Customers say: True professional

"We hired Nate to do carpet stretching and replace the carpet on the front porch for my 89 year old god mother. Nate was kind, considerate, polite, honest, timely, and charged less than the original quote. Workmanship was also excellent. My elderly god mother is very happy! We would/will definitely hire Nate again, and recommend him/his services."

"The salesman Luke was very professional. The contractors that were used to install the flooring tried to short cut the installation process towards the end but was caught. If I use Empire Carpet in the future I will be specific in telling the salesman what my expectations are of the installation contractors."

"It was a small job where carpeting needed to be installed in the hallway. I had the carpet and padding. Contacted Fausto Construction. Saul reached out to me within 24 hrs. Came by two days later, submitted quote and three days later the carpet was installed and looks amazing. Customer service was excellent both from Saul and his team. I will definitely reach out to Fausto Construction for future projects. Thank you Saul for making this project so easy for me."

Carpet Installation questions, answered by experts

In most cases, carpeting isn’t kind to the wood that it’s attached to. Most carpet installation uses adhesive or nailing strips, both of which will damage wood. Conversely, you can choose to use an adhesive designed to be removed from wood, in which case carpeting can actually protect your hardwood stairs.

When choosing whether to install carpet in your home, consider the pros and cons of this change:

Pros

  • More affordable than laminate flooring

  • Gives the room a warmer feel

  • Softer on feet

  • Wide variety of textures and colors

  • Hides dirt easily

  • Faster and easier to install

Cons

  • Shows wear and tear more quickly than laminate flooring

  • Shows stains

  • Soaks up liquids

  • May not work well in some areas, such as a bathroom

  • Less durable than laminate flooring

  • Susceptible to water damage, mold, and mildew

If you want your carpet to last as long as possible, then yes, you need to install carpet padding. Carpet padding creates a layer of protection between the back of your carpet and the floor beneath it, which decreases friction and reduces wear and tear. Aside from that, carpet padding also helps absorb noise and makes your carpet feel more comfortable underfoot.

Carpet installation typically starts with removing the old flooring, preparing the subfloor, laying underpadding for cushioning, and securing the new carpet with tack strips, making precise cuts to fit room dimensions.

Yes, carpeted stairs are generally considered safer than stairs with hard surfaces like wood, vinyl, or tile. Carpet provides more traction, which helps reduce the chances of slips and falls, and its cushioning can lessen the severity of an injury if a fall does occur. Hard surfaces often lack the friction needed for a secure tread and can be quite slippery.

However, it's worth noting that some carpets can also be slick, particularly if they are brand new, dirty, or made from certain materials. If any stair surface feels too slippery, traction treads can be added to most materials to increase grip and improve safety.
