work was excellent. The project was completed in the exact time frame that I was told when I hired them. I had numerous estimates given and M&W charged me a third of what had been quoted by other contractors. AND THEY QUOTED ME FIRST. They were also kind enough to work in a few other small projects I hadnt previously planned. The owner William is very professional and his crew is as well. They did a wonderful job and I will definitely call them first before any other contractor when I'm ready for more work in the future!"

Stucco questions, answered by experts

The decision to repair or replace stucco depends on the extent of the damage. For minor issues like small cracks, holes, dirt, stains, or discoloration, a repair is typically sufficient and more cost-effective. These issues can often be resolved with a simple repair, a deep clean, and possibly a new coat of paint. However, for more significant problems such as large cracks, peeling, mold, algae, or structural water damage, a replacement might be necessary. In these cases, it is best to call a professional stucco contractor for an inspection. An expert can assess the severity of the damage, determine if there are deeper issues, and advise whether a repair is adequate or if replacing a section or an entire wall is the more cost-effective, long-term solution.

Homeowners insurance may cover the cost of siding repair or replacement, but coverage depends on the cause of the damage. Most policies will cover damage from a covered event, such as a storm, wind, hail, fire, natural disaster, or other impact damage. Your policy might pay for the full or partial cost of the repair or replacement. However, damage resulting from age, general wear and tear, or neglect is typically not covered, and you should expect to pay for those repairs out of pocket. It is best to review your specific homeowners insurance policy for full details on what is covered, how to file a claim, and what documentation is required.

DIY is possible for small cracks or patches. Professional services ensure proper texture and color matching.

Masonry screws are the best option to be used on stucco. They’re thicker and made to penetrate harder surfaces like concrete and cinder blocks. Fluted masonry screws work the best because they create a stronger grasp thanks to the lines on their shafts. If you’re working on exterior stucco, use galvanized screws to prevent corrosion.

When hiring for your project, look for licensed, insured contractors with experience in stucco removal. Ask them for references, review their past stucco removal projects, and request detailed, written estimates. A reputable stucco removal contractor will explain the entire process, outline all costs, and ensure proper disposal and compliance with local codes.
