Certified Master Inspector in the Tri-State area. With More than 3000 inspections and 500+ hours of education. Your inspection will be a though investigation of the home from top to bottom including the electrical system, heating/cooling systems, gas detection, CO testing, combustion testing of gas appliances and thermal imaging of the home.

"We arrived after the home inspection had been done and he walked us through everything he inspected. With the things that were found wrong with the house, he explained what he would have fixed and why. He was able to recommend several companies that did the type of repairs that were required. When we did quotes, we called a couple others, as well as the ones he mentioned. His came in at the best rate and did a nice job. The hone inspection itself was thorough and he pointed out some things that we missed in our initial viewing of the home."

"Doug was extremely thorough and thoughtfully answered all of our questions during the lead investigation and once we had the report. Would definitely recommend for residential lead testing."

"We had substantial hail damage on our home. Our home is in Lindstrom, and we looked around and J Hemple Services was recommended. We contacted Hemple Services, and they were at our home the next day to access damages and guide us through the insurance process. Jason the contractor, was very helpful. He showed us different types of shingles and how they should be installed properly. The work crews were on-site daily and were productive and careful not to damage numerous shrubs. Jason Hemple worked directly with the insurance company which helped speed the completion of the project. Bob Waddell"

Lead Testing and Removal questions, answered by experts

The EPA broadly defines hazardous waste as any waste that could pose a danger to humans or the environment. More specifically, it includes any material that could combust or explode under normal temperatures and pressure, as well as materials that are toxic or corrosive. Some common household hazardous waste products include aerosol cans, paint cans, old tires, medical supplies, unused medications, fire extinguishers, cleaning solutions, and lawn care products.

Determining if your water main contains lead involves a few steps. First, check the age of your property, as homes built before the 1980s might have lead pipes. Contact your water utility company for information on your service line material. Then, you can hire a professional plumber to conduct an inspection or use a lead testing kit to analyze water from the main line.

Lead toxicity comes from inhaling lead or consuming it. Before the 1980s, when the government banned lead from consumer use, it could be found in paint, plumbing, pipes, ceramics, and even gasoline. Lead paint is toxic for the same reason lead itself is toxic, which is why lead poisoning from paint presents the same as lead poisoning from water or food sources, with a slight increase in respiratory symptoms vs. digestive symptoms. Lead paint is most dangerous when it’s old and peeling, cracking, or otherwise disturbed. This increases the concentration in the air and, therefore, in breathable air.

You should ask a few questions to ensure that your potential lead removal professional is experienced and qualified to handle lead-paint abatement safely, legally, and properly.

  • What are your qualifications and experience removing lead-based paint?

  • Are you licensed and certified to remove lead-based paint?

  • How do you test for lead paint?

  • What methods do you use for lead-based paint abatement?

  • What do you plan to do with the hazardous material when you remove it from the home?

  • Do you do replacement and painting work or removal only?

No, a standard home inspection includes the basics and does not offer lead paint testing. Professional lead paint inspectors need specific licenses to perform these inspections, which not all home inspectors have. If you suspect lead paint in the home you are about to purchase, you will need to pay separately to have that done. If the findings come back positive, you may be able to negotiate with the buyer to cover the cost of the removal.
