"We love our cabinets! They look fantastic while remaining affordable. The friendly staff at AWD helped us from start to finish. They are very knowledgeable and gave us advice and tips when needed. They were receptive and patient with our ever-changing needs. Once we finalized our purchase, we received our cabinets within two weeks! The cabinets are very sturdy and the color is beautiful. The hinges and hardware are high quality. We are extremely pleased with AWD and would recommend them to any friends or family looking for good cabinets at a fair price."

I began my love affair with wood out of necessity. When my new bride and I started shopping for bedroom furniture to furnish our new home, we quickly realized our taste for finer furniture was not quite in proportion to the size of our budget. Sometime later after walking away from the furniture gallery, my wife showed me a picture of a nightstand she liked and asked if I could build it myself. After first scoffing at the idea, I decided I might get a few nice tools out of the deal. Quickly changing my approach to this ?possibly? good idea, I decided to give it a try. I purchased my first table saw, made my first nightstand and the rest, as they say, is history.\n\n

Cabinet Making questions, answered by experts

If you’re brave enough to tackle building your own cabinet bases, you’re brave enough to install them yourself. You’ll need a stud finder to get you started, but the installation will be a breeze if you’ve already done all the hard work to build the cabinet bases yourself. If you’re hanging upper cabinets, you’ll need a helper, though, to balance the weight of the cabinets and make the process easier.

DIY is possible, but professional assembly ensures proper alignment, stability, and cable management.

There are several ways to save money and keep costs down when building an outdoor kitchen. Building on an existing patio can reduce the cost of a new foundation, especially if it's close to the house. You can also save on utility line installation by opting out of a sink and using a built-in propane or charcoal grill. If you have the skills, tackling parts of the project yourself—like building or finishing cabinets, installing fixtures, and constructing seating—can lead to significant savings. Reusing appliances you already have is another great way to cut costs. Finally, consider starting small with just the essential components and adding more features over time as your budget allows.

Make sure your shelves are no more than 12 inches deep. Any deeper and it will become hard to access items towards the back of the shelf. Yet, for larger walk-in pantries, homeowners may prefer 15- to 18-inch shelving to make room for larger appliances and cookware.

The cost of installing kitchen cabinets is $5,950 for the average project. While most homeowners spend between $2,010 and $10,465 on new kitchen cabinets, you could spend up to $28,000 or more on spacious custom cabinets.

The materials and the size of your cabinets make up a significant portion of your final cost. For example, wood veneer cabinets are typically the most budget-friendly option, ranging from $2,000 to $15,000 on average. On the other hand, stainless steel cabinets are a luxury item and generally cost between $25,000 and $38,000.
