    We called several contractors for quotes on building a pool and So Cal Builders was one of the ones who actually came to the house. He was very knowledgeable and made it feel like he was helping us come up with some great ideas. Some of the other contractors that came to the house and gave us quotes were pretty stingy when it came to creative ideas, they didn't really allow us to put to much of our input in. But that was not the case with So Cal Builders, it was really nice to feel like we were being heard and they had some fantastic ideas and found ways to save us money. Currently we had to put our project off until next year (personal reasons), but as soon as we are ready to break ground, I know who my first call will be to. Keep up the good work guys

    I can't say enough good things about Top Leader Construction. We had our bathroom totally renovated including a new tub, lights, toilet, vanity, and floor to ceiling tiles. Jason was a great communicator throughout the job and the work was done on time and within the budget. He even came at the end to inspect the work and had some of the tiles redone to his satisfaction. This was our first experience doing work on our apartment and it couldn't have gone better. Will definitely call them again for future projects

    We live in a new Toll Brothers development so we needed landscaping from the ground up. We loved Scott's plan for our home so off we went on this adventure! It took nearly a full year (Covid didn't help) for everything to be finished but we couldn't be happier with the result. Our landscaping is beautiful, in our opinion best in the neighborhood! So excited to be using our pool and slide. Kiddos love it! Our project manager Frank is the best. He made sure slide steps and platform were safe for the kiddos and kept everything running smoothly. He was always available when we had questions and/or concerns. We are living the outdoor life this spring!

    We started with a leak from a punctured hole in our old copper pipe. After interviewing 14 companies, Pool Effects was the company that was chosen. One of the main reasons for choosing Pool Effects was that Edward offered 3-d renderings of the finished project without a fee, something that none of the other companies offered. Pool Effect offers this service only if you chose them as the contractor. This is completely understandable, don’t want a contractor doing all the prep work for free and taking the drawing to another company. This was helpful for people who have a difficult time picturing how the different pieces (coping, tile, pebble, and pavers) will look together. We even used some of the ideas in the drawing to improve our landscape looks. Edward was the only one (before we selected him as our contractor) to provide us with a temporary solution to our leaks. All the other companies just looked at the leak and ignored it. Edward immediately looked at the pipe and suggested a solution, which was extremely helpful. This tells us he is willing to make sure the project was done exactly the way we wanted. Edward also understood the city code well so that they were approved after the first inspection and there was no delay in completing the project. He was also conscientious of the budget and found material that fits with the desired vision of the backyard. Edward also has a great design style and understood our likes/dislikes and helped to create our ideal backyard. The workers were also quiet, arrived on time, and tided the yard at the end of the day. Edward made this daunting remodel much easier and clearly explained each step so that the project was completed within budget, on time, and beautifully. He even made sure our drain blends with the paver but incorporating the pavers into the drain caps. The attention to detail was ridiculously amazing. They made sure we were constantly updated with the project from demolition to delivery of material. He also made sure before and during a particular phase of the construction if we were happy with the design, and also explained the process. Edward was extremely patient with us. We had questions at every turn. We would text, email, phone calls, and even meeting in the morning to go over the day and week's plans, answer our hundreds of questions. Not once was Edward impatient with our questions. Edward also was flexible when it came to our “particular” request. For example, we wanted all the pavers to line up in straight lines. Something not commonly done. Not only was he being able to come up with a workaround, but he also made it looked amazing. Expect Pool Effect to start work early in the morning, right at 7 AM. Their team worked efficiently and fast. Things that slowed down the project were getting city inspectors to show up due to the Covid restriction, and properly allowing the concrete/gunite to cure. So don’t rush these steps. Edward will give you a timeframe to select your color and material. He won’t tell you last minute and rush you, usually about 2-3 weeks outs. As for payment, Edward would provide you with a payment timeline (as each phase is complete). He will provide a “checklist” with his contract. Extremely helpful to us to stay on track. Upfront and transparent. What did we do to our backyard? Complete demolition. / Micro-peddles our pool. / New tiles / New coping / New pavers. / New filter system. / Additional spa / New drainage. / New automation system. / New LED / New autofill system. / New electric heater for spa and pool. / Improve the wall footing look with planters. We have been extremely blessed with the work Pool Effect. There are a few great pool companies out there, but I have to say based on personal experience. Can’t go wrong with Pool Effect

    We had our old 1969 style pool redone by Alan Smith Pools. We requested quotes from 3 companies and went with Alan Smith. Our sales rep - Chris - was the best. He came over when he said he would and he met us at the showroom to help pick out tile and go over the different types of plaster finishes and copings. There were several teams that came to our house to remove the old pool, install new plumbing, install a new Baja Shelf, do the coping and plastering and tile installation. Everyone on the teams were friendly and got along with our dogs. They cleaned up after themselves and did a great job. We received many comments from our friends and family this summer about how wonderful the pool looks. We love the new Baja Shelf. When a friend decided that he saw a rust spot in our pool and tried to fix it, he bleached out the pebble tech leaving an obvious white spot. Alan Smith Pools sent an employee over, no charge, and fixed the bleached out area. We didn't even have to drain the pool

Anthony came right out, gave us some suggestions, and started work faster than I wouldd have thought possible.     We are an HOA Condo Development located in Burbank. After speaking to about six other pool contractors we fortunately chose SBW to do a complete renovation of our 50-year-old commercial pool. Many of the other pool contractor salesmen we spoke to drove a fancy Mercedes Benz and told us how many expensive pools they have built in Beverly Hills. Daniel Stolle with SBW drives a big working pickup truck and he was raised in a pool building family that goes back several generations. Daniel knows the pool building business from the ground up and still gets his hands dirty. The whole process of negotiating the contract was smooth and we never felt like we were being pressured. Daniel was always available to answer our questions and speak to our HOA Board. Throughout this initial process, SBW was great at responding to our email and phone calls. Once construction started, we transited to text messages and we could count on SBW to get back to us promptly. SBW prepared a detailed project plan for our project and they stayed on their plan throughout June and July 2020 during the pandemic. Although we had some minor delays due in the permitting process, the project started and finished on-time. The SBW Team were incredibly helpful and professional in refurbishing our pool. They did an amazing job and exceeded our expectations. The SBW crew members were a dream to work with. The staff were friendly, responsive and they care deeply about the quality of their work. Any issues have been small, and the team has worked quickly to remedy any problems through great communication. I can’t recommend SBW highly enough! The SBW sub-contractors were excellent. The Demo crew, the Chippers, the Plumbers, Cement Crew and the Plasters all were in and out of our property in one day. Their work was fast and neat, and the quality of their work is exceptional. The crews showed up on time and were respectful of our residents and our property. The crews went beyond their normal jobs to take care of special requests without a fuss. For example, one day a vendor’s Driver delivering several pallets of coping and he had a problem safely delivering on our steep driveway. After the Driver broke several pieces of coping, I called SBW and they sent over two men from another job to help the Driver to safely unload the material. SBW has a strong, experienced team who have expertise in numerous trades. I was impressed with the time the crew take in measuring and remeasuring on laying the coping and setting the tile. The concrete lines and storm drains were planned out in detail and the final product looks great because of this level of detail in every part of construction. The crew always take their time to do things the right way. Sometimes things didn’t work out liked they wanted, and they did it over without being asked. These guys have pride in what they do, and it shows in their work. I was impressed with their level of detail. During the process we had several change orders for unforeseen problems that cropped up. We always felt SBW treated us fairly in these change requests. On several items SBW provided more than we expected and SBW ate the additional expense rather than pass it on to the us. We never felt like we were being nickeled and dimed. SBW frequently did little things to go above and beyond to create a memorable, positive relationship. It’s been a pleasure working with SBW and we were a little sad to see them move on to their next pool project. It’s not often when you can find a vendor who keeps their promises and exceeds your expectations. SBW is one of these rare finds! SBW has exceeded our expectations and we highly recommend them. We like them so much we want to keep them around to service our new beautiful pool on a weekly basis

    After reviewing other contractors as well as acting as my own GC, I chose to contract with Matt from MRD. He came highly recommended from a neighbor and his pricing was both very good and broken down into detailed components. It would be hard to find any other legit contractors with overhead and profit rates as reasonable as MRD. Of course, his operation is very lean, no assistants or coordinators or project managers or sales people. Just Matt, always responding and being there. So, he won me over by breaking down the numbers exactly as I had asked. Every other aspect of the project was the same way in terms of professionalism and work ethic. Matt spent a lot of time here making sure everything was done right. He made great suggestions for design elements. His crew and his subs were very efficient, and we felt comfortable having them in the house. They always cleaned up and were respectful of the house. I am not easy to work with as I will question everything, and be there watching all the work getting done. Despite this, Matt and crew always responded to my inquiries with answers that turned out to be the best way to do the job

    Kennah explained the process, and answered all our questions before work began. Steve discussed the option to lay down steel plates to minimize possible concrete cracking of the path around the pool - and we discussed possible access routes- using both small and larger Bobcats. We elected to use the larger Bobcats and to lay down steel plates, as a precaution. Access to the pool still required the partial demolition of a block wall and landscape plant beds. The orchestration of the many disciplines began and there was no down time. No new concrete cracks occurred - (and there were many pre-existing older concrete cracks around the pool) - (Another contractor had said the path around the pool would be destroyed in the process.) Our path around the pool remained intact, a minimum of landscape cutting was done, and the block wall is better now than before. The job was much larger than we imagined – but it continued as planned. This is a demolition job - but the work was expertly performed and neatly buttoned up. We were very pleased with the professionalism of the entire experience
