"A+ to Custom Paint Service. They do excellent work. We bought a new home and Julio came over on a Friday and gave me a quote to paint the walls a more modern gray color. I had read their 5 star reviews, he said his crew was available on Monday so I hired them on the spot. I was impressed that a crew of so many painters arrived. They worked quickly together as a team and did a quality job. We didn't plan on painting the kitchen cabinets too but Julio did a test sample and we were totally blown away. They are experts at painting cabinets and they look like brand new. Now I have my dream kitchen with white cabinets! Julio and Susy are great communicators and respond quickly when contacted. If you want a professional, licensed service that has fair prices and does quality work then hire this company. Thank you Custom Paint Service."

Small jobs welcome

"I hate being condescended to. Listen to what I want and then give suggestions on how I might be able to work that out in my kitchen. Don't just tell me it can't be done. I felt like I was wasting my time. I asked about a particular type of closet (not realizing it was part of a bigger cabinet...how would I know) and she told me to follow her (using her finger to me like a child) and said I couldn't have it because it was as part of a bigger piece. She could have just said that. I said if I can't make my kitchen more "usable" (less wasted space), WHY to with custom cabinets. I could just reface. The woman behind me who was waiting to ask her a question said. Listen, if you can't get what you want, I don't blame you for not spending the money. It's easy to reface. So, I called another company and, low and behold, I'm getting partial refacing and partial custom cabinets. He came and we discussed HOW I could get my carousel cabinet (uh - he suggested I go from a double to a single sink - easy peasy) AND, he came in at half the price your website suggested I might pay. It is really nice to be listened to...especially when it's MY money I'm spending."

Kitchen Cabinet Refacing FAQs, answered by experts

If you're looking for ways to save money on custom cabinets, there are a few ways to cut costs without sacrificing beauty. For starters, comparing door styles to choose the most cost-effective option is a great way to save money on the overall project.

In addition, choosing a common wood species versus an exotic one will lower the price. Woods like oak and hickory are often more affordable wood choices, and the same goes for knobs, pulls, and other finishes where picking a commonly available style can reduce costs.

No, in most cases, you do not have to remove your countertops to reface cabinets. Since refacing primarily involves updating the doors, drawer fronts, and exterior surfaces, your existing countertops can usually stay right where they are, making the process quicker and less disruptive. However, if your counters prevent the access needed to remove doors and drawers, they may need to be temporarily removed. It's best to consult with a professional cabinet contractor to assess your specific kitchen layout during an estimate.

Refinishing cabinets requires sanding and restoring them with paint, lacquer, or stain. Refacing cabinets involves removing and replacing existing cabinet doors and hardware. Refacing cabinets can be more costly. Refacing cabinets typically costs between $4,500 to $10,600.

Yes, refacing old kitchen cabinets is doable as long as the cabinet boxes are still structurally sound. Refacing works best when the framework is in good condition, allowing you to update the doors, drawer fronts, and exterior surfaces without a full replacement.

No, and that’s why adding kitchen cabinets to the ceiling is popular! Whether you match the color of your existing cabinets or not, you can still paint your cabinet boxes with them attached to the wall—making this project much less invasive.
