"Weatherproofing Experts was the only company who could do the whole job we needed without having to bring in outside help (which would have cost extra with the other roofers).
Brandon (owner of Weatherproofing Experts) came and went over the whole plan with us and answered my many, many questions. He was very gracious and patient. He and his crew did an amazing job for us.
Weatherproofing Experts worked around a lot of rough winter weather to help us get our roof back in shape. At the end of each day they made sure our roof was dried in so that if any wet weather were to come, there would be no leaking whatsoever. They went above and beyond on our roof. They even took the old fishscales off our turret, replaced the wood, wrapped the turret in Tyvek and put all the fishscales back on. A few of the scales broke when they were being pulled off and Brandon's guys were able to create new ones with cedar shake shingles. You can't tell which are the original and which are the new.
We had a decorative metal cap on our turret that needed to be welded and repainted. My husband tried stripping and prepping the cap, but we wound up handing it over to Brandon to finish. It looks amazing! Brandon is a great welder! He made it look brand new with the repairs and paint.
Our roofline is very complicated with the turret and 3 dormers. They did an amazing job in a difficult working environment. They also replaced part of the soffits and decorative wood that went around the edges.
After tearing off the wood from the dormers, they wrapped the new OSB with Tyvek before putting on the final layer of exterior wood for us. They also did all the painting of the wood before they put it up for us. When they finished putting up the wood, they went back and painted again so everything looks uniform and perfect.
Oh, they also weld their flashing so there is no issue with caulking getting old, deteriorating and leaking. That is one of the features that really impressed me with Brandon's company.
We couldn't be more pleased with the way the roof turned out. The guys cleaned up after themselves everyday and left the place looking neat. They were a very friendly crew that never hesitated to answer any questions we had.
|If you want a someone who goes above and beyond and truly takes pride in doing the best job possible, you want Brandon and his crew at Weatherproofing Experts. We highly recommend them to anyone that needs roofing or siding done on their home."
While a high-speed circular saw will cut through metal, and even cut through multiple sheets at once, the fast-spinning saw blades create a lot of heat. This heat can damage paint and other protective coatings, leading to serious problems like rust over time. The cost to paint a metal roof again to avoid this damage is typically an additional $0.50 to $1 per square foot.
You should not do your own welding unless you have the proper training and experience. Most home electrical systems can only handle MIG welding, which creates weaker bonds than TIG welding and won’t work on certain metals or metal thicknesses. Both welding forms usually require the use of shielding gas, which can be dangerous to store at home. Additionally, welding machines create temperatures of over 3,000 degrees, and the sparks can blind you if you don’t have the proper equipment. As such, it’s usually better to hire a professional welder for your welding projects.
Welders use a variety of methods in their trade. Different types of welding are better suited for different purposes and contexts. For example, stick welding is a versatile form suitable for most metals and alloys.
The most common types of welding include:
Stick welding: $100–$1,000
Metal Inert Gas (MIG) welding: $250 and up
Tungsten Inert Gas (TIG) welding: $250 and up
Gas welding: $150 and up
Forge welding: $15–$25 per hour
Professional metal fabricators typically charge around $70 per hour, but the total cost of your project will depend on several factors. The largest cost drivers are the size, complexity, and design of the project, as well as the price and type of metal used. A good way to estimate the total cost is to multiply the cost of raw materials by four; typically, one-quarter of the total goes toward materials and three-quarters toward labor. Your geographic location can also influence costs, as labor and material prices vary by region.
Yes, you can cut plexiglass by hand using a sharp knife or blade (utility knife, box cutter, glass cutter, etc.).
