"Great communication between us, my thoughts and design were totally understood. From the start Vic help with my decisions, everything, the dismantling of old rotten shade structure, and organizing the color Concrete crew. He called and was very professional with his approach to project . Honest, prepared, worked all days. A really good fair price, my wife and I are very happy with the entire experience. I'd recommend Central Builders to any friends and Family."

"We hired McQueen Construction to remodel our two story home. This was a big project that we planned about 5 years for. We interviewed 12 contractors during that time and ultimately chose Scott's company. Some of the reasons included that our friends and their family used Scott on a similar scope job and they were happy with their experience. Scott's price was fair and competitive. Some of the larger companies have a ton of overhead that we ultimately would have paid for. The larger companies, with their bigger crews, would have likely finished our job quicker but I am not sure the attention to detail would have been the same. We liked that McQueen is a local family-owned business who was flexible with what we were wanting to do. They didn't come in saying this is how is has to be done. My wife, kids, and I lived at the house during the remodel (not sure if we would do that again) :) Scott and his crew accommodated us really well. Communication is key with any construction project. I did find myself asking a lot of questions and being sure Scott, his subs, and I were on the same page. This was not a bad thing, it was merely what I came to understand as the best way to work with Scott and his guys. In my opinion, you cannot over communicate with your contractor. If you assume things are going to be done a certain way, your contractor might have something else in mind. That leaves room for error and frustration. I appreciated how Scott was receptive to my questions and being sure things were done how we were expecting. Scott and his guys also asked us a lot of questions so that the job turned out like we wanted. It was a really good partnership. Most of Scott's subs were very good. Great people and great quality work. I did use some of my own subs and Scott seamlessly integrated them into the work flow. We found Scott to be very responsive to any calls, texts, emails before, during, after the project was completed. We are thrilled with how our house turned out! It is a total transformation and exceeded our expectations. We would hire McQueen Construction again and have recommended them to our friends."

"It Went very well. He and his crew were prompt, even coming later when asked. The product was beautiful, a shiny lightly pattered white flooring which added much to our kitchen. Guy is friendly, communicates well, asked our opinion when needed. Will hire again."

"?????????? Absolutely Perfect Roof ? Couldn?t Be Happier! We had an incredible experience with this roofing company from start to finish. From the very first call to the final clean-up, the entire process was smooth, professional, and stress-free. I can't say enough about this company! We made the switch from tile to a stunning new composition roof, and the transformation is unbelievable. Not only does it look amazing?it also gives our home a fresh, modern look. The crew was punctual, respectful. They took the time to explain the process, answered all our questions, and kept the work area clean every step of the way. What really impressed us was the attention to detail. Every shingle was placed perfectly, the lines are clean, and the finish is flawless. You can tell they take great pride in their work, and it shows. Even our neighbors have commented on how great the new roof looks! They even worked out an inhouse payment plan with us!"

"We hired Joe to do a very large project which included a major kitchen remodel, building a 400 sq foot vaulted addition with skylights, flooring across the entirety of the main space, full 1000 square foot trex deck with accommodation for a hot tub, and side patio. Joe is a 1 man shop. He did everything from framing, drywall, electrical, insulation, roofing, flooring, cabinet installation, and finish work. He was very easy to communicate with and worked with us on change orders as the project developed/progressed. Errors were very rare and quickly corrected when they occurred. This is our 2nd time hiring Joe for a big project and have hired him for other small projects. We would gladly have Joe work for us again on an y future project."

"We had Golden Crest remodel our bathroom and honestly couldn’t be happier. Robert was great to work with. He showed up when he said he would, communicated clearly, and paid close attention to the details. The work never felt rushed, and he made sure everything was done right. Our bathroom came out exactly how we wanted, and the whole process was smooth and stress-free. We really appreciated how respectful he was of our home and how easy he made everything. I’d definitely recommend Golden Crest and Robert to anyone looking for a bathroom remodel."

Subcontractors questions, answered by experts

When planning a general remodeling project, it's important to define the scope of work, understand your goals, and set a clear, detailed budget. You should also assess the current structure and consult with professionals like architects or contractors. Create a realistic timeline for each phase, obtain any necessary permits, and build in contingency plans for potential delays or unforeseen issues. Regular communication with all involved parties is crucial to streamline the process.

Regular meetings, reviewing drafts, and providing input on materials help align the project with your vision.

Dark academia is more of an interior decorating style than it is a type of architecture, but it calls on themes prevalent in gothic architecture. Part of the appeal of dark academia is that you can achieve the look and feel without renovating or remodeling your home. Instead, you can switch to a dark color palette and introduce metal, natural wood furniture, plaid decor, old books, and gothic decor to get the look and feel just right.

When you think about Arts and Crafts-style homes, you probably think of a Craftsman house or a bungalow-style Craftsman. Craftsman is one of the major styles developed during the Arts and Crafts movement, but it checks most boxes. Craftsman houses have low-pitched roofs, exposed rafters, open floor plans, and stunning wood finish.

Federal architecture is most common in urban areas throughout the New England states, including the older parts of New York, Pennsylvania (namely, Boston and Philadelphia), Maryland, Massachusetts, and Virginia. The style also dominated in parts of Georgia in the late 18th and early 19th centuries, so many historical homes in the area embody this home design. Salem, MA, has two historic districts that predominantly feature this architectural style: Chestnut Street District and the Salem Maritime National Historic Site.
