"I recently used Kramer’s Home Improvements for a huge job. I called last minute to assess water damage and remove popcorn ceiling in my 3 year old son’s room. I called them in the late afternoon and asked if they could come that very day. Leo the owner went out of his way to make room in their schedule to accommodate me and made the appt for 5:30 that evening. Which is totally unheard of! Immediately Leo recognized the mold in the drywall and stated that this needed attention urgently. His lead guy Kenny and Jon came out to do the job of removing popcorn. They were totally professional and did such an amazing job. Clearly Kenny knew what he was doing and they worked swiftly and even vacuumed the room and took all the popcorn away before they left. I still have drywall work to do and unfortunately i have to go through the HOA to get it done because I’m sure that it could have been done by now though Kramer’s which would have been ideal. I cannot tell you how thrilled I am with this company. They went above and beyond for me because I was in a jam. I will be using them for more projects soon. Thank you Leo and Kenny….and Jon!"

"Carlos is a delightful person who is willing to work collaboratively and creatively. His rates are very reasonable and he is good at helping you fit your dream into your budget. He has a little trouble staying on top of complex work, especially when it involves subcontractors, but the wait is worth it. We are more than pleased with the extensive work he did for us and our landscaping is the envy of the neighborhood."

Holiday Decorating questions, answered by experts

No, you should not leave LED Christmas lights up all year. While the LED lights themselves are very durable, their wiring and casings can be as vulnerable as any Christmas lights. They’re subject to drying out, experiencing cold or sun damage that causes them to crack, and even damage caused by gnawing pests. (The same is true of incandescents.) If you want your lights to last the years that they’re rated for, bring them inside after Christmas is over.

Heavy amounts of snow could be a problem. In many climates, lots of snow on your rooftop can lead to freeze-thaw cycle that create ice dams, which can damage rooftops. But if you’re using shingle clips, this snow poses an additional problem: As it melts and freezes, it can easily dislodge clips you’ve placed on your roof.

You can clean snow off your roof after a fresh snowfall while it’s still lightweight, but brushing off snow can also dislodge your clips. If you get a lot of snow, then roof clips become less viable.

Take a picture of your house to easily replicate the same design for next year and keep the clips and accessories. When storing your lights, wrap them around cardboard so they don’t get tangled. Purchase a ladderless extension pole kit to hang your lights (around $30 to $50) for hard to reach areas.

The simplest way to put Christmas lights on any metal surface is by using a magnetic hook or clip. You can also purchase magnetic lights, which should easily stick to any magnetic surface. Keep in mind that not all metals are magnetic. In that case, you’ll need to use a different clip.

Yes, if your roof is in stable condition, you should be able to hang Christmas lights from the eaves. Hang Christmas light directly from the eaves for best results, using light clips or an alternative type of adhesive. When installing lights on your eaves, be sure to work carefully and avoid adding too much weight or pressure to them.
