We had several deck companies and general contractors submit designs and proposals for the addition of a screened in porch off the back of our home. Marlon was right in line with the other estimates, but blew away the competition in terms of the amount of time he spent with us, his attention to detail, and his flexibility in meeting our budget and functional needs. We had to get HOA approval and Marlon was very helpful in putting together the required documentation including modifying his plans where needed. We wanted to get the porch framed/screened in right away and then complete the finishing items the next spring (trim, paint, fan, lights, floor, etc). A couple of the contractors we talked to were flat out unwilling to be flexible in this regard. Marlon didn't hesitate and instead, he walked us through what needed to be done up front and what could wait including a detailed breakdown of costs for a couple different options. Marlon was extremely professional and truly a pleasure to work with. The crew showed up on schedule and worked hard over the course of a couple of weeks to complete the work. We were kept informed of any changes and questions along the way. The crew was very professional and left the work-site clean at the end of each day. My wife was home most of the time with our small children and was somewhat concerned about having a bunch of people coming and going every day. The crew (led by Marlon's brother) could not have been more friendly and considerate and quickly made her feel comfortable being at home alone. The work was completed as planned, on time, and on budget. Marlon even took care of several things that came up along the way at no additional charge. They were flexible in making some changes along the way even though I know it must have resulted in some re-work. We needed them to complete the work before Thanksgiving as we were expecting guests. Near the end of the project, they worked late and came out on the weekend to make sure it got done in time. We love our new outdoor space and can't wait for warmer weather. Do yourself a favor and have Marlon come out to sit with you and talk through a design. Then you can rest assured that he will deliver

Owner was very thorough in explaining options and helping me decide the best design to complement the existing exterior lighting. Railing looks so much better than my previous wood railing.

Railing looks great! Owner came to measure the job and was very professional. The installation was as scheduled, went smoothly, and installers cleaned up after the job was completed. I was very pleased with the install and service.

He can do it all. Eric is always personable and helpful. He is a nice person to have on site and easy to work with. I have referred Eric many times. We were so happy with his work and creativity, that we referred him to friend who hired him to build a master suite in a garage. It is beautiful. Friends and business constituents were pleased with his work as well. I guess I have referred Eric a couple of dozen times and you will not be sorry

Eric Cook, a general contractor, owns and quot;Home Renuand quot; and works out of both the Triad (Greensboro, High Point and Winston-Salem) and Triangle (Raleigh, Durham, Cary, Chapel Hill...) areas. I asked Mr. Cook if he could fix some problems in my small home in order for me to turn it into a rental property. (I was a single mom and had purchased a 2-bedroom house before I remarried and we moved into my husband's house.) Mr. Cook offered a free estimate that was easy to understand, thorough and reasonably priced. Mr. Cook even helped me work out an agreeable payment plan (win-win) that enabled me to do the work. Mr. Cook began work in February of 2011 and the house was ready to rent mid-March. I was able to get my house rented for more than my original rent rate by April 1st! The response was overwhelming! Several couples who were interested in renting the house said it was one of the most beautiful rentals they had seen. I had 2 renters in line in case the first couple did not qualify! Mr. Cook did a really quality job bringing out period details (the house was built in 1947) in his choices of neutral paints for the walls and moulding, painstakingly repairing and cleaning the mozaic tile floor (tiny, square tiles in an intricate black and white pattern) in the bathroom, and fine-tuning the landscaping to help the boxwoods and pre-established garden stand out along the main walk. You always hope you can find a and quot;service providerand quot; that will treat your project with care and detail. I know I have a hard time choosing someone from a list in the yellow pages, internet searches, etc. that I can trust to do the whole job, a good job, not overcharge me, and someone you can count on. I have complete faith in Mr. Cook and Home Renu after seeing what quality work looks like. Also, knowing that Mr. Cook can be a resource for all things home improvement-related, I won't go searching again

Not good , Owner was not professional at all , he looked at project did not send quote when I called he said that the job was a pain in the ***, Really two six foot iron rails for a patio. If the job was too small for him he should have said it when he came over. I would not recommend this contractor very unprofessional

They found that the garbage disposal needed minor tweaking to work and that the down draft fan for the range was not vented to the outside. they found old water damage in the attic that was not a problem and water damage under one of the bathrooms. They missed quite a few things that they should have found. I found them over the next 4 months. They did not check the electric system, thus missing at least 2 blatant major code violations that were created by the seller. They only entered and inspected the attic from the garage side, thus they missed possible water damage at the other end of the room as well as the 2 improperly vented bathroom fans. Because they did not look around in the far side of the attic, they also missed that an additional wall had been placed in the home so as to make 1 bathroom 2 (this was discovered by me when replacing a bathroom fan and noticing that the wall had no top plate) They were nice people and the inspection at the time seemed well done and was cheaper than the other places I called, but just the electrical code violation repairs alone will cost me at least 10 times what they charged for their inspection. Read up on plumbing and electrical standards before hiring any inspection company
