"Our kitchen remodel with McCormick Home Builders went beyond our expectations. Leoni and her team took the time to understand exactly what we wanted. The open layout design changed the way we use the space, and it’s been perfect for family gatherings. They were prompt, courteous, and genuinely invested in making sure we were happy. "Landmark Construction provided us with an amazing customer service throughout the process of the remodeling from start to end. Their prices were very competitive. It doesn't get much better than this. We were having foundation work done on my elderly mother's home in LA. We arranged this remotely via a friend that recommended us to Ezra and Charlie. Ezra took time, care, and patience to make sure that the remodeling will be comfortable with the process and to answer each and every one of our questions. This alone makes us recommend them as highly as possible. Customer service of this level is very very rare today. The work that they did was managed by Charlie. Charlie brought his 3 men team and made sure they will do an amazing work and as fast as they could.  I would use this company again without any hesitation. I'd give 6 stars if I could.

"Ocean Seven Builders and his crew recently replaced my roof. Not only did they offer me the best price using top end materials, but their professionalism, customer service and quality of work was simply amazing! On top of that, they fit me in their schedule within 2 days because I had a bad roof leak. Matt showed up with his crew and he stayed the entire time helping lead the work and they finished the entire job in about 8 hours. The prep work and clean-up was equally impressive. You wouldn't even know they were there. My wife and I couldn't believe the quality and workmanship! No need to look any further, Ocean Seven Builders is by far the best company out there!"

"Team was fabulous to work with, hands down. My vision was to add more living space without adding square footage. Expert Home Builders made it happen. Walls were moved, doors rearranged, pocket door installed, custom shelving, new kitchen with extra seating, and new bathrooms came to life. I felt I was part of the Expert team. My vision and their high standards created my perfect place."

"Finally an honest Solar company!! I went through several companies trying to get quotes for one of my properties, either they were ridiculously expensive or they didn't return my calls. A friend of mine referred me to Mega Sun and I have to say I am very pleased. Within a couple days from the initial phone call I already had an estimate and once i decided to go with them the installation was completed in one week. Its been a little over a month since they completed the install and everything is working smoothly.

I was amazed at just how great the customer service was. I just want to say thank you to the whole team who helped out, I really appreciate all your hard work. Now I know you guys are the ones to call for all future jobs."

"I had a roof leak and called several roofing companies to obtain estimates, etc. Custom Home Remodeling and Roofing was very responsive and visited my home to perform an evaluation promptly.
There estimate was very competitive in comparison to the other companies.  Most importantly, their contract was very brief (1 page), concise, and easy to understand.  I had a company provide me with a 10 page estimate with MANY loopholes.
The roof work was performed and the crew was very respectful and professional.  They were prompt to arrive at the designated date/times, careful with my personal objects around the home, and cleaned very well and the end of each day.

Custom Home Builders questions, answered by experts

Handypeople usually don’t hold trade licenses, so they typically aren’t qualified to tackle projects involving installing or making alterations to plumbing or electrical lines. Below are some jobs that a handyperson usually won’t be able to complete:

  • Installing plumbing for a new kitchen or bathroom

  • Replacing plumbing pipes

  • Installing or repairing septic systems

  • Running new electrical wiring

  • Installing a subpanel

The primary reason homes have crawl spaces is so the foundation can reach down below the frost line to avoid dangerous soil movement and structural damage when the ground freezes. They’re more popular in colder climates where the ground freezes down to a few feet, and slabs are most popular in warmer areas where there is no frost line. Crawl spaces also provide a space for utility lines to run where they’re at less of a risk of freezing.

It’s typically more cost-effective to move a building along with its accessories than to demolish and rebuild it from scratch. However, that’s only if you can move the accessories without damaging them. However, if you plan to demolish the accessories anyway, it is advisable to do so before the move to save costs.

It is a good idea to check in with your local city and state regulations before committing to building a shipping container home no matter where you live. This concept is pretty new across the country, and many places won’t let you build one.

The International Code Council (ICC) offers guidelines for home builders on the safe use of ISO intermodal shipping containers repurposed as building components, which can be helpful to review when planning or designing a shipping container home.

It usually takes around four to six months to build and install a modular home, although your timeline could go up to around eight months if there are delays in the manufacturing or permitting process. Heavy site preparation and foundation pouring can extend that timeline if you need them, as can customizations you want for your modular home. Your modular home company should be able to provide an estimate for the construction timeline before you sign any contracts or agree to any work.
