"Ben did an excellent job painting our house!! He is very meticulous with his work. Ben’s knowledge in treating and painting the wood is invaluable. He knows what he is doing, and thoroughly explains everything. Ben takes great pride in his work, and he really cared about us being happy, which we were. In addition to painting the house, I asked Ben if he could also make and paint shutters. He was so willing to accommodate our wishes. On our part, we just needed to be patient. The weather got in the way, but the outcome was so worth it. Great job to Ben and his crew! Will hire again!"

"What a great job. Shawn & Sarah did an amazing job. Not only were they exactly the right pros to paint the cabinets but they also were able to guide us on some color choices. They were fair with the price and worth every penny. If you want your cabinets done right these are the people to use. Good communicators. Awesome work. Neat & clean and treated our kitchen like it was their own. I’d recommend them all day long. Thank you guys!!"

Small jobs welcome

"John did an outstanding job. I had him come in to paint a 20 foot-tall foyer and stairway, a difficult job for most, but he finished in just a few hours. He showed up on time, performed outstanding work and cleaned up thoroughly afterwards. His price was VERY competitve, and he went above-and-beyond in every aspect of his work. I will definitely be calling John again for all my painting needs."

Wallpapering questions, answered by experts

While peel-and-stick wallpapers require no time to cure, the adhesives for other types of papers will take a day or two to dry and up to three weeks to fully cure. The differences are the type of paper, the type of adhesive, and the humidity and temperature in the space.

Having dated, peeling, or otherwise damaged wallpaper can decrease the value of your property, so removing that before listing your house is nearly always a good idea; however, since wallpaper tends to be a personal style choice, potential buyers may or may not love your aesthetic as much as you do.

Love the look of wallpaper but want to consider property value as well? Stick with something that is easy to change. If you are thinking of selling soon, make sure your wallpaper hanging is on-point and looks professional with no crooked seams, evenly matched patterns, and minimal bubbling or other imperfections.

Painting over wallpaper is an efficient way to cover it if it’s in decent shape. Before painting over wallpaper, make sure the surface is clean and smooth. You may have to remove minor problem areas, such as lifted seams or small peels, with a sheetrock knife or putty knife. Add a latex- or oil-based primer to keep moisture at bay before painting. You’ll likely need two coats of paint to cover the area.

Darker walls may make tight bathrooms appear even smaller, but one dark accent wall can really make a bathroom pop. Wallpaper with a dark background can add intrigue and sophistication. Still, if you’re looking to open the room up and give it a modern, airy feeling, light colors may work best for your needs. Although there are some popular and unpopular opinions, there’s really no “should” when it comes to personal design choice.

When comparing peel-and-stick and traditional wallpaper, the better choice depends on your specific needs and space. Peel-and-stick wallpaper is more budget-friendly and easier to DIY install. On the other hand, traditional wallpaper lasts much longer and holds up better in a wider variety of spaces, including areas with moisture like kitchens and bathrooms.
