  Would like to start by saying that a lot of time was spent doing research and interviews with numerous roofers. The selection of Excellent Roofing was definitely the right decision! John Bennett (owner) was the project manager. Prior to the job, he took a lot of time to ensure that both parties had a clear understanding of the work to be performed, warranties, materials and he provided a very detailed cost estimate. No surprises with additional costs at job end. The work crew consisted of trained employees not contractors. They were very professional and did a great job. There were carpenters as well as roofers available. All materials were delivered prior to the job start date. They showed at 7 am on 6/12 and immediately got started, however it started raining around noon so the crew ensured everything was securely covered and stopped for the day. They returned the next morning promptly at 7 am and worked until 8 pm taking lunch as well as a few short breaks due to the heat. They returned at 7 am on 6/14 and finished up all the final cleanup around noon. Any issues were immediately addressed by the crew. There were tarps as well as the buggy was used to keep debris to a minimum. The yard/gardens were swept several times magnetically for nails....great job! Another positive with installing a GAF roof system, is that there is an inspection done by GAF to ensure that the roof was properly installed to their standards. Kudos to Excellent Roofing...the roof passed the inspection with top rankings. There was a couple of minor fixes (the garage exhaust vent had to be replaced with a GAF vent and additional sealant added to a vent screw) which were promptly addressed. Roof looks great and utility costs are down due to the added insulation and solar fan. I would definitely recommend John and Excellent Roofing!!! They were great to work with and took pride in their work ensuring that everything was addressed correctly and in a timely mannershow more

  We contacted three roofers to get estimates, two from Angie's list and 1 from neighbor. Excellent had the best package and provided the most accurate picture of what would happen. Once we decided on all the details, they provided written estimates and even walked through everything with the insurance company rep. This helped in smooth and quick processing of the damage claim.   Very good experience - the estimate was more than I wanted to spend, however it has been a long time since I had replaced a roof. Jon recommended solar attic fans, and I was comfortable with this recommendations. Huge crew worked on the project supervised by a foreman.

  We got 4 estimates for a new roof, of which Excellent was the last one. All 4 were listed A+ in Better Business Bureau with no complaints for 3 years. All 4 had decent recommendations from other customers and had been in business at least a reasonable amount of time to build up a reputation. Even though Excellent had the second highest bid, we chose them because of their good Angie's List rating, the 7-year workmanship warranty (longer than the other companies), and the service we received from the knowledgeable staff. It just felt right. Roger and John were very accommodating and nailed several shingle colors to our roof so we could make a color decision. The crew appeared very proficient and did what appears to be a quality job. They came back at our request to adjust the gutters and seemed to care about making every detail just rightshow more

  I was hesitant to hire Excellent Roofing to replace our roof because of one extremely bad report on Angie’s List, created about a year ago. However, we are so pleased with the company! The reason that we wanted to hire this company is because we watched them put new roofs on 2 houses across the street this year and they did a terrific job. A neighbor confirmed how pleased she was with their work. We found their website very informative, the personnel helpful and professional and when we researched what we were paying for, the materials were quality products. We got an Angie's List discount plus one other discount from the roofing manufacturer ($300) since my husband was in the military. The crew began working, both days, around 6:30 AM. They took a 2 to 3-hour break in the middle of the day, each day – and I don’t blame them! The extreme heat here this summer has been dangerous. They then worked hard again until dusk. Although replacing a roof is a messy job, the crew continually cleaned up along the way; the outside looked immaculate when they drove away. We also bought, from the company, a couple of solar fans that they installed in our attic which will impact our utility use/bills, as well as provide us with a tax credit.   Very professional from start to finish. John Bennett took plenty of time to explain all options and was very knowledgeable. Estimate was accurate and fair for the work involved. Work was started and completed as promised. Kept us updated on all phases of the work. John has his own crew and the work went quickly and smoothly. Excellent thorough cleanup. Gave us all necessary forms and paperwork to get tax credit for the Solaris shingles and solar fans. We are extremely pleased with our new roof and gutters.   The company was incredibly professional and responsive. I called John explaining that I had insulation and ventilation issues in my attic. He was the only one of all the estimates I got that took the time to not just say "we need to add more insulation" but also looked looked at what would be the most recommend solution such as adding the soffit vents (as we did not have near enough).   Researched available reports on Angie's List (AL) initially. The primary reason for joining the list was to avoid an extensive selection process on this project. Three potential candidates were considered based on their ratings on AL. Reports were read and then website content was similarly reviewed. Contractor selection was based on the following criteria: * Several reports noted positive experiences with large scope projects involving existing roof tear-off. * Specialized equipment specifically designed for removal and disposal of large quantities of debris - this was a key factor * Minimal damage reported to have incurred to yard & landscaping within reports * Responsiveness and attention to detail in the project planning phase * Ability to deploy a large enough crew to get the job knocked out quickly, efficiently & with minimal disruption - 2nd key factor Initially contacted Excellent roofing via email and followed up by phone. David was assigned as our project manager. We worked through several proposal scenarios and options. Due to the cost it was initially considered to postpone the project for a year. However effects of recent storms made it apparent it needed to be done sooner rather than later. Options were finalized and final proposal drafted. A list of specific tasks was submitted to be included within the contact prior to signing; about 10 items. All were accepted and included as non-cost adders. Preselection of color samples were applied to the existing roof and final selection confirmed that day. Start date was delayed several days due to heavy rains. Once the crews began work the speed at which they moved through the job was impressive. The work was basically completed in 3 days. This is especially noteworthy considering 55 cubic yards of roof debris had to be removed & disposed of. Crew started mid-day on a Wednesday. Inspection walk-thru was completed that Friday afternoon. Corrective actions (short list) were communicated that same evening. Those were completed Saturday AM just prior to the next rain event in the afternoon. Clean-up was thorough. The decking consists of 1x slats so much debris fell down into the attic areas. These access areas were cleaned up as well. Would we use them again? Absolutely and another potential job has already been briefly discussed with them. Both John the owner and David were professional in their communications & interface with us. It should be noted that the price ranking selection was intentionally left selected as N/A. The project was not "price shopped" even though a more competitive bid may likely have been obtainable. Price on this job was high and that is acknowledged. Premium grade material selection contributed to that to a significant degree. Considering the particular challenges involved there was an immediate sense that this company could meet the primary criteria listed above; i.e. quality, speed, efficiency & minimal disruption. They delivered & the roof looks great. We were dreading this task and they made it relatively painlessshow more

  Overall, this was a very well executed project. It took three weeks. To deal with the attic ventilation, especially over the garage, the old roof was removed including the decking. The insulation was blocking air movement. Baffles were installed to allow air movement from the soffits to the attic. New reflective OSB decking was installed over the garage to reflect heat. Decra was installed. 9 months later in the hottest summer in recent memory, the living area is livable. It no longer is an oven and the air conditioning is able to cool the room. The main roofing area was roofed with the Decra. Fantastic appearance. The trim pieces look wonderful. The roof over the rear of the house was roofed with standing seam steel. This was the only area with some issues. To expedite completion of our roof, Excellent hired a sub contractor. The sub contractor did not have the same attention to detail that Excellent had. Over the three months after completion of the roof, Excellent Roofing corrected the issues with the subcontractor's work. There was no problem getting these issues resolved and corrected. Excellent Roofing completely fulfilled all warranty expectations. There was one challenge that I was very pleased with Excellent's solution. The transitions between the Standing Seam and the Decra Roof were at the apex of the roof. The Decra trim piece needed to be riveted to the standing seam steel to allow a proper connection. Very ingenious. I am very pleased with the outcome. It is noticeably cooler in the house. We now have a roof with an expected lifetime of 50 to 100 years. It looks great. The Solar Panels have been installed an no screws were needed to penetrate the roof so there is no chance of a leak (the solar panels bolt to the standing seem roof) I am a very please customershow more
