I then got a text from the salesman saying they'd be out at the end of the following week, much later than I'd wanted them there since the birds had begun nesting in the soffit again. Also expensive - about $500 for a job that took literally 15 minutes - about $80 of that was for the plastic cap they put over the soffit. Not a lot of companies do birds, though, so I went with this one."

Some roofing estimates are performed with drones, while other companies will still opt to send people up onto the roof. Either way, the estimate is for roof repair or replacement costs the company wants you to hire them for.

Whether homeowner’s insurance covers repairs for a leaking roof depends on the cause of the leak. For example, it typically covers the leak in the case of a sudden or accidental event (think: a tree falling on your roof during a storm). However, if the leak starts because you haven’t kept up on the maintenance or your roof is reaching the end of its life span, then insurance usually does not cover it.
