*** I have recently added the Nashville area to my service coverage. Since I can do most of my services remotely with you over the phone, I am hoping to eventually open up to larger markets and help people from having to take their computer in to get it fixed, if it has internet access, I can usually fix it over the Internet. Just trying to do more to help my Angies List customers!!******** I am a sole proprietor that works out of my home. I am my only employee, but I have over 20 years experience fixing computers, and providing superior customer service. I work on a flat rate service, and don't charge by the hour because I feel it's important to educate the customer on what the issue is/was, and how to avoid it in the future. I feel that local service companies (my competition) have been overcharging customers for years. I offer a first time customer discount of 10% but I will offer 15% off for first time customers referred by Angies List. I've lived in the Huntsville area most all my life, so I know the area very well. I will never use a subcontractor as I am very picky about making sure that if my name and company is associated with something, it will be the best experience my customer has ever had, and using sub contractors won't ensure that, so I prefer to do all the work myself. Lastly, I should point out that I am a former offensive lineman for the University of Southern Mississippi and was Brett Favre's center his freshman year at Southern. I went on to play for Tom Landry in his last year, but gave up pro football early on to pursue my passion of fixing computers. If I didn't have bills to pay, I would do this for free because I love it! If you have a computer problem, I promise you that you couldn't find a better technician that will care about you as a customer, and not about the bottom line. I am always available, but don't always answer my phone, but if you leave a message, I promise to back with you as soon as possible...and figure out how to get your issue resolved in a quick, efficient and economical manner. Thanks so much for reading my ad, and I look forward to working for you!

"I awoke on a Friday morning following a period of heavy storms the previous day and night. I discovered I had two leaks, one in a bedroom and one in a secondary bath............ neither was serious but was enough to produce wet circles on the ceiling wallboard. After getting the run-around from another company for most of they day, about 4:00 pm I checked Angie's List and decided on One Call Roofing based on their reviews.  I called their main number and it went to a recording.  I left a message.  Within 30 minutes Michael called back, indicating he was a Project Manager with One Call and asking how they could help.  I explained what had happened and we set up an appointment for the next day (Saturday) for him to come out, look at the roof and give me an estimate.
On Saturday Michael called a couple of times to let me know they were running a little behind and giving me a new time they would be there.  When he arrived he had the company GM/President (Steve Stamba) with him.  Michael climbed on the roof.  After finishing he and Steve discussed and decided the problems were probably leaky seals on a vent pipe and the way some flashing had been installed on a raised portion of the roof that could be fixed with caulking.  They said they would put together an estimate and Michael would send it to me on the way to their next appt.  They were careful to take a number of pictures to show me indicating where the problems were.
I had the estimate from him in email within 30 minutes from the time they left.  I sent an email in reply the next morning (Sunday) accepting the estimate of $ 528 to reseal the problem flashing, place new seals on all vent pipes (5) and reseal the flashing on both chimney and HVAC exhaust.  Michael sent me an email Sunday afternoon telling me they would call me on Monday to set up an appointment.
On Monday morning Michael called at 8:15 am.  He indicated that he and a repairman were outside and were about to go on the roof to do the repairs............. what a pleasant surprise and what great service!
In sealing the problem flashing the repairman decided he needed to remove the shingles and examine the decking due to some spongy areas he discovered.  He found rotted decking that should have been replaced when the roof was originally installed. They took pictures of the damage and showed them to me.   To do the work Michael indicated it would normally be around $ 500 to remove the shingles, replace the decking and install new shingles, but he and Steve agreed  they could do the work for $ 225 since they were there.  It sounded reasonable to me and I agreed... this would be a permanent fix to the leak problem, not just resealing with caulk.  Michael left to get the decking and shingles and the repairman, Britt I think his name was, began the repair  They finished up around 1:00 pm.  They explained all they did and cleaned up all debris.  The roof looked fine.
About a week later I discovered another leak in the same general area in the bathroom and called them back.  Steve answered and promised they would be back within the week.  True to his word the repairmen returned a day and a half later and did further repairs on nails that were positioned improperly on several shingles.  Since the repair I have had no leaks after a number of strong storms that have occurred.  Problems fixed.
As a last note, and as a good indicator of how these guys view their customers, they have each called me at least once after the repairs to make sure I was having no problems and insure I was satisfied.  I would recommend this company to anyone."

Heating and Air Conditioning questions, answered by experts

Yes, a dirty air filter can cause a higher electric bill. That’s because clogged filters make it harder for air to flow through your HVAC system, which forces it to work harder and use more energy. According to the U.S. Department of Energy, replacing dirty filters can save you between 5% and 15% in utility costs.

It’s never a good idea to run your AC without a filter, even just for a night. The filter defends your HVAC system from the dust, dirt, debris, and other grime in your home. Without a filter, those contaminants are more likely to get inside your system and potentially damage it.

High humidity is one of the most common reasons for air vents to sweat or produce condensation. When the cool, dry air from your HVAC unit meets warm and moist air in your home, it will cause condensation. Insulating your ductwork can help prevent this. If you live in a very humid region, a dehumidifier can also help.

When deciding whether to repair or replace your air conditioner, several factors should be considered. It is generally worth repairing the unit if it's less than 10 years old, the warranty is still active, and you're dealing with a one-off issue. Most central AC units last about 15 years, while window units last 8 to 10 years. If your unit is approaching or has surpassed the 10-year mark and requires frequent or costly repairs (e.g., over $5,000), replacement is often the more sensible long-term investment. For older, inefficient, or out-of-warranty units experiencing multiple problems, replacing it is typically the better choice.

Evaporator coils in HVAC systems typically last around 10 to 15 years. However, their life span can be longer or shorter based on factors like the frequency of your HVAC system usage, whether regular maintenance is performed, and environmental conditions. Regular maintenance, such as HVAC system cleaning and coil inspection, can extend the durability and efficiency of your evaporator coil.
