"It went well, my old school bathroom was updated. I now have an awesome bathroom with a walk in shower, the tile work is gorgeous. I just love it! In my other bathroom the fixtures were changed and an extra door was replaced with a wall. I can’t even tell where the door was. Michael and his crew did an excellent job. I would definitely recommend if you care about quality."

"Frank from At Your Service Plumbing was excellent. He responded quickly to my service request, immediately diagnosed the cause of the leak, and got right to work repairing it. He also replaced the shower fixtures and made the shower much more efficient. He was professional, efficient, and reliable. I highly recommend Frank’s services for any plumbing needs."

"Alicia Hinzman is a saving grace. Amongst all the chaos at my house she came in sat me down gave me options and a company willing to finance the job. I would definitely recommend her and Dabella for any bathroom remodeling and just for some good wholesome conversation and exactly what I needed. Thanx Alicia hope you know you got a friend for life! "I chose this business because of the ratings, so I had some high hopes for this very small job. My expectations were to make it safer for me and the other senior who lives here. I understood that it was a patch job. The crew did a sloppy job, I was left with a 3/4 inch lip on the top end one board that is a MORE dangerous tripping hazard than the holes., and runs 6 1/2 feet--(at least you could SEE the holes). The other top board that runs the the rest of the length of the deck is also a tripping hazard. (about 1/4 of an inch higher on the edge). He came back and fixed it, so I am satisfied."

"I hired Palm Construction for a kitchen remodel and rewiring my house. They did an excellent job. I am very happy with the results. They finished the job on time which was very important. The workers were very polite and professional and cleaned up after the work was completed. Jacob, Ken and Mike did an excellent job coordinating the Projects. Also the designer Maya, was extremely helpful going with me to pick out flooring, countertops, appliances and paint. I would definitely recommend Palm Construction and will certainly use them for any upcoming projects I may have."

Kitchen and Bathroom Remodel questions, answered by experts

The toilet should rest 10, 12, or 14 inches from the back wall. As for other clearances, 15 inches is the minimum distance from the flange to any side wall or nearby fixture, including the shower, tub, and sink. Modern codes also require at least 24 inches of clear space in front of the toilet.

One of the most crucial parts of finding a reliable bathroom remodeler is asking for customer references. Since bathroom remodeling is a major home project, other homeowners will have a strong opinion one way or the other about the quality of the work and professionalism of the contractor. Ask any bathroom remodeler for a list of references, and contact previous customers to ask for their opinion and photo results. You can also look for online reviews and complaints filed with the Better Business Bureau.

Common shower pan sizes are 30-by-30 inches and 42-by-32 inches, or you might want a contemporary, clean-lined 60-by-42-inch walk-in. When selecting the size and location of your custom shower, consider the other bathroom fittings, whether the shower door can open easily, and whether you’ll have to alter plumbing.

An alcove tub is designed to fit into a three-walled enclosure in a bathroom. A drop-in tub, on the other hand, is placed into a custom-built frame or enclosure. This frame can be fitted to an alcove, making a drop-in tub a viable alternative if you want a more custom or spa-like look. Because the frame is custom, drop-in tubs offer more design flexibility and a wider range of materials, such as cultured marble or tile, compared to the simpler acrylic or fiberglass of a typical alcove tub. The frame for a drop-in tub can also be placed anywhere in the bathroom it fits, not just in an alcove.

The decision between wainscoting and shiplap for your bathroom will depend on the end result you’re looking for. Shiplap covers the entire wall and can be used on ceilings. Wainscoting is installed on the lower third of the wall and acts as an accent. One major consideration is that shiplap has rabbets that create space between the boards where moisture and dust can hide. Since bathrooms are a high-moisture environment, you may want to opt for wainscotting.
