We later discovered a few problems. Nothing major, but still enough to be disappointed that they weren't caught at inspection time: First, we decided to add insulation into the attic. Our report indicated that there were '12-15 inches of insulation in the attic for an approximate rating of R50." Well, he could not have gone into the attic very far. Yes, there were 12-15 inches of insulation in places, but there were other places were there was NO insulation. None. Meaning we could see the back of the dry wall that make up the ceiling. It looked as if someone had gone into the attic, sprayed insulation in a circle, and gone out....you could see the "shadows" made by the rafters that had blocked the insulation. We ended up adding a ton more insulation than we planned on, but thank goodness we had thought to do it! No wonder our heating bills were so high! Second, we had had a recommendation to add GFCI outlets in a couple places in the house: laundry room, bathroom, near the sump. We called an electrician to come in and he said we had GFCI circuits at the circuit breaker. Didn't make sense. Third, the gas fireplace had a note: "Gas fireplace not in service at the time of inspection." Not in service? Light the pilot light and turn on the switch? To discover it was not working at all and needed service to make it work? That would have been nice to know when negotiating the purchase price for the house. The job was done as scheduled and on time, the price was what was quoted. My wife was concerned that the wiring was done properly. So, when we had the car serviced at the Subaru dealership for oil change, brake inspection, etc., I asked the service manager to have the mechanic check out the installation of the remote starter. When I picked the car up the service manager and I sat in the car and reviewed all of the functions of the Subaru key fob and the remore starter key fob. Everything worked fine per Subaru's design. The service manager was very complimentary of the installation done by Fine Details. He said it was the most professional job he's ever seen done by an "aftermarket" installer. Keep in mind, the Subaru dealership installs remote starters too - for 3 times Fine Details' price. Recently the remote starter quit working, I talked to Ken at Fine Details and set up a service appointment. They took care of the problem in a timely fashion at no charge to me as it was still under warranty. I recommend Fine Details as a service provider that you can trust! He yelled at me when I asked him questions and when I told him that I did not like the look of the repairs he was recommending and was wondering if there was an alternate method. He said that I seem to think I know it all alreay and obviously dont want his opinion and threatened to leave. At the start of his evaluation he said that the repairs needed were not all that extensive then after talking with a contractor in the basement privately he changed his approach and added a lot more repairs to his report. He then went behind my back and disclosed information to the seller that was supposed to be between him and I since I hired and paid him. He also convinced the seller that he is the only non-biased person in the area capable of performing a drain tile test which is untrue. I found 3 other Home inspection outfits who are not associated with contractors that were qualified and capable to perform the test for half the cost he wanted to charge me. I now walked away from the home my family and I have been looking two years to find and fell in love with. It was a huge mistake hiring Chuck Weber. He is not an engineer as I was lead to believe nor has he ever worked on a basement foundation in his carreer as far as I know. His whole business is presenting plans that he found on the Wisconsin Assocation of Foundation Repair Proffessionals website which anyone can look up and print out themselves for free! How he has been in able to get away with this for as long as he has beyond me. If you are looking for expert advice do yourself a favor and hire a REAL expert. Chimney Inspection reviews from real Angi homeowners in Stratford, WI
Sent an email late night. Had a call promptly first thing the next morning. They were out to do a roof inspection by mid morning. Received a prompt quote with a clear explanation of everything that needed done, and they had a repair guy out by late afternoon who quickly got the job done....
Inspection seemed complete. We got a good review...48 pages in a binder, with pictures. We purchased the home. We later discovered a few problems. Nothing major, but still enough to be disappointed that they weren't caught at inspection time: First, we decided to add insulation into the...

FAQs for chimney inspection projects in Stratford, WI
The average cost for a professional chimney cleaning is around $250, but prices range from $130 to $400 or more, depending on a few factors. Some things that have an impact on your total include the size of your chimney, the number of chimneys cleaned, and how accessible the chimneys are.
The cost to install a fireplace is $2,440 on average. This cost can range from $150 to $8,000 or more, depending on the type of fireplace, the materials used, and the size.
Electric fireplaces cost around $1,000 to install, and mostly only require wiring installation. Installing a wood fireplace from scratch could cost upwards of $10,000, depending on the foundation needed to support the weight of the fireplace. In addition, gas fireplaces can cost between $2,500 and $10,000.
The National Fire Prevention Agency (NFPA) recommends chimney sweeping once per year as a means of avoiding house fires and massive property damage. Over time, creosote and soot build up in your chimney from burning wood and a lack of ventilation. These compounds are both highly flammable, which means a build-up of them inside your chimney puts you at an increased risk of house fire. Chimney sweeping removes any residue and helps reduce the risk of property damage and personal injury from fire.
The cost to remodel your fireplace is $1,200 on average. This cost can range from $400 to $2,000, depending on the extent of work needed.
If you add a hearth to your fireplace, you can expect to pay between $3 and $200per square foot. However, if you're refacing your fireplace, the price tag will depend on your chosen materials. If choosing tile, you can pay between $1 and $50per square foot, depending on the design. Stone is a more expensive material, averaging between $60 and $70 per square foot.
On average, chimney repairs cost about $455. However, because of the vast range of potential repairs needed, the cost to repair a chimney ranges widely from $160 to $15,000, depending on the type and extent of repairs required.
