"Max and his team at Twin Peaks Metal did a fantastic job from measurements to completion in 2 weeks for a custom gate and 80 feet of wrought iron fencing. The workmanship is beyond great with excellent welds to top notch installation with powder coating. Maxâ s prices were also very competitive and I will certainly use him again if I need any additional metal or fencing work in the future. Thanks Max, Devin, and Garret for a job well done! ð ð »"

"James was exceptionally professional and polite and did an outstanding job on the rails that he installed in my house with both the backyard and the front. He’s a perfectionist and I will hire him and re-hire him over and over and recommend him over and over. Very humble and a very soulful human being. I give him 10 stars not five. Thank you, James for the wonderful professional job. :)"

"Mello Welding is terrific. I received a call back and a quick estimate. The work to cut out a rusty section of railing and weld a new section in place was professionally completed on time. I really appreciated how quickly they responded. Very satisfied."

"As soon as the contract was signed, Rick scheduled the work quickly. He came with his workers and remeasured everything. We discussed the design and he gave me some catalogues to look at designs. I selected a combination of two designs. Rick and I discussed the finish on the railings and I selected black. The railings were installed. There were a total of three different steps, each different from one another. The railings in the front of the house needed to curve with the conture of the steps. One other was just a straight forward design which was straight. The final set went in an area where I plant my vegetables. The railing needed to be spaced so I could still have access to work in the garden yet allow safety on some very steep steps. The work was completed within a few days after starting. When the final coat of paint was finished I was not completely satisfied with the finish. Rick came to inspect the work and was not satisfied either. He sent the painters back to sand and repaint all the railings. He suggested instead of the black an antique bronze might be a better choice for color. He was right. I was very pleased with the final paint.
Rick has completed several projects for me and I have been very satisfied with all the work.
I will call him again when I am ready for my next project.

Welding is the process of using extreme heat—and, sometimes, pressure—to attach two pieces of metal. In contrast, metal fabrication is a more involved process that can include welding, sheet metal work, bending, and other forms of metal manipulation. Metal fabrication is a large-scale project that may or may not involve welding, while welding is more often a step in larger fabrication projects.
The average cost to hire a welder is about $300, with an average rate ranging from $65 to $125 per hour, depending on their experience and the project type and size. Aside from labor costs, some other charges you’ll need to pay include the cost of the welding material and the cost of the shielding gas that makes welding possible and safe. When you’re interviewing welders for your work, you can ask for an estimate based on your project specifics. In some simple cases, like welding gas lines or common welding projects, local welders may charge a flat hourly rate with add-ons if necessary.
There are a few things you can ask welders before you hire them to get an idea of their experience and ability levels:
Are you licensed and certified?
How long have you been in the welding business?
Do you commonly do the type of welding I need?
Do you offer any kind of warranty for your work?
Do you charge by the hour or by the project?
How long do you expect my welding project to take?
What steps do you take to minimize errors in your work?
You should not do your own welding unless you have the proper training and experience. Most home electrical systems can only handle MIG welding, which creates weaker bonds than TIG welding and won’t work on certain metals or metal thicknesses. Both welding forms usually require the use of shielding gas, which can be dangerous to store at home. Additionally, welding machines create temperatures of over 3,000 degrees, and the sparks can blind you if you don’t have the proper equipment. As such, it’s usually better to hire a professional welder for your welding projects.
Some states require welders to be licensed and certified, while others don’t. However, it’s always a good idea to hire a licensed welder, regardless of requirements in your area, especially if you need welding for structural components of your home or gas lines. Licensed welders have gone through training and testing to prove their skills, so they’re less likely to make a mistake that could be detrimental to your home. Use Angi’s state licensing tool to determine whether your potential hire has a welding license.
