"We did a full remodel, a new shower along with tile flooring, a new vanity, and a toilet. We chose Bath Makeover of Arkansas because we could have one company do the entire project."

"Getting a walk in tub is expensive no matter who you use. My experience thus far is with installation only and I must say my install went great. It has been over a month and no issues with my tub so I cannot comment on repair process with American Standard."

"They did a good job. She had to submit like a photo but my daughter had them work on the central are of the loft. The deal was for one room. She got a lot of good ideal from her and it was worth it for her. They were professional and I did not hear anything negative."

Tub Shower Conversion questions, answered by experts

Medicare does not typically cover the cost of a walk-in shower. The federal health insurance program considers a walk-in shower to be a home alteration rather than a medical necessity, even though walk-in showers would assist many people who are eligible for Medicare. Medicare Advantage Plans and Medicaid are more likely to cover the cost of a walk-in shower. It’s not a guarantee, even with a letter from a physician, and if reimbursement is authorized, it usually comes after the individual pays the upfront installation fee.

Signs that your shower valve has gone bad include a variety of issues with water flow and temperature. Common symptoms are low water pressure, inconsistent water temperature, and dripping or leaking from the handle or showerhead when the water is off. You might also notice that the knob is difficult to turn or won't turn at all. Another key indicator of a bad diverter valve is water coming from both the tub spout and the showerhead simultaneously, or being unable to switch the water flow between the two fixtures. In advanced cases, the water may not turn on at all. These are all signs that the valve may need to be replaced.

Common shower pan sizes are 30-by-30 inches and 42-by-32 inches, or you might want a contemporary, clean-lined 60-by-42-inch walk-in. When selecting the size and location of your custom shower, consider the other bathroom fittings, whether the shower door can open easily, and whether you’ll have to alter plumbing.

You should replace your showerhead if you notice issues such as low water pressure, leaks, rust, mineral deposits, sediment buildup, or black mold. These signs can indicate internal problems that might lead to health issues if ignored. If you find black mold, it's wise to inspect the rest of your bathroom for other potential sources. Additionally, significant sediment buildup may suggest the need for a water softener, while persistent low water pressure could point to an issue with your water heater.

Even without these problems, replacing an old fixture is an easy and affordable way to upgrade your shower. A new showerhead can offer several benefits, including improved water pressure, better water efficiency, and an enhanced aesthetic that complements your bathroom's style. Modern showerheads also frequently come with extra features like multiple spray settings or a detachable head to improve your showering experience.

Yes, you can replace just the shower pan and leave the shower base as-is. However, you may need to replace both if the pan is leaking and causing damage to the base, like cracks. In this case, getting a new pan won’t fix your problems because you’ll eventually notice water damage in your home.
