"I do not recommend Bath Planet. The cost is exorbitant for such a pretty product made with poor quality materials and shoddy installation. There is too much give in the flimsy walls and pan. After only a month, I had to have someone come in and recaulk. It took a LOT of caulk for the big gaps. Yes, there was mold. Then, two years later, yet another issue. We noticed a squishing sound in the hall, then water started coming up between the floorboards. It took a plumber two trips (and a week of using no water in that end of the house - no dishwasher, kitchen sink, laundry, or bathroom) so the floors could dry and he could find the source of the water. Turns out, the shower drain was not properly installed, or perhaps it had worked itself loose with the flimsy bendable pan. Water was draining between the concrete slab and our pvc laminate flooring. Yes, I am upset. I am so sorry I allowed Bath Planet anywhere near my house."

A barn door needs a bottom track to ensure it operates smoothly and doesn’t get stuck or scratch the floor. This bottom track also keeps the door secure and properly anchored. When installing a barn door with a bottom track, ensure it is six to eight inches off the floor and at least twice as wide as the door. In rare cases, an interior barn door can hang from a top track and slide along the wall. This design doesn’t require a bottom track. 

Adding a doggie door can allow a burglar access to knobs and locks on your door. If your pet door doesn’t come with an alarm, you can add a weight sensor alarm that will trip if anything heavier than your pet enters through it. Adding a motion sensor light to the room your pet door is in can also help deter burglars.

The vast majority of hinges are symmetrical, and either side of the hinge can go on the door or the frame. Occasionally, you'll find a hinge specifically made for right or left-handed doors with different attachment hardware or larger plates on one side. In most cases, the large side of the hinge goes on the frame.

It is possible to install hinges backward, so be careful when placing them. Position the hinge so that the hinge pin faces the direction the door will swing. For example, if you're standing on the side the door will open into, the pin should be visible. Check your smoke detectors while you’re at it.

A prehung door is a door that already has hinges attached. These types of doors aren’t much more expensive than a non-hung door (around $20 more) and are extremely convenient for a number of reasons, chiefly that you don’t need to drill or align hinges. If you had a prehung door previously installed, you would simple swap the new door for the old one, and the most work you need to door is align the door and drill in a few screws.
