There are two ways to determine which renovation will add the most value to a house. Late fall is generally the best time of year for installing stucco siding. We don’t recommend hiring a stucco pro to apply this feature when the temperatures are below freezing, so it’s best to avoid applying stucco siding to your home during the winter. However, it’s safe to apply in hot and colder temperatures, so any other time of year is suitable. The spring and summer are the busiest times of year for stucco siding professionals, so you could save money by doing the work in the off-season: the late fall.

Costs depend on project size, material quality, and additional services like color matching or texture customization.

You can apply stucco to wood by wrapping it with grade D waterproof paper, installing trim accessories such as metal lath, control joints, weep screeds, casing beads, and expansion joints, and applying the stucco in three layers. You’ll need a scratch coat, brown coat, and finish coat, all applied with a trowel and screeded with a darby or straight edge. Each should cure for two days before you apply the next one.

Installing stucco over brick can add longevity and durability to your siding while protecting it from deterioration due to exposure to the elements. However, stucco over brick does have a few downsides. You’ll spend more time and money on maintenance and repairs, and your siding may be more susceptible to cracking.
