I called Roman Electric to get some work done. There were three issues - one was urgent, one was a safety issue, and one was just to make an electrical map of the house. We scheduled a time for the electrician to come when my wife was home because I work a 9AM-6PM schedule. The electrician came, handed her a quote, and didn't even ask if she wanted to proceed. He just left. I called the company to ask them what had happened, and they put me in touch with the electrician. He told me that since the electrical map of the house (the least important thing) would require two people (not really, it just makes it easier) that he felt like he should come back when he had a second person. He completely ignored the urgent issue and the safety issue that were there, because the "nice to have" thing that I asked for that wasn't really that important was something he wanted another person for. Even though I thought it was odd that he wouldn't have at least offered to do the work after the quote was made I decided to try again. I attempted to schedule the work again, but it was going to be about a week before we could get the electrician out. This is when it was getting very hot, and we needed our fan in our bedroom to operate (the urgent issue). So we scheduled another electrician to come out just to get our fan working (issue with previous owners wiring to a remote unit) and scheduled the original technician for his next availability, May 17. We also agreed to do the additional work that that original electrician recomended for safety/bringing our house up to code. The total work would cost over $1000. I told the scheduler at the time that we never get my wife's schedule for a week until the Wednesday of the week before, so we might have to move that date. She said that that was fine so long as I called and let them know. On May 11 we got my wife's schedule, and I saw that she would be working on the 17th. I called the scheduler and informed her of this and told her that the original electrician stated that he felt that it required two people. She said that she was having a hard time scheduling it, so I told her that I didn't care who came out, so long as someone did, because I could explain to them what needed to be done, and I had the quote from the first electrician handy. She agreed to move the work to May 18. The electrician that we scheduled to come out and fix our fan came and got that working. Then the 17th came. I had to bring my mother to the airport early, but when I came home my wife told me that the electrician was coming (he had just called) and was confused how I was going to handle that, because she was working. I called the scheduler immediately and asked her what was going on. She confirmed for me that she had in her schedule that we were going to have the electrician on the 18th, and she said that he had made a mistake and that she'd let him know. At that moment the doorbell rang, and he was already at the door. I let him know that he had things wrong and that someone would be coming out to do the work on the 18th instead. He apologized and left. After all of this, my wife had an issue come up on the 18th, so I took the day off from work because we had already had so many issues that I wanted to make sure that the work was done without another reschedule. This was my last discretionary day off before I would have to take away from vacation time that I had planned for the year. By 8:20 I became concerned. I called the scheduler to ask what was happening. She seemed confused because she confirmed that the electrician was supposed to be out at our house. She said that she'd get to the bottom of things and get back to me. When she called back, she told me that the problem was that I had not told the electrician that came on Thursday that he was supposed to come back on Friday. There are two problems with this. First, I had no idea if it would be the same electrician since I'd told her that I didn't care, and since she'd had such a hard time scheduling it originally I thought that it must be someone else. Second, it is not my responsibility to tell their employee what to do. What is the point of a scheduler if the electrician just goes where he wants when he wants and needs the customer to tell him where and when he's supposed to report next? I informed her that that wasn't acceptable, that the work was scheduled, and that he needed to come over. She then repeated that he wanted a second person which he didn't have (which isn't necessary, but I understand why he wants it) and that he was already busy on the other job, so he couldn't come. When I said that I didn't care who came she said that no one could come. She then informed me that he would come back on Wednesday the 23rd. She did not ask. She informed. Well, my wife was also working on the 23rd, and I'd used my only vacation day. When I told her about this she just seemed frustrated and just said "well no one is coming today". At this point I asked to speak to her manager. She transferred me, but she didn't tell me that she was transferring me straight to his voice mail. I left a voice mail and informed him of the situation. I asked him to call me back to discuss. That was on the morning of Friday the 18th. It is now Monday 21st. He apparently is not interested in my business despite my willingness to spend a lot of money. Based on the lack of concern from the company's management and the scheduling issues that I'm seeing and that other reviews are stating, I would recommend that people look for another electrical company if you need work. I'm in the market right now, so if anyone has suggestions I'm interested.
Description of Work: Replace remote control unit for fan with switch, remove stereo hardwired into wall by previous owner, make electrical map of house, install two GFCI outlets, and re-ground the house.

Response from Roman Electric Co Inc
"Good Morning [Member Name Removed], We apologize for the disappointment you experienced with our company. On the 18th, we did send two team members to your home for the additional repairs. We are sorry for the scheduling trouble and would like to make it right. We strive for excellent service and in this case, we missed the mark. We have passed your concerns to our management staff. Thank you for your review and we will take this as an opportunity to improve our processes. "

Our master bedroom lost power. Everything else in the house was working fine. I started trouble shooting with the simple things: is there a breaker that tripped, is there any outlet that has a short circuit and so on. The technician was just as puzzled as me about the problem. From that point, he indicated that there was a need of a complete diagnostic to find the problem. It is a $298 flat fee. it could take 5 mins to find the problem, or 5 hours... In addition to the $98 show up in my house fee, I had two choices at this point: either accept their quote once he finds the problem or pay the visit and diagnostic without having my problem solved. Don't take me wrong, they are super professional, clean, and they did a tremendous job by finding the issue. I just wished it was more affordable. The other kicker is that any visit less than 1 - 2 weeks away falls in the emergency category (higher visit price). In the end, the power entry point to the master bedroom is on an outlet hidden behind the bed. That outlet tripped causing a short circuit in the entire room. Until he found that, he checked, the power box, every single breaker and multiple outlets at the house. You will have your problem solved, but it will not be affordable.

$276.00 to repair (2) electrical switches is outrageous. I will never engage their services again. The service technician was professional, no problem there, but at their prices it would take a second mortgage to have any major electrical services performed. A lesson learned, never ever again not for any of their plumbing, heating, or electrical services. The repair itself took only 15-20 minutes, $276.00? If you care about money do your homework.

Horrible, it did not go !! I called Roman electric to schedule time for a quote to have several electrical items completed and the installation of some additional lighting in my kitchen as I am doing some remodeling in my home. The appointment was supposed to be between 9am and noon today. When 12:30pm rolled around and I hadn't heard from anyone I called as I simply could not wait around any longer. I explained to the person who answered the phone what had happened and her response was oh, ok I'll go ahead and cancel your appointment. Nothing else, not oh I'm so sorry I'm not sure what happened, or do you want to reschedule, nothing, just go ahead and cancel the appointment. Apparently they do not need the business! I was skeptical about making an appointment with Roman Electric because prior knowledge of this company was not real positive however more recently I had heard better things from people I know so I thought I would give them a try. Well apparently some things never change, still poor customer service. They did not bother to show up for the scheduled appointment nor did they bother calling to let me know they were not going to be here. Apparently as far as Roman electric is concerned my sitting around for 3 hrs waiting for them is not a problem to them, well it is to me. I could give others the name of another electrical company that has exemplary customer service!! I was looking for another quote as it is never wise to get just one quote, lesson learned lose Roman electric company's phone number. What a waste of my time another thing Roman electric does not seem to care one sin

Needless to say, I did not pursue the garage heater either them. I figured I would give them a try again with their new round of advertising but nope... same ol charge a fee just to give me a quote.
Description of Work: Recently I called them about quoting for a force air heater for a garage. They wanted $59 just to come out for that. Not even a ball park estimate over the phone. I understand it is a cost to come out and do that but that is he cost of doing business. Numerous other companies have since come out to quote for free. I had some experience with them in the past... my last house minor electrical work.... they sent apprentice electricians but still managed to charge he master rate. That is how they operate, charge a fee to come out to tell you how much something is going to cost then you feel backed into a corner because you don’t want to waste that $. That work they performed was ok,kind of a butcher job on moving one outlet. Just know what you are getting into when dealing with them. There are other companies that will tell you how much something will cost FOR FREE before starting the work.

It took Roman Electric two hours to figure out a GFCI outlet in my in-laws' garage was being tripped by a short in Christmas lights that were hung all around the outside of the garage. I am not a professional electrician but am mildly handy and have common sense-- it would have taken me 15 minutes max to diagnose and fix this problem (but unfortunately I wasn't around when this happened). And when I say "fix" I mean simply unplugging the Christmas lights-- that's all that was needed. Somehow Roman Electric spent two hours changing the GFCI outlet and testing the other outlets inside the garage before thinking to check the Christmas lights on the outside of the garage. They then charged my in-laws $332 for their work-- that's just crazy. I still wouldn't have posted this negative review, except they failed to return my phone calls. I called three different times-- each time the lady who answered the phone directed me to another individual's voicemail. I left messages the first two times, and the third time I asked (practically begged) the lady who answered the phone to please have the other individual call me back. But I never got a return call. Buyer beware, there are better options out there for your electrical needs.

The electrician had to come back to hook up the new outlet from the old outlet. The problem was that we didn't know that and had already had new carpeting installed. I had to have a hole cut in the carpeting so he could get to the old outlet. I thought the charge for the work was way too much for the work that was completed. I only had the choice of yes or no to hire them again. I would have selected "maybe" if that had been an option.

Adam was very professional and worked hard throughout the hours he was in our home finding the problem. He located the issue, fixed it quickly, and then replaced all the fixtures that had to be pulled during the checking process. It did take some time to get someone into our home. The first day the estimate was by 4pm and at 7pm we were called to say it would be as late as 9:30pm. We requested they come the next day. They were to be there 10am-2pm but did not make it until 4pm. So, getting them here was a process but once here they were WONDERFUL!

When i called to make an appt i asked if there was standard pricing for any standard services to get a range of how much this would be and they say they don't have any and that is misleading since their techs show up with a spiral bound booklet of standard services and prices. they are outlandishly expensive for simple jobs. These 3 jobs took less than 2 hours and the charge was over $700. the electric an was very professional and perhaps if a future job was very advanced or complicated i would potentially consider them, i would never consider again for smaller jobs.

On the day of the appointment, the plumber called about 8:30 AM to inform me that he was headed to my home next. He expected to arrive around 9:00 AM. This was earlier than our agreed upon time slot of between 10:00 AM and 2:00 PM, but was fine with me. When he arrived, I showed him the slow drains. He looked around and did a quick inspection, then provided me a quote. After I agreed to the price, he went to work and cleaned both drains. Everything seems to be draining much faster now, and he cleaned up after himself. He even left the utility sink better than when I first showed it to him.
