"This is the second job I’ve done with Devin and his company. He’s a great guy and knows what he’s doing! We picked plantation style shutters for the front of the house and Black Zebra Blinds for the back. Absolutely beautiful! And he’s a dang Ninja when it comes to installing. I’ll never use another company when it comes to window treatments! Great company and Great Guy! Don’t hesitate!"

"They were so friendly and helpful. They were able to elimate a problem with one window and did not charge me. They told me what to do to keep my windows working smoothly. They even suggested I wait for complete repairs until they no longer worked smoothly after doing as they instructed. Now how often does that happen! I will be calling them anytime I have a window problem."

"Mike and his colleague came out and quickly did the job of replacing my bedroom window that my dog broke. They were both courteous and friendly and very communicative. The work was done very efficiently at the quoted price. He even took the time to talk to me about replacing my windows to dual pane and gave me a quote on the spot (I asked him... he did not even mention it until I inquired) I would gladly call him for any if my window needs."

"Did not recieve the estimate after the consultant arrived. When I called back received the estimate very quickly. However the estimate was over 20K for 15 plantation shutter windows which is about double any of the other estimates."

Window Shutters questions, answered by experts

Not all windows are suitable for shutters, as certain styles can prevent them from functioning correctly. It's best to avoid installing shutters on bay windows, picture windows, dormer windows, and double-mulled windows. Shutters are better suited for large, full-size standard windows or French doors.

Additionally, consider the room's lighting needs. Since shutters effectively block light, they are an excellent choice for rooms where you want more darkness and privacy, such as a master bedroom or a main living room. For window types that are not ideal for functional shutters, some homeowners choose to install fixed (non-functional) shutters to maintain a consistent look across the home.

Shutters are still very common in Southern, farmhouse, and traditional-style homes, especially those in warm climates who can benefit from the increased efficiency. While modern homes and designs tend to shy away from shutters, shutters are a timeless design style that will likely be around for decades to come.

The average shutter is designed to last 20 to 25 years. Proper maintenance for the type of shutters you have is essential for helping them reach their full potential.

Plantation shutters cost an average of $2,990, making them one of the pricier shutter options. However, they offer a 75% return on your investment and are great options for boosting curb appeal and property value. Most people go for plantation shutters for their timeless, vintage look. They also provide the strongest light blocking and temperature control for your home.

Estate shutters offer more energy efficiency, privacy, and light control than blinds. They provide better insulation against heat and cold, lowering your energy bills. They’re also sturdy, durable, and last much longer than blinds (up to 50 years or longer). They’re also low-maintenance and can add curb appeal to your home. The return on investment (ROI) for estate shutters is around 75%.
