Most of the outfits are "turnkey", meaning they only provide full service, and the fabric must be purchased from them. One of these companies was kind enough to refer me to Joseph Tharp's workroom (aka Accent Windows). I worked with both Kim (the receptionist) and Joseph (the designer). They were able to provide exactly what I wanted and at a very reasonable price. Joseph came out to install the drapes. He was punctual, friendly, and did a fast and efficient job of installation, including a very thorough steaming. I highly recommend

For the Hunter-Douglas Silhouette window shades, they offer a special "sponge-on and vacuum out" process that (they agreed) would not accomplish the dramatic result that I needed. I'm sure that this process would be fine for routine periodic cleaning of dusty, lightly-soiled shades. They proposed a very similar process for the draperies. For the stone floors, they offered thorough services at a price that is competitive with another company I have engaged for services next week (also highly rated by Angie's List and the BBB)

Cody, the owner, went through the ENTIRE process with me from start to finish, explained everything I needed to know and answered all of my questions. The technicians were in uniform and overall neat in appearance, which is very rare these days. I never thought in a million years my carpets could look this good again. In fact, I was going to replace all of the carpet in my house, but because of the job Cody and Vance did my carpets look brand new. They have the best truck mounted equipment and use steam cleaning only. My tile and grout also looks brand new! I will definitely be using Steam Commander again
- COIT Cleaning and Restoration of HoustonThe drapes were taken down for cleaning within two days of calling for an appointment, and we were told to expect it to take up to 6 weeks to get them back owing to the tremendous flood damage to homes in the Houston and surrounding areas. They were ready in 6 weeks and came back fresh and looking new again. Several pair I had not been able to drape over furniture to keep from getting wet had residual silt stains on the bottom, However it appears that careful brushing with a soft brush is removing the silt bit by bit so the stains are barely visible. The blinds cleaning and upholstered furniture cleaning happened on the same day after the carpeting and tile flooring and baseboards were installed. Sheetrock dust was everywhere until the concrete floors were finally covered, so there was no sense in doing the cleaning until that was done. Again, the cleaning was scheduled within two days of calling for an appointment. And by this time Coit was swamped with calls for help from flood victims. We considered the cost for all the services to be most reasonable and highly recommend this company. We have FEMA insurance and will likely be reimbursed for the expense, but if we did not have it the cost would be affordable. Coit Drapery Cleaners have been around for decades, and my Mom and a dear Aunt had recommended them some 5 decades ago. They were right. The sheetrock installers also recommended Coit. "Topaz (Jacob) did a fantastic job cleaning carpets in three bedrooms & closets, hallway, and stairs. I was injured so didn't have time to prepare for the cleaning but Jacob cheerfully moved all the junk off the carpets before cleaning. He spent extra time on the spots where my dog hangs out to ensure the oils from the dog's hair were thoroughly removed. "After noticing a funny smell when I was pulling my clothes out of the dryer, I was told I needed to get the dryer vent cleaned. So I called Service Express Home Experts, based on their outstanding Angie's Lists reviews. Mike and his crew showed up to their Saturday appointment within the designated time window (after calling me in advance to let me know they were on their way), told me what everything would cost before they started, did the job efficiently and cleaned up their workspace afterward. On another note, when I originally scheduled the appointment, I'd told Mike I was also interested in having my air ducts cleaned, only to later change my mind. At the appointment, I told Mike I was no longer interested in that service. He told me he understood and said to call him in the future if I wanted to get the ducts cleaned. But he did not try to force that service on me, which I appreciated.
