"I had Anchor Roofing Company install a new roof three years ago. Since the installment the roof is leaking in several different areas. I call the company to inform them of the situation. I spoke with the owner, he informed me that he had just left my area, and that he would be at my home on Monday (I called him on a Thursday). On Monday (the day promised) no one called me or came by. It was now 3:30, so I called the company, left a message if they would call be back to confirm what time should I expect them. No response, I made several calls the next day; no response. That when I decided to leave a paper trail. Immediately, I received an email saying when they would be to the house. Several men came out, they all climbed up on the roof, one with a leaf blower, they were here no longer than 10 mins. If I had not watched the security monitor, I would not have known when they left. They all packed up the ladder, got back into the truck and was going to leave without letting me know. I rand to the door and stated " your leaving without letting me know. One gentleman, came back and stated he blew the leaves off the roof, but I would have to call the company to schedule to have someone repair broken seals on the roof. When I tried calling the company the same day, no response. So, I sent another email, and that is when I was informed the foremen said he repaired the roof, and then I was told that I would have to wait for it to rain again to see if the problem was fixed. REALLY! The owner did not take into consideration the damaged that was occurring to the interior or my personal property that was being rained on."

Dumpster Service questions, answered by experts

That depends on how much junk you have. For individual items, hiring a junk removal company is often more cost-effective. However, if you’re doing a major cleanout or completing a large home improvement project, renting a dumpster may be more cost-effective. On average, dumpster rental costs $300 to $480 per week.

Most municipalities allow dumpsters with proper permitting to sit on the street for up to a month, but you might need to file for extensions throughout that time to maintain your permit. You should always check with your local building department and your HOA if you’re a part of one to make sure you avoid fines.

Although there’s a long list of items you can put in a rented dumpster, several items aren’t allowed. Most dumpster rental companies won’t allow paint cans, refrigerators, medical waste, household cleaners, hot water tanks, oil or fuel, and tires in their dumpsters. However, most let you dump furniture, wood, yard debris, small appliances, excess trash, and construction waste.

Several types of items aren't allowed in roll-off dumpsters. First of all, hazardous materials and hazardous liquids are a no-go. This includes asbestos, oil, wet paint and other materials. Other banned items include batteries, electronics with lithium batteries, propane tanks, tires, and appliances with refrigerants. Some areas have shifting requirements (for instance, certain locations do not allow mattresses), so check with your local regulatory agency.

The amount a 6-by-10-foot dump trailer can hold varies depending on the model. Generally, however, they can hold at least 4 cubic yards of waste with a load capacity of at least 4,000 lbs. This is around 1/4 to 1/2 the amount a standard junk removal truck can hold. It’s also considerably less than the most common dumpster size of 20 cubic yards.
