"Jacob is very pleasant and mannerly. I gave the overall job from start to finish 4 out of 5 stars. The overall look of my ceilings is good and a much needed improvement from my popcorn ceilings. The wainscoting paneling gives a clean, modern farmhouse look. As Jacob is aware, there were some staffing challenges and family emergencies that delayed completion on his end. Given the delays, Jacob graciously offered not to charge me for the additional trim pieces needed to cover seams. As Jacob is also aware, I had envisioned a more finished look with regard to caulking and sanding nail holes, panel seams and trim pieces along with the second coat of paint. Despite the second attempt, the holes, seams and butt joints in certain areas are still visible which I have decided to live with and did not call Jacob to give him another opportunity to touch up these areas. Also, since the lighting fixtures werent removed or covered during the second coat of paint on the second visit, my new lighting fixture has paint on it. That said, Id definitely work with Jacob again and truly believe that he is hardworking and genuinely cares about his customers."

Popcorn Ceilings questions, answered by experts

Popcorn ceiling textures can enhance acoustic properties, while their removal or repair modernizes appearance and resolves health concerns from old asbestos.

Yes. Sagging ceilings often indicate more severe problems, such as structural damage, roof leaks, and pest infestations. As the sagging expands, your ceiling may eventually collapse, posing a threat to your physical safety and leading to expensive repair and restoration costs. That’s why you need to fix sagging ceilings as soon as you notice them.

The timeline varies from a few hours to two days, depending on room size, texture complexity, and removal difficulty.

It depends on the type of texture you’re adding but yes, you can often use a roller to texturize a ceiling. The roller needs to be able to hold enough medium to create some relief on the ceiling but not so much that gravity will pull it off before it dries. Using a roller with a nap between ½” and ¾” will allow the roller to hold enough material to do the trick.

The average popcorn ceiling removal costs around $2,000, but prices can range from $950 to $3,100, depending on the size, accessibility, and whether or not there’s asbestos or lead paint.

We don’t recommend DIYing this project to save money, but you can DIY the prep work to speed things up. Consider removing furniture, ceiling lights, and other fixtures before the workers arrive on site. To be extra helpful, cover any remaining belongings with plastic tarps and secure them with tape.
