"JR Roofing is an extremely professional company that sold us after we interviewed 6 roofing companies. Their prices are fair and a great deal for the quality of craftsmanship that we experienced with their work. They are honest and hardworking and did the whole roof in a day and a half. Our house looks like a whole new house and I really had no idea it could look this good! I would recommend them to anyone. Thank you!"
"Found Sentri on Angi. Jeanette and Violet were very pleasant and efficient in getting a contractor to me in the time frame needed. The contractor was excellent and the roof looks great! I would definitely work with them again if I had additional projects."

"Solar tube installed efficiently and cleanly with no disruption. Technician installer Rick explained the options well, and made a good job of the break through to the roof, finishing off with an unobtrusive fitting that matched our Spanish tile roof. Very pleased with the result which has brought much needed light yo an otherwise dull hallway. "
"Tim took over a project that an unqualified handyman started! The handyman ruined a part of my roof while he tried to install a patio roof. Unfortunately we didn’t discover how unqualified the first person was until he took forever to start the project and kept saying he was going to finish and never did! Tim had redone our roof last Fall so I asked him to look at the project - he finished in a little More than 2 weeks and it’s beautiful! Would recommend this contractor for any project you have !"
"Tim was punctual in arriving at my home on the scheduled day for the roof inspection/maintenance. He did a very thorough job and in fact re-sealed more than the four penetrations that were included in the package. He also found hail damage and is assisting me in dealing with my insurance company for a claim.
I would definitely use Tim Ehlers, dba Patriot Roofing, again in the future."
"This is a great company run by its owner Andrew, a great guy. No sooner than I requested HomeAdvisor for pro recommendations for my flat roof problems Andrew called within about 5 minutes. Found him to be very personable on the phone and made an appointment for an estimate for the next day. He was right on time and he listened to my every concern about the problem with my flat roof which I had been trying to fix. Having worked with other roofing contractors as a Pastor with Churches having flat roof problems, I found Andrew to be very knowledgeable. Upon his examination of my roof we agreed to have the repairs made and the roof spayed with urethane and then sprayed and back rolled with elastomeric cool coat. Very Reasonably priced. I found the Slender and Sons crew to be very friendly, courteous, and diligent. Would recommend this company to anyone and everyone. This is at the very least a 5 Star Company all around."
"Bowtie replaced the roof on my garage a couple years ago when a tree fell on it. This time hail destroyed the entire roof (Murphy's Law?). They did a great job on the garage, so I had no reservations giving them this job as well. A team of about 6 guys showed up in the early morning on the appointed day and just got busy. The team worked well together and it was easy to see that they all knew what to do without being told. They finished the garage the 1st day, and came back the 2nd day to do the house. The crew replaced some rotted out wood sheathing that was discovered when they stripped the roof. They made sure the gutters were properly installed under the new drip edge. An unexpected bonus was the way they handled the lightning rods. The ground wires were neatly tucked under the ridge cap, out of view and greatly enhancing the beauty of the finished roof. Great idea! Bowtie also used a tough polypropylene underlayment when they could have gotten by using old-school felt. Dave and the crew kept me informed the entire time, and were always responsive to my questions and concerns."
Yes, you should seal and cap an unused chimney to protect it from damage. Sealing the structure helps prevent moisture damage, which can lead to issues like cracks, spalling, efflorescence, and damaged mortar joints. Capping the chimney is also crucial to prevent blockages, damage from invasive critters, and downdrafts, while still allowing for proper air ventilation to manage moisture. For the best results, consult a chimney professional to select the right type of chimney or flue cap for your home. It's also wise to continue with annual chimney inspections to maintain the structure's integrity.
Rain shouldn’t come in through your ridge vents unless your vents are damaged or the rain is accompanied by very high winds. Most ridge vents use flashing or baffling to keep out rain, snow, and debris. If your ridge vent isn’t baffled, rain is more likely to enter your attic, so ridge vents with baffles are a better choice in areas with regular rainfall.
Roof repairs average around $1,100 but can easily exceed that for larger repairs. The cost of roof replacement depends on the size of your home and the materials used but averages between $4,000 and $24,000.
To cap off a chimney flue, start by measuring its width, length, and diameter, if it’s circular. Purchase a cap that fits the flue, and decide whether you want a temporary or permanent model. Then, slide or insert the cap onto the flue and secure it with a screwdriver. Be sure to avoid over-tightening the screws to prevent chimney damage.
The principal, common, and auxiliary rafters are the most frequently used types of rafters. Principal rafters are large and typically appear toward the edges of the roof. Common rafters are smaller than principal rafters. Some people may use a mix of common and principal rafters. The auxiliary rafter is not common, but it provides extra reinforcement for a principal rafter on a large building.
