"Our 20 day kitchen remodel ended up taking 6 months to be finally complete. Here is a list of just some of the things that were horrible about this whole experience. *used one of our bathrooms as their own personal one and work space and left it filthy. *did not put anything down on the 50 year old hardwood floors and ruined them to the point that they will have to be sanded and refinished *when we asked for all of the grout that was on the backsplash tiles to be cleaned- the owner said that I wanted them to go through it with a fine tooth comb. No I just wanted the grey grout off the white tiles. *when we asked that the nicks that they had made on the blue cabinets be fixed they replied that this was ridiculous as blue cabinets would show things *we asked for the painter to put 2 coats on and when he came back he only touched up *we had to ask them to clean the new tile and remove the paint and grout that had been left on it *the original thresholds they put down were pieces together and did not even match, we had to ask for that to be replaced *they took chunks of wood out of several places on our stair railing and banister *a new wall was put up and they left it with a gash and chunk missing *they left trash in our front yard *we had to ask them to straighten newly installed light switches and plates * they had to sand the bottom of a door that goes outside so that it would open over the new tile and left a 2 inch area where we then had a draft We will never use them again and would caution anyone about having them do work in your house."

Outdoor Kitchens questions, answered by experts

If you plan to have a refrigerator or other appliances that require electricity, you will need an electrical outlet in your outdoor kitchen. Be sure to comply with all National Electrical Code® (NEC®) codes for electrical wiring and outlets in kitchens. If you do not plan to install a refrigerator or any other appliances that require electricity as part of your outdoor kitchen features, then you do not need to install electrical outlets. However, it is a good idea to install at least one electrical outlet should you decide to use any appliances that require electricity.

Use fire bricks for a brick pizza oven. These bricks are typically used for fireplaces and chimneys as they can withstand high temperatures from heat sources. If you attempt to use any other kind of bricks, it’s likely that this material will crack from such high heat exposure in the best case—and potentially explode and cause serious harm in the worst case.

A few materials are most commonly used when it comes to building a frame for an outdoor kitchen: wood, steel, and concrete or brick. While there’s no best option overall, each material is better suited to different needs. Concrete and brick are typically more customizable than other options, but aren’t as resistant to inclement weather as steel. Wood is the most affordable pick, but it is more susceptible to rot, mildew, and heat than the others.

Your maintenance needs revolve around the type of foundation you choose, as well as how you furnish or decorate it. Patios require little else other than the occasional hose-down, but decks and other wooden structures will require annual power washing and sealing. You may also need to restain the wood every two to three years.

Adding a solid roof rather than building a pergola or leaving the space open will make maintenance much easier. Without a roof, you will need to spend more time sweeping, washing, and covering your furniture to protect it from UV bleaching.

The best height for a pizza oven is one that allows the user to easily see what’s going on inside and comfortably place pies without having to crouch over. In general, that means the opening should be between 36 and 48 inches off the ground. By contrast, the height of the dome is totally up to your preference, because different heights create different results. Shorter domes are better for creating Neapolitan-style pies, whereas taller domes are ideal for NY-style recipes.
