"Pete from the Glass Store was swamped and wasn't able to get to my glass window repair in a timely manner. However he had his friends at Pennington's Glass do the work for him. Les from Pennington's came out to do the measurements and order the replacement glass. A week later the glass came in and Mike from Pennington's did the prep, install and clean up in about an hour. Thanks to Pete at the Glass Store and Les and Mike at Pennington's Glass for a job well done. I highly recommend them."

"We had 26 windows replaced, with three different experiences. First is the actual windows. They are awesome and well worth it in terms of noise reduction, temperature maintenance and appearance. The second was the installation. Overall excellent. Patrick and Julians craftsmanship was excellent. A little loose showing up when they said they would, but they finished on-time. Finally, was management and the process. The sales person glossed over a lot of the details on how they retrofit windows. He emphasized the quality of the product and their accuracy measuring and double checking. He did mention some reduction in the glass area because of the process. When I received the official quote it was several thousand over what he had shown me on site, he said it was not, I said to just send me a picture of the initial quote and it suddenly dropped back down. I had a lot of detailed questions along the way and I got the distinct sense that if you took them at their word they are great but when you question the details, their attitude definitely changes. Despite saying one of the owners would call me about my invoice questions, they used my detailed credit card information, including the security code, that they had kept, to charge my card and then he responded to my email. Begrudgingly I finally got all my questions answered but it was a painful process. Their tight tolerances boiled down the the industry standard of 1/4 inch all the way around, but no real explanation for those instances where there were gaps of up to 1.5 inches (it is complicated. but we know what we are doing..). The long narrow windows lost about 50% of their viewable area. And all the rounding down (the sizes measured by the sales person were over 10% larger than the actual windows delivered) were normal and did not affect the cost."

"Still deciding on who to use. Very nice person who took estimates. Seem very on top of things. Thank you. EDIT: FWIW The above review was written while the person giving the estimate was standing there asking me to give her a review. She was nice, but obviously a seasoned salesperson. She did attempt to hard-sell me a few times, and even pulled the "call my manager and get another 10% off" routine mentioned by others here... but again, I wasn't having any of it. Bottom line is that their lowest possible option came to an amount in excess of the "HIGH END" average here (for my area) by nearly two grand... and that was their lowest cost option. Let me be honest here... I live in a CB Homes tract house worth $165K on a good day... I was looking for a bath to shower conversion for mom who's been living with me and having troubles getting in the shower. I can't cough up money I would expect to pay for a full remodel of the bathroom (their high end and original estimate). And unfortunately I can't cough up nearly five digits for shower with glass door ... on the low end. I need a functional shower that looks as good as the original stock CB Homes tub... the bar isn't set too high. These folks are obviously for the higher end custom home. That's fine. I just wish the person on the phone when I called to make the appointment and TOLD HER my situation at least had the information to relay that the lowest my job was going to cost with glass door would be what it was. But whatever. I just felt I needed to correct the record here... especially after reading some of the other reviews. To summarize: The lady who appeared for the appointment was personable... she seemed to know what she w as doing... she also was obviously a sales professional and did employ some tactics to make the sale (not entirely unexpected of course)... and perhaps, if she had the flexibility to sell a lower end "non-custom" type product, we may have bought (but not right then regardless... these folks were the first people to come out and give and estimate and I NEVER buy anything based on a single estimate.)... but their lowest cost product was easily 2x the cost I was expecting going in (albeit admittedly a thoroughly informed expectation) ... I have another estimate that will be done Wednesday. I already spoke to the owner on the phone so as to not waste his time. I relayed some of this information to him in hopes to determine if he has any possible chance of meeting or exceeding the expectations I've developed (partly based on the averages available here on this site) and if it would be a waste of time for him to come by... the appointment is still set."

"To be clear on what I am being asked to rate .... Choice is asking me to rate the repair service man that showed up to repair - NOT their warranty service itself. These are two different things. I rate the repair man - high. The warranty company itself - ONE STAR. See they advertise this great warrantee .... but when you go to use it ..... in all the fine print .... they write themselves out of responsibility to take care of your problem so BE CAUTIOUS when choosing to purchase this warranty. I have had this warranty for two years ... never needed it. Then my microwave goes on the blink. Took three weeks to get a repair man to my house and a resolution which ended in basically a non- resolution. They opted to replace vs. repair .... somehow figured my microwave was 10 years old - which is a joke and in the wind gave me $191 to replace it - and this is after I paid the $65 service fee. This is for replacement and installation. See in item #9 of the contract it states they ARE responsible for ALL components (excepts handles, door glass, etc). BUT ... then in #16 it states they do not have to repair ... they can opt to offer replacement costs (THEIR supposed costs - which is NOT retail) so for my $319 microwave +$110 installation it is costing me to replace - They OPTED to give me $$191 minus my $65 service fee ..... which ends up being $123. This is a bunch of ********. They know it and I know it. SO .... if this is how they do on a microwave .... I can ONLY imaging what they will do on something big. So ..... I have zero confidence in this company at this point and as soon as this claim settles out - I receive my whopping $191 ... I plan to cancel this warranty and go with another home warranty company. Maybe they will appreciate my business because this one sure did not. They proved that on this small claim. I do t trust them to risk it if there happened to be a larger claim. Horrible is all I can say."

Glaziers questions, answered by experts

Once you’ve gotten any scuff marks, grime, and burn marks off your glass stovetop you can use vinegar to finalize the clean without leaving streaks. Just put some white vinegar in a spray bottle and spritz it onto the stovetop before wiping it in a consistent direction with a microfiber cloth.

You should dust your mirrors once every one to two weeks as a part of your normal cleaning routine, and you should plan on cleaning with a glass cleaner or DIY cleaning solution once a month or so. This will help reduce the buildup of hygiene products like hair spray on the mirror, as well as oils and dirt from fingers. You can always spot-clean between regular cleanings if you notice your mirror getting dirty or smudged.

Cutting glass yourself can be dangerous, as the edges are sharp and can easily cause lacerations if you’re not careful. Working with larger pieces of glass is especially dangerous, as they can be cumbersome and difficult to handle without shattering. If you’re uncomfortable doing the work yourself, you can hire a professional to get the job done safely.

Yes, you can use glass cleaner on outside windows, but only after you’ve rinsed away as much debris as possible. Using glass cleaner on top of a layer of dirt will only make it harder to clean.

While wavy glass is sometimes called antique glass or restoration glass due to the fact that it's found exclusively in older homes, the proper names for wavy glass are actually crown glass and cylinder glass. Most commonly used for circular or portal windows, crown glass was created by manufacturers using a process of blowing and spinning. Meanwhile, cylinder glass was used more commonly because it created large square sheets that could be shaped to fit windows of all shapes and sizes.
