Hello,\nMy name is Youa. I live in West bend WI. I'm happily married, have two beautiful daughter, and two fur babies.\n\nFor the longest I've always wanted to start my own cleaning business, but never moved forward with it. I would like the opportunity to start out small cleaning residential houses. I don't have any experience cleaning houses, but if given a chance I won't disappoint.\n\nAnyone who knows me, will say I'm a clean freak. Some would say I'm overly OCD. But I would tell people "cleaning is my cardio." 😊 \n\nI used to work as a CNA caring for patients. It was rewarding, but felt like something was still missing. While looking for a different career change in Healthcare, I stumbled across Sterile processing tech, wondering what this position entails. Come to find out it involves cleaning instruments for surgeries. Seven years later I'm still doing what I love. This position may not be direct caring for patients, but knowing I'm helping patients stay safe in other ways.

Garage Cleaning Services questions, answered by experts

The best paint for a garage door depends on the door's material, the desired finish, and durability requirements.

Paint Type

The type of paint you need often depends on the material of your garage door:

  • Aluminum Doors: Typically require exterior acrylic paint.

  • Vinyl and Wood Doors: Exterior latex paint is usually recommended.

  • Steel Doors: Professionals often use latex or oil-based paint.

You can choose between acrylic, oil-based, and latex paints. Acrylic paint offers excellent UV and weather resistance and dries quickly, but may require multiple coats. Oil-based paints are very durable and may only need one coat, but they dry slowly and emit more VOCs. Latex paint is available in a wide range of colors and is forgiving to apply, but it can crack over time and may require a primer for even coverage. For an eco-friendly option, consider acrylic latex paint.

Paint Finish

You have a wide variety of finishes to choose from, including semi-gloss, gloss, satin, eggshell, and matte. The choice is largely based on personal preference, but many people opt for a semi-gloss or gloss finish. These finishes dry to a hard, durable surface that stands up well to humidity and regular wear and tear.

Regardless of the type or finish, it's crucial to use a quality exterior paint that can withstand the elements. Using a primer before painting will ensure better adhesion and a more even, long-lasting result.

You should spray garage door lubricant on its important mechanical parts, including the hinges, rollers, springs, bearing plates, lock, armbar, and, potentially, rail. Do not lube the tracks, though you should clean these regularly for optimal performance.

Regular checks of structural elements, weatherproofing, and energy systems.

While the benefits of garage door screens usually outweigh the downsides, there are some cons to installing one. First off, they can be quite expensive, especially if you’re having a professional install a retracting screen or a custom size screen. Second, they let fresh air and natural light in, but they also don’t provide the same privacy from people in the neighborhood that a solid door does. As you might guess, screens also won’t insulate your garage, so they’re often not usable in colder weather.

The average cost to install a new garage door is around $1,224, with most homeowners paying between $755 and $1,696. However, the total price can range from $250 to as high as $4,500 depending on several factors. Key cost drivers include the door's size, type, style, and material. For instance, wood or wood composite doors are typically more expensive than vinyl or aluminum options. Insulation also affects the price. Labor costs are often bundled into the total price, but if billed separately, can range from $200 to $500. Due to the complexity and danger, professional installation is recommended.
