Ridgeway Construction Inc is a family owned and operated General B licensed construction company serving the Greater Sacramento area. We specialize in decks, siding, dry rot repairs and remodels but as a General B Licensed Contractor - CSLB Lic. 1083145 - we do everything from fencing, painting, and concrete to French drains and everything in-between whether it's big or small. We do most of the work ourselves and, whether it's our own crew on the job or one of our personally vetted subcontractors, our GC Mike physically oversees all work to ensure consistency of excellence and even puts on his own bags. If you happen to have a project outside of our wheelhouse, or if we feel like we are not a good fit, we will always point you in the right direction. Give us a call today, we look forward to earning your business!

"Excellent he took care of all of my concerns and was able to tackle a project that other handymen would not even return my calls for. Thanks"

Geico Builders specializes in meeting your expectations before, during, and after the project is complete. Our most upstanding quality is our accountability--you can expect us to own the work we complete for your home. Of course, we know accountability means nothing without proof, which is why we are happy to offer a 2-year workmanship warranty to all of our clients. This is a rare quality for this industry, but we wanted to prove to you that we stand by our craftsmanship through our home remodeling construction services. Every Crew at Geico Builders has been professionally trained and will treat your home with integrity and respect.

"We used Geico Builders for our bathroom remodel. We collected a few quotes, and we felt like the quote for the value was the best. I appreciated the clear scope and payment schedule. We started with a tiny bathroom and had plans to remove a couple of walls to make it larger. Leading up to demo day, our project manager Mila and the team pulled permits and helped us understand which finishes/materials we needed to order. I had a clear idea of our design vision, so I didn't need a lot of assistance there, but I found the 3D rendering helpful to see. Our project took a little over 5 weeks. The foreman David and crew did a great job. I was many specific requests, and I felt like David always did his best to incorporate my requests. We had a few hiccups, as with any project. We ran out of tile, which caused a small delay. The crew also misplaced some of our shower fixtures and we had to reorder them. The team was able to cover the cost of these, which I appreciated. I liked how we had a group to stay on top of updates. There were times when I would have liked more communication regarding the crew's schedule, delays, etc. but overall, I felt like my questions were always answered. Love my new bathroom, thank you."

Earthquake Retrofitting questions, answered by experts

Almost all new buildings in California need an earthquake shut-off valve. The requirements for an earthquake gas shut-off valve (and who can install it) depend on where you live. For example, according to the Los Angeles Municipal Code, you’re required to hire a licensed contractor to install one whenever you build, sell, or renovate a home. Check with your local building department for your city’s laws on installing, permitting, and inspecting earthquake shut-off valves.

An earthquake retrofit is essential for safety in an earthquake-prone area. Without proper retrofitting, your home is at risk of sliding off the foundation, shifting, or collapsing.

You may also require a retrofit if your home was built before 1980 when building codes began requiring reinforcing, bracing, and bolting for new construction. You may not be eligible for insurance to help pay for earthquake-related damages without a retrofit.

A home with proper earthquake retrofitting can sustain minimal damage in earthquakes of up to 7.0 magnitude, although risks are higher based on how close and deep the earthquake is. A home closer to the earthquake epicenter will sustain greater damage, especially if the earthquake is closer to the surface of the Earth, but retrofitting can help minimize the risk of injuries.

Depending on where you live, your insurance company may require you to have a seismic shut-off valve. It depends on local regulations along with the specific provider. If it’s not a requirement, many providers will offer a discount if you install an earthquake valve, which can save you 5% or more. Contact your provider to learn about potential savings for your plan.

Ensure proper ventilation, fix leaks, and schedule regular pest inspections to protect your property.
