California Custom Wood Beams

California custom beams created by Woodland Custom Beams can be a fine touch to finish off that rustic look. Decorative beams can pose a few problems in the years to come. The biggest problem is that beams are made from wood. Wood naturally holds moisture. Over time the moisture will leave the wood and may cause possible twisting, warping and cracking of your custom beams. This is something that no one wants to happen after spending money and time making their home beautiful. There are beams made with one inch stock and are indistinguishable from the conventional wood beam. Woodland Custom Box beams have a unique jointing process which allows the beam to be made in any size. With traditional wood beams you are limited to the size of the tree it is cut from. The box beams are natural looking and the joints will not need to be covered with straps due to the seamless joint process. They are also lighter in weight than traditional beams. The beams come in a variety of woods. There is Poplar, Cedar and Alder to choose from. There is no limit on the possibilities of designs with these woods.

Carpentry questions, answered by experts

Duration varies by project size, but average-sized homes typically take a weeks.

Costs depend on carport size, wood type, complexity of design, and labor for custom features. They typically start at $3,000 and extend beyond concrete thresholds.

Enhances property value, ensures safety, and provides a sound basis for future construction.

Framing most homes takes anywhere between five and eight weeks to complete. You’ll need to account for inclement weather conditions, material shipment times, the number of crew members, and the weight of your materials. If the weather is too hot, wet, or cold for the installation, this process could take closer to eight weeks.

Bump-out additions can add some space to a closet without requiring any significant structural work. This entails pushing back the existing rear or side of the closet, simply moving the wall into either an adjacent room or unused space. For ground-floor closets, this could even be extended to the exterior of the home, but that has its own complications. Bump-outs are a good discussion to have with your contractor if you’re just looking to increase the space a little—not renovate the entire closet space.
