"Everything went as planned. Workers arrived on time, were polite and respectful of my home, cleaned up everyday. There was NO post acostic ceiling removal mess for me to clean like EVERYONE told me I would have! They were so meticulous with their taping off and covering that the entire job was painless for me. They worked around my schedule and were reasonable in their pricing. Matt Clark, owner, was easier to work with and cared very much that I was happy with the work. He provided me the name of an electrician(Summit Electric) that was equally as meticulous in his work. I am going to have Matt and his crew return in the future to do additional work for me."

"I hired MG Drywall to repair ceilings after doing electrical work. Miguel is great. He is very fast. Miguel and his crew did a lot of work. Hanging drywall, complete skim coat on the ceiling and texture. The results are great. Would never know any work was done. I highly recommend MG Drywall and would not hesitate to use them again. Thank you for a fantastic job"

Customers say: True professional

"Prime Drywall & Design patched a 3? square hole in the ceiling of one of our rooms which was left after remediation was completed in our attic from a pipe leak. Francisco responded to our inquiry & came to our house promptly. He was professional and explained what needed to be done to patch this hole. 2 days later his crew came & did a fine job of covering everything with plastic and then patching the hole. Francisco came the following day and sanded leaving the ceiling ready to paint. I highly recommend Prime Drywall &; Design."

Small jobs welcome

"Jose did a superior job putting up dry wall on my basement walls and in a long skylight my roofer installed. His work was painstaking and neat. He worked efficiently and completed my project as promised. Jose took care to cover the floors, and he inspected the floors once the project was complete. I am delighted with Joseâ s work and his attention to detail, and I will happily hire him again."

Popcorn Ceilings questions, answered by experts

Knockdown hides imperfections better than orange peel due to its thicker, more varied pattern. The valleys and peaks make flaws less visible under lighting. However, note that knockdown walls will collect more dust and dirt, so be prepared to wipe them away more frequently than you would with orange peel.

Popcorn ceilings have fallen out of popularity due to their outdated appearance, difficult maintenance, and potential health risks. Ceilings installed before the 1990s may contain asbestos, which poses a serious health hazard if disturbed. As design trends have shifted towards sleeker, more modern finishes, many homeowners now favor smoother ceilings that offer a cleaner look and easier upkeep.

However, popcorn ceilings do offer some benefits, such as acoustic dampening and the ability to hide imperfections. Some people also appreciate their retro charm or find them to be a cost-effective option. Ultimately, whether a popcorn ceiling is 'bad' depends on personal preference, safety concerns, and the overall aesthetic of the home.

Textured ceilings add visual interest and personality to a room, breaking away from the flat, uniform look of smooth ceilings. They are also practical, as the texture helps to hide imperfections, making them ideal for older homes or spaces prone to wear and tear. Textured ceilings come in a variety of patterns, giving homeowners the flexibility to choose a style that complements their design preferences, whether they want something subtle or more intricate. Additionally, certain textures can help with sound absorption, making rooms quieter and more comfortable.

After removing any type of skylight, you have a few options for the ceiling. You can patch and repair the ceiling to match the surrounding area, ensuring a smooth and seamless finish. Alternatively, you can install a light fixture or a ceiling fan in place of the skylight to maintain functionality and enhance the room's lighting and ventilation. Ultimately, the choice depends on your preferences and the specific requirements of the space. No matter what you choose, you’ll probably want to call in a pro to help.

The cost of application ranges from $1 to $3 per square foot, depending on the presence of asbestos and the difficulty of removal.
