Their estimate was the middle of 3 that I obtained. I wasn't encouraged when I first called to get an estimate; no one answered the phone and there was no way to leave a message. When I reached Dick Penny, the proprietor, he seemed puzzled that that could have happened. It took over a week before he could stop by to give me an estimate (I got the first two in about 3 days). During the entire time prior to the move, Mr. Penny was unresponsive; he never called when he said he would; I always had to call him. Despite this, I selected them based on Wheaton's reputation and competitive estimate. The moving crew was punctual, at both ends of the move. For the most part, they were professional. One of the movers, however, had a poor attitude. When I questioned why he was tagging individual items (I thought they couldn't take them), he got surly. His comment was "I've been doing this for x years...I don't care anymore". Since I agreed to do all the packing myself, they didn't need to bring any boxes. I wish they had brought at least a few, because I ran out of boxes finishing up packing the night before. They didn't have a single box. They refused to take anything that wasn't boxed up. At the destination, the crew was better than in Albuquerque. They hustled, and mostly paid attention to my directions about where to put what. But even the driver, Thomas Ames, seemed to be losing his patience. When they were finished, he wanted me to sign off the checklists even though there were several blank spots. When I asked to check for the unaccounted items, he sighed "this is gonna take forever". But he agreed to check until all the blanks were filled. At the end, I thanked him profusely, and said "it's been rough for all of us" and parted amicably. I've moved across the country before, but I can't recall a rougher move. Yes, I could have helped by being 100% ready, but at the same time, they could have been better prepared to handle the unexpected. I kept the truck for 6 days and after driving it for 96 miles I filled the tank with $40/11 gallons of gas and returned it. I also rented a furniture-dolly for $7 and insured the truck for $14. The rate for the truck was $29.95/day plus $0.69/mile. Based on my calculation the charge should've been : Truck: (6x29.95)+(96x0.69) = 246 approximately Dolly: $7 Insurance: $14 Tax: $10 Approximately Total: $277 Next day I got shocked after I checked my bank account! Adens-Oasis had charged my debit-card $510! How? This is how: They had charged $39.95/day times 6 intead of $29.95/day They had charged $42 for dolly or $7/day times 6! .The same dolly sells at U-Haul for $19.95, yes, less than half the rental, at this rate dolly would bring them $2550 per year!!!! yes, a $20 dolly They had charged $84 for insurance or $14 times 6, which equals to about $5000/year premium for a truck hardly worth $2000! And last but not the least, they had charged $22 more for fuel after I pumped $40/11gal gas for only 96 miles. U-Haul company agent also took Aden's side & finally said \"Well these rules and rates are written by others I just follow them!\" Avoid these people they're frauds, Avoid U-Haul too, they practice fraud and intentional overcharge like this all the time."},"url":"https://www.angi.com/companylist/us/az/gilbert/adens-hay-oasis-llc-reviews-6232745.htm"},"position":4}]}
