"Fantastic company. They did complete exterior painting, including staining large deck, metal railings, and complete refinishing of front door. They are committed to getting things right and are consummate professionals. I can't recommend highly enough. Our neighbors saw their work and hired them on the spot. Great company and we're very pleased with the results."

"The crew that did the work showed up in a timely fashion and did an exceptional job in painting our house and re-staining the deck. In addition, they replaced all the screens and stripping on the screened porch and did little extras like replacing the exterior spotlights on the corners (since they were burned out) while they were up there. The salesman (Donnie Kuba) has an extensive knowledge of the business and was willing to work with us every step of the way. I have him in my phone contacts and will share with any friend or neighbor looking to do similar projects...."

Deck Staining questions, answered by experts

Unless you’re using a 2-in-1 formula or painting over an existing coat of paint, it pays to apply a coat of primer ahead of your new paint. Decks see a lot of footfall and exposure to extreme and sudden temperature changes and moisture levels. The primer promotes better paint adhesion, moisture repellency, and a smoother finish, which means you’ll often need fewer coats of paint.

A properly applied coat of stain will last between 3 and 8 years, depending on your climate. If you live in a place where your fence experiences a lot of moisture or high heat, your stain will last for a shorter period than in more temperate conditions. We recommend reapplying stain every 3 to 5 years to keep your wood in good condition.

Yes, you can and should paint or stain pressure-treated wood to help prevent the boards from cracking. However, you must wait for the wood to dry out completely before applying any finish. Freshly treated wood can take weeks or even months to dry; a common recommendation is to wait three to six months. To check if the wood is ready, perform a simple water test: drip some water onto the surface. If the water beads up, the wood is still too wet and needs more time to dry. If the wood absorbs the water, it is dry enough to be painted or stained. You can proceed with building your deck or fence while the wood is still wet, but you will need to wait to apply the paint or stain.

Whether to brush or roll stain on wood depends on the project and your preference. Brushing is ideal for smaller, intricate areas and offers more control over the application, ensuring thorough coverage and penetration into the wood's grain.

Conversely, rolling is efficient for more extensive, flat surfaces and can save time. However, it is not always the best fit for textured or uneven wood. Some projects may benefit from combining both methods, using a brush for detail work and a roller for broader areas. Ultimately, the choice between brushing and rolling depends on the specific requirements of your staining project.

Essential tools include brushes or rollers, drop cloths, sandpaper or power sanders, and appropriate cleaning supplies. Quality materials ensure long-lasting results.
