"I originally contacted them to do a small job but after talking to the owner, Roland, realized my money would be better spent having the whole yard done at once. I'm so very glad I did! I've hired people in the past, highly recommended and paid A LOT money and NO ONE has done a better job than 3-Link! They went beyond what I asked them to do and stayed true to their quote. I cannot say enough about how pleased I am (and the HOA will be) with my front yard. I have a huge Mesquite tree that others have either refused the job or charged exborinate prices to cut it back and yet I came out and Roland was actually up in this tree with his chain saw! This tree wasn't even part of the job however he saw it needed to be done and Roland and his employee got it cut back better than I or others have been able to do! They also remove a dead catus that has been here for years! Like the tree it too wasn't part of the bid but they did it anyway. They were here for well over 5 hours, in the rain, until the job was done to THEIR satisfaction. They left here with a good size trailer over flowing and the back of their truck full of debris! As I went to pay Roland, I expected him to tell me a different price than the quote because they did far more work than expected, I even said as much. I was pleasantly surprised when he stayed TRUE to the quote, "saying that sometimes you just have to eat it." Needless to say, that got my attention and trust as I've had so many in the past do the opposite. I will be recommending them to everyone I know and will be putting their business card around places I do business with here in Rita Ranch. I do this when I find upcoming businesses that are honest, hard working and true to their word! I'm a widow, a disabled Veteran, early 50's, in case you're wondering. I will have them maintain my yard in the future; that looks so much brighter now that I can see out of my front windows because they trimmed the bushes blocking them and the HOA won't be on my butt all the time!"

"This company worked hard removing 2 trees that fell in my backyard during a storm. They took out the trees and the stumps. They also removed some falling branches and trimmed the tree in my front yard. Cleaned the front and back yard when they were done. Loaded up the debris in 1 & 1/2 trailers and hauled it all away. All for a reasonable price. Overall, I would say their work was superb. The team worked very hard to get the job done. I would definitely recommend them for tree removal and tree trimming."

"Willie was prompt, courteous, and did a wonderful job - everything he said he would do. We have since hired him to do more work on our yard, including installation of a water line, planting a tree, and removing unwanted plants. We have also set up a regular maintenance schedule and hope to have Willie install a new watering system next spring. We are very happy to have found someone who takes great pride in his work, is very fair, and reliable."

Landscaping questions, answered by experts

Hedge plants are available in almost every size, from seedlings to fully mature, six-foot-tall shrubs. Planting smaller plants is much easier and more cost-effective. However, it can take years for the plants to reach maturity and create a full hedge. Garden centers and specialty retailers sometimes offer three to four-foot wide plants that you can simply plant next to each other for an instant full hedge.

Plant privet hedges at least 1 foot apart in a trench about 2 feet wide and 2 feet deep. It’s important to space privet hedges relatively far apart due to how quickly they grow to significant sizes and heights. You don’t want to crowd privet plants, or they could overcrowd each other, causing unwanted damage.

Grass is the most popular and safest option for planting over a septic drain field, but you can also plant small flowering plants and other lightweight plants that don’t have woody or deep roots. Avoid trees and bushes within 10 feet of the field, as the woody roots can crack the perforated pipes. You should also avoid planting vegetable or fruit gardens over your drain field, as a leak from the pipes could contaminate the soil and put anyone who eats the produce at risk.

The best size rock for your landscaping depends on the design, as different boulders serve different purposes. If you want to group boulders to create a natural-looking cluster, you’ll need a range of sizes. Otherwise, here are some suggestions:

  • Small boulders (smaller than 12 inches across): Best for landscape edging and fire pits

  • Medium boulders (12–24 inches): Best for retaining walls and water features

  • Large boulders (more than 24 inches): Best as standalone landscaping features, steps, or walkways.

Of course, you can mix and match sizes to create a unique display.

The best way to landscape your front yard on a budget is to invest in hiring a professional for hardscaping—things like upgrading walkways, redoing driveways, and installing partitions around garden beds. You can often do the softscaping yourself—think laying down mulch, caring for your lawn, removing weeds, and planting flowers and shrubs. It’s also almost always worthwhile to pay a professional for routine yard maintenance, as this dramatically improves curb appeal and delivers above 100% ROI in most cases.
