"This one-star rating is generous! We are seven weeks into a four-day job at our house! The have been back three times to finish the job and it is still not done. My back yard is a mud pit! I have been informed by the "office" that it will take two more weeks before I can be put on the schedule for a crew to come back. The crew is working from their Lancaster office, and the managers won't return phone calls and are hiding behind the receptionist. I work just a few miles from their Lexington office, so I decided to pop in and talk to a different person only to find out that there is no staff in this office. The website for the Lexington office has a picture of the building and posted hours of 9 am to 6 pm, but it is just a building with mailboxes and a few shared meeting rooms used by several companies. Customer service is absolutely horrible. Think twice before hiring USS!"

The biggest downside to resurfacing concrete is its lifespan. Concrete resurfacing lasts for five to ten years, on average, while a new concrete slab would last for 20 to 30. The cost of concrete resurfacing is much lower, but you get more value from full replacement. Resurfacing also doesn’t address any underlying issues with your slab, so you may need additional repairs, like mudjacking.

Clean with a damp mop and reseal every few years to protect the surface and enhance appearance.

You can pour concrete over a cracked driveway, but it’s important to address the underlying issue first. Pouring new concrete over cracks without fixing any structural problems may lead to more cracks reappearing. A local driveway repair pro can assess whether crack repairs or driveway replacement is necessary before laying new concrete.

For homeowners, it’s better to dry grind concrete. Dry grinding is the method described above and can be done by experienced DIYers for smaller projects. Wet grinding requires a big volume of water, a way to collect the slurry created by the water and dust, and an environmentally-safe place to dispose of the slurry. When you don’t seal concrete, the colors and designs fade, water marks appear, and stains penetrate from the top layer to the lower layers, making them difficult to remove.
