"Hired this painter to paint multiple rooms as well as my cabinets. Her quote was fair and much much cheaper than most painters I looked at and her work was much better. You would think you would have to pay an arm and a leg to get excellent work now days. I got the feeling she was just out to do a good job and not rip off her client at the same time. I was thoroughly pleased with her attention to detail and perfectionism in the final product. Would highly recommend her to anyone if they are looking for a revamp of their home because she will make it look as good as hers is what it felt like to me."

"Luke was a gift! He responded quickly to my call and was able to start painting two days later. He was professional, knowledgeable, on time and always cognizant of the fact that I was working from home while he was painting. He meticulously painted my entire house and it looks amazing. "Kristy,James and his men were a pleasant company to talk to and did excellent work. They had done some previous work for me a year ago that turned out great so I had no problem what so ever contacting him and his company again for this project. The work was great and looked better than I had expected it to look. I like James because he is honest and will give advice on a project if you ask it. The job was completed in the time he had said and was on budget. Cant wait to start using my new deck this summer. will use them again if I have anything else come up."

Deck Staining questions, answered by experts

Yes, professionals offer slip-resistant options for added workplace safety.

A five-gallon bucket of deck stain will cover roughly 875 square feet in a single coat. Actual coverage will vary based on the type of wood you’re staining and the number of coats. If you plan on doing multiple coats, multiply the square footage by the number of coats to calculate how many buckets of stain you’ll need.

Unless you’re using a 2-in-1 formula or painting over an existing coat of paint, it pays to apply a coat of primer ahead of your new paint. Decks see a lot of footfall and exposure to extreme and sudden temperature changes and moisture levels. The primer promotes better paint adhesion, moisture repellency, and a smoother finish, which means you’ll often need fewer coats of paint.

For homes in areas with extreme weather, high heat, or intense sun exposure, high-quality acrylic paint is the best option. Acrylic paint is durable, resistant to both heat and cold, and provides a protective barrier with excellent UV resistance. For best results, look for acrylics that contain natural earth pigments, which are better suited for resisting sun damage. While oil-based paint is also durable, it can be prone to fading in high heat and can become too viscous to apply easily in cold temperatures. Additionally, choosing a neutral or light color like gray, beige, or white can help, as these colors absorb less heat than darker shades.

Whitewashing isn’t permanent, but it can last for a long, long time. When you apply it correctly or have a seasoned pro whitewash your brick, whitewashing can last for 20 to 30 years or longer. Whitewash is very durable and typically requires little maintenance, making it a great project for most DIYers.
