This tree must be over 50 years old and stands in my backyard. With heavy winds several huge branches have fallen into my backyard causing a mess in the past. This year it needed my attention so I hired Cascade Tree Works to prune and haul away the heavy branches as well as the dyeing limbs to allow sun to come through. They arrived on time, did the work asked of them and cleaned up all the branches and limbs left behind. You could not even tell they had been here. Thank you Anglies list for pointing me in the right direction. I would hire this company again.

The company scheduled my service for a Friday, and said it would be around mid-day. The afternoon before that date they called and left me a message saying they needed to reschedule. I called them back about 20 minutes later, but no one answered so I left a message saying that re-scheduling to Monday would be fine. At 7:45 AM the following morning I heard a chainsaw start up. I looked out my bedroom window to see someone already up in the tree in the backyard cutting it down. No one had called me or even knocked on the door, they'd simply let themselves into the back yard and started in. When I left for work about an hour later there were several workmen trimming the front tree and I had to climb over branches to get to my car and move the parking cones out of the way - they all completely ignored me. The quoted work was done when I got back and some clean-up was done, but it wasn't exceptional. There were several big and small branches laying around and debris pretty much everywhere. The tree in back was cut into sections and scattered around the area. No one ever called me to explain the mixup, no paperwork was left explaining what had been done. I thought the quote for the work I wanted done was a bit high, but this company had lots of good reviews so I assumed that the work would be high quality. I was disappointed every step of the way. Their lack of communication and customer service is exceptionally bad.

He suggested I contact you as a refund was out of his control. He did give me some quick advise on the tree and was quite nice. It was just too big a job to meet their criteria, which he admits was not very clear on "Big Deal"

The owner came to give us four bid options from trimming the suckers to worst case scenario depending on if the tree was badly decayed. Because of the time of year and they had just come back from vacation they had quite a back-log - but they were well worth the wait. Three men came, they tested the tree and found only slight decay. They performed the work in a very timely manner. It was a very hot day! But all three were very professional, courteous, informative, responsive to our questions, and pleasant. They also removed a couple branches from a tree encroaching on our neighbor's property. This was EXCELLENT service provided by all members of Cascade Tree Works we had contact with including their office staff. We highly recommend Cascade Tree Works!
Description of Work: First they inspected then drilled the tree to check for decay. They removed sucker growth from large cottonwood tree. Removed most of the branches growing toward the house for weight reduction on the trunk. Installed cobra cables for a triangle support. Removed and chipped all of their cut branches and leaves.

It went great. I wrote the providers first Angie's List review two years ago and they are as good now as they were then. They arrived on time and ready to go to work. Work was done as scheduled. Accidentally cut a sprinkler line while working but repairs were handled quickly and effectively. Came back several days later to clean up sidewalk and generally tidy up work area. Braced the tree against wind damage, came back and removed the brace as promised. Good news - tree is budding right on schedule!

They did an excellent job. After a previous experience of having another, identical tree removed, I checked your list for a reliable person at a resonable price. This was less than half the cost and was done perfectly. We would recommend them for other jobs, in fact our neighbor has already scheduled them for his yard.

The tree removal was perfect. I had to work the day it was removed. When I came home from work, I could hardly tell the tree was ever even there. The subcontractor hired to do the stump grinding, took a little longer than I expected to set the appointment, but when he finally did call to make arrangement to get it done, he did a great job and was very nice over the phone. Overall the entire process went very well and I was very pleased with Greg's work and would definitely hire him again

After evaluating the condition of the trees I was advised that I could wait another year before they needed to be pruned. Other providers might well have gone ahead and performed unnecessary work and charged me for it. Cascade Tree Works was honest and straightforward with me and saved me some bucks!

We had four trees we had been taking bids on, and one morning they happened to be handing out fliers. Their bid was the best one we had received by several hundred dollars. They showed up on time and were professional. Most of the trees were surrounded by flowers or other plants we didn't want damaged and they did a great job with protecting the already existing landscape. They removed the trees faster than expected and even took care of the limb removal with no extra charge. ( We kept the firewood. ) They did an even better job than expecting and did a great job with cleaning up their mess when they were done. Thank you!

We had 4 estimates from different companies. Cascade Tree Works was our first and we were impressed by them right off. They were super professional, obviously knew their jobs and were exactly on time. They looked at all the trees individually, answered questions, took detailed notes and were the only ones to leave us with a free estimate in hand. They were easy to talk with - we liked thier positive attitudes. Both Greg the owner and Colton, the companies certified arborist, came out for the estimate - which was impressive. They both have many years of experience working together and we liked that. They had a great energy - and were excited to do the work for us. They also both came out on the day of the job too. They arrived early, had enough people to do the job, and all were very professional, hard working, nice guys. Also, they saved us hundreds! The Cobra Cable system is more expensive, as it costs them more for the Cobra kits, but their prices were so reasonable that it allowed us to easily afford the better system. The other 3 estimates were 700.00 - 3000.00 higher, and I'm not kidding! Even with that, we didn't go with Cascade based on just the price, we took EVERYTHING into consideration and felt they were the best for the job. These trees were over houses, sheds and fences and most were huge. We wanted someone who knew what they were doing without question, who would know how to best support the huge branches and double trunked tree we had, who would prune carefully, taking the looks and health of the trees into consideration, and someone who was honest about what was best for our trees. We felt we got that with Cascade. Also they worked us into their busy schedule without us having to wait a month or more. They even came out on the same day of their out of town overnight company Christmas party because it was the date best for our needs - we actually didn't know they had those plans until we mentioned we were going to the same place ourselves the day of the job. We would have understood if they wanted to reschedule but they just worked efficiently all day and maintained a positive attitude and still took time to answer questions and go over the work to be done one more time before they started. Greg also followed up with a phone call recently to be sure we were happy with the work. I want to mention the Cobra Cabling system. It was a new idea to us. Many places will use a more traditional method of drilling through the tree using metal cables to support huge branches. At first we thought traditional was fine, but after our own research into the Cobra system Cascade offered, it became the much better choice for the sake of our trees. This system allows the branch that the trunk is supporting to move about to a certain extent with the wind or snow yet still gives it the support it needs to not break. This is very important because at the furthest point of branch movement in heavy wind, a metal cable has NO give and stresses the branch and the trunk even more because it causes a whiplash effect or snapping type pull ... but the Cobra system allows movement to the furthest point gently because it is a synthetic band that has some stretch to it (notice the loops in the photo) its entirely safe for the tree because it stops the movement gently instead of adruptly. Also,we decided we did not want any drilling into the trees, that just seemed so invasive after researching... its not even easy to drill into the tree, if the line going from the tree to the branch isn't lined up exactly with the drill line going through the tree it can stress the tree trunk even more. So that system really needs to be done carefully. There really wasn't a choice in our minds after reading so much about the Cobra Cabling. We looked up reviews of it, spending at least 3 hours learning about trees and cabling systems. In other countries this is the main system used actually, so we were excited to be able to afford it for the comfort and preservation of our trees. I know my review is long, but I wanted to share everything that I thought about when getting estimates. We will not need to hire anyone else for future tree needs, we only need to call Cascade Treeworks. In fact, we suggest you buy them lunch- They will appreciate it and they deserve it! You'll save enough that you can buy yourself lunch too~
Description of Work: We had 11 trees worked on: 2 huge Deodora trees pruned and a Cobra Cabling System installed on both, with 2 cables on one tree and 1 cable on the other tree. 2 other trees elevated off a fence and deadwooded. A rare Sourwood tree over a small pond was carefully pruned and one tall dead trunk of that was removed. A Willow tree pruned. One small but wide Fir tree removed. A tall Ceder over our house was trimmed. They Limbed up 2 big fir trees hanging over the fence and roof. Deadwooded a Large Hemlock.

Greg Richardson came out to take a look at the work I needed done and to give me an estimate. He arrived on time and his confidence and knowledge of trees quickly put me at ease. I was relieved that the person doing the estimate was the one that would be performing the work. During our walk around the property he answered all my questions and gave recommedations that made sense and took lots of notes. He did not try to upsell me, and in fact suggested the best price was for me to get all the work done on one day, and that alone saved me $200! He gave me a written estimate and a few open dates we could schedule and was not put off when I said I needed a day to decide about all we had discussed. I called him the next day and we set the date. He even went the extra step of obtaining a card reader for his phone so payment could be made with my American Express. Greg called the morning we were scheduled to let me know he would be a few minutes late. When he and his crew arrived, he got things underway very quickly. He brought the estimate with him and we reviewed it before any cutting began. From the moment I watched him fall the first pine in exactly the tight space available and climb way up in the tall fir to make the first precise cuts just where and how we discussed, I knew I was right to hire a professional arborist rather than just some guy with a chain saw. Quick as a wink his crew came to pick up (and rake up!) all the debris, and he was off to the next tree. With great precision that comes from experience and natural skill, he worked his way through all my troublesome tall old trees. With his safety lines attached he moved up and down, right and left, cutting, trimming, shaping and pruning, carefully lowering branches and large pieces of cut limbs down to his helpers on ropes so as not to damage any of my beloved shrubs growing below. He managed his crew very well, and they all worked together at a fairly rapid pace through the day. There was no goofing off, or wandering around the property, leaving trash or time wasting. They followed Greg's orders and they were respectful and polite to him and to me. I think it is notable that although Greg scheduled 3 workers to help him but only 2 were available, he made no excuses and got the entire job done even though I know they all worked harder to take up the slack from that one absent worker. Although working in sometimes very tight areas near and over the house, he didn't so much as touch the roof, gutters, windows or siding with any brush, limbs or debris. Although I did not specify beforehand, he and his workers, at the end of a very long and hard-working day loaded and took away the wood that was not chipped, and he donated it to charity for firewood to help a needy family. What a thoughtful thing to do! As work progressed, we decided on a few changes, which was fine with him. We decided to prune and save the old storm damaged white pine rather than cut it down. He did a masterful job with that eyesore turning it into an asset in my landscape. I was very undecided about one particular tree and he suggested keeping the nice young fir rather than removing it and to this day I am so glad he chose to save it. It looks beautiful now. He just knows what is right for any given tree. Greg clearly loves trees and is quite at home working among them. He improved everything he touched in my yard. I have no hesitation about asking him come back to work on other trees this fall and have recommended him to two close friends that need his professional touch.
Description of Work: As discussed during my free estimate, three mature, storm damaged firs and tall pines were limbed and thinned and many large broken limbs and deadwood were removed, improving their health and appearance. Two rows of tall, unsightly arborvitae were topped and shaped. A large hazardous pine leaning over the roof was removed. Another large weak and damaged pine and three firs that had outgrown their space in the landscaping were removed. A very large deodora cedar near the house was pruned, shaped, thinned and several cracked limbs were removed.
