It was a good experience. They had a good crew. They were clean and on-time, on budget.

The sales man John was very pleasant to talk with. He gave us a competitive estimate to start with. There was some confusion in the pricing because we need an internal-to-external gutter conversion. The final price went up due to that matter. But overall the price is still good. The crew that did the work was also quite good. They are punctuate and finished the job neatly. The only complain I have is that I found a dozen used nails on my drive way afterwards. Admittedly these nails blended in with my gravel driveway thus are very hard to discover. But still I thought the clean up could be done better. All-in-all I am satisfied with the service. There are still many years to come before I can fairly evaluate their workmanship. But from the outside look I think the job is done well.

John was prompt to respond to our request for an estimate, very informative, and delivered a competitive bid to the two we'd already received. Sallie, who must run the office, left us messages at every step of the process to either schedule something or give us a heads up. She's wonderful! And the crew, lead by Abraham - my goodness they're efficient. We gave these guys a tight deadline to finish the project and they finished half a day early. For how messy roofing is, I was absolutely blown away at how clean they got the yard, too. Because of how our property is situated in a hill the dumpster couldn't be brought up to the house and had to be parked street side. Meaning the tear off landed in our yard, on our porch, EVERYWHERE and was then carried to the dumpster. Our property was immaculate when I got home from work. All plants survived. John arrived for the estimate on time. Like all but one of our other estimators, he did not get up on the roof, which in all fairness is a little risky to access. He relies on an internet service to provide sizing for the estimate. John was very professional, very friendly, and very thorough, answering all my questions, and providing excellent information about areas of the roofing business where attention to quality really makes a difference. It was his discussions of the values that his company lives by, and discussions on how they manage their workforce (all full employees) that went a long way to convincing me to work with his company. Unlike a couple of the others, he was not able to provide the estimate on the spot, but sent it by e-mail several days later - which was fine. Their price was competitive, but certainly not the lowest. There are several points where their materials are superior to those others were working with (not including the roofing itself), so despite their higher estimate, I decided to use Valentine Roofing. John came to finalize the details, and we should be getting the roof done in a few weeks. I will admit to being disappointed with one factor of my experience with Valentine so far. They have an Angie's list coupon for $500 off roofs over 1500 sq/ft. We missed that limit by 50 sq/ft, and that was that. Some of the other companies offered a pro-rated discount, but John wouldn't give me any break on that item. I'll let you all know in a few weeks if I made the right decision.

EVERYONE WAS GREAT. THE ESTIMATOR (JOHN) SPENT A LOT OF TIME ANSWERING OUR QUESTIONS. THE CREW SHOWED UP EARLY AND WORKED HARD ALL DAY. THEY SPENT A LOT OF TIME CLEANING UP AND LAYING OUT TARPS TO PROTECT OUR YARD. THE END PRODUCT IS EXACTLY WHAT WE EXPECTED. WE ARE VERY HAPPY WITH OUR CHOICE OF VALENTINE'S AND HAVE SINCE RECOMMENDED THEM TO 3 FRIENDS WHO HAVE CONTRACTED WITH THEM.

The roofing crew was just AWESOME. They showed up on the two hottest days of the week and did a fantastic job. The new roof and sky light look great. Several days later, the gutter guys showed up and, despite some problems with my siding, installed my new gutters and downspouts flawlessly. My house looks rejuvenated with the new roof and gutters.

Valentine roofing was a pleasure to work with from start to finish. I could not have asked for a better service experience. The 3/4 taper sawn heavy cedar shakes were 100% edge grain, pressure treated and is truely the best shake roof job I have seen. The very reasonable bid came in on time, and work completed as scheduled. I was impressed with the quality and skill of the workmanship. This firm has an excellent crew with many years of experience as a team. They really are impressive. I give them my highest recommendation.

I contacted Valentine Roofing for a bid on a new roof. The estimator, Kes Anderson, was able to come out the following week and provide a comprehensive bid. He took time to explain materials used, looked into the attic to assess conditions of the plywood and was able to incorporate small insulation project into the total bid at a very competitive price right on par with insulation companies. The project had to be completed by a specified date and he made sure it could be done. Kes was very professional, respectful, and honest. The bid was very competitive and did not have any hidden surprises. VR did not add extra charges for labor conditions even though the house sits high off the street (15 stairs). Before making the decision to hire VR, I reached out to the owner, Connor, who spent at least 30 minutes with me over the phone going over any additional questions and details -- this level of personal involvement and transparent pricing made them the best choice. The project was scheduled promptly within 2 weeks from contract sign date and crew arrived on-time. They had a hick-up with scheduling that delayed work for 24 hours and the coordinator was quick to reach out to explain the situation and provide options. The following day a new crew arrived with crew leader Leo. Leo's team was respectful, moved pots/outdoor furniture out of the way to avoid damage, arrived on time to start at 8:30am and since they had to work on a Saturday the following day , they made sure not to start before 9:30am as per my request. The neighbors were happy! The job was done in 2 days and the team returned in the morning on day 3 to meet with me for project walk through and put all tree pots/outdoor furniture back into its original spots. Leo explained all nuances of the work and provided pictures as requested to show how insulation was done. They cleaned up after themselves completely at the end of day 2 and I did not find any damage to property afterwards. The roof has been in place for 2 weeks now and looks great! I have recommended VR team to my neighbors for their roofing projects and would hire them again.

My wife and I are very happy with the excellent work Valentine Roofing did with our roof. Valentine Roofing has great represenatives that work with their company. Pricing was very competative and affordable along witht great customer service. The new roof was installed and complete within 9 hours. Yard was clean after work was complete. I would recomend Valentine Roofing to others.

It went really well. They left the place really clean, and they were really fast just as expected.

Everything was great. The only issue was that we had to wait a few weeks since they were busy on other jobs. Aside from this, they charged a competitive price and did quality work. It was a pleasure to deal with them.

I got estimates from four companies. Valentine roofing I think had the best presentation and their pricing was right in the middle. They told me in early December the job would start in late December depending on weather conditions. We had a lot of rain that month and the job was postponed until January. they called in January and told me the material would be delivered at the end of the week and they would start work on Monday. The materials where delivered as was a dumpster. The rain continued and the job didn't start until the following Thursday. I was notified every step of the way and never felt like I didn't know what was going on. The crew showed up at about 9:00 Thursday morning. They finished the job by about 6:00 PM that day. All of the debris was cleaned and the dumpster was taken away the next day. The roof looks great. Everyone I dealt with Valentine Roofing was very professional and informative. Except for the weather delays, the company did everything as described during the estimate. I am very impressed by Valentine Roofing and I would highly recommend them to anyone wanting a quality company working on their home.

The service was excellent. They did a great job. Everything looks very nice, and I have no complaints. I would recommend them.

Overall very happy with the timely completion of the work. Not happy about some of the mess but it was expected. Also the crews don't speak english so we had to call the lead everytime we needed something. The quality of the roofing material, installation and venting was first rate. The few minor problems (windows screens damage and some marks on the siding) were quickly addressed. Response time was alway minimal, we never had to wait very long for a callback.

It was pretty good experience. Kes helped estimate the roofing cost and was following-up on time with email and phone call;the crew came on time and did great professional job. Their quote is competitive and they are responsive on inquiries.

The salesperson gave us 4 bids after helping us eliminate a number of options on composite shingles. The work crew was great; they beat the rain on the first day. One scarcely noticed their presence. Occasionally, I would hear someone singing which was quite enjoyable when compared to some roof jobs I've seen where someone has a boom box with all that canned music. The crew was done in three days. They cleaned up well, At one point, I asked the crew chief to move the place where a new light was being installed. Not only did he change the location but he also patched the hole in the ceiling that had been made to mark the location.

They did quality work and they were very efficient. The customer service was very good. They were excellent at scheduling and follow up. They cleaned up wonderfully. They were pleasant and respectful. They took care of everything. It was a really good experience.

Our attic, in the area of the roof leak, had no access; so I was worried one would have to remove the air-vent fan to get a look to see where the dripping was coming from, or even cut a hole in the ceiling. The roof is also very steep and I was worried about getting injured while climbing it. Based on a coupon in the mail, and after verifying this contractor on Angie's List, I called Valentine roofing and was given the base price for roof repairs. They were also able to send a crew out the day after I called. The crew arrived close to the start of the arrival window, and the foreman took a look at the leak in the bathroom. He then climbed up on the roof with his crew, where they were quickly able to find a defect in the flashing, at our chimney next to the bathroom, which would allow water to overflow down the side and into our attic. This they repaired. From start to finish, including repair of the flashing, the whole process took about half an hour. We were billed later, and there were no additional charges from the original flat fee. I found Valentine Roofing to be very efficient and adept at finding roof defects. I was pleased we didn't have to tear up our bathroom. They also assured me that if the problem occurred again, they would send the crew back out to finish the job. However, given the water stains down the side of the defective flashing, they were virtually certain the problem had been fixed once and for all. Their crew was efficient and well trained. I would definitely call them again!

Overall the process went well from start to finish. We took 4 bids for the roof and John Anderson, valentine's salesman was the most strightforward and no nonsense. It was clear that Valentine is experienced with replacing cedar shake roofs as a specialty, whereas other compnies we took bids from did not do many cedar shake roofs in any given year. We thought about alternatives to shake, but in the end replacing our current cedar shakes with high quality replacement cedar shakes could not be beat for the price and value. If we obtained composite or fake shakes then a new layer of plywood or rubber shakes. The Euroshake was quoted out at over $32,000! The new real cedar shakes only ended up costing about $2000 than architectural composite replacement. Quotes for real cedar by the other guys came in more expensive for lower quality shakes. After we thought about it going with valentine was a no brainer as we were getting a lot for our money. Plus the roof would actually look and smell like cedar - because it was! We were disappointed to be delayed until the first week of October when the contract and $5000.00 deposit were done in late August, but understood that the company is busy. They use two dedicated crews each led by one of twin brothers with a passion for cedar shake roof (although they will do other types of roof as well). The first week of October came and Connor the owner called and said they would need to delay again due to an emergency job that came up suddenly that he needed to use the assigned crew to our house. Apparently the roof was leaking at the other job. Unfortunately our roof was beginning to leak too, but we waited. The toughest part of the job came when the dumpster was delivered to our tiny shared driveway without any prior notice. Luckily my wife was home and could get the neighbors to move their car out of the shared driveway and off the street so the dumpster could fit. The guy delivering the dumpster was mad because he was given a picture of a house on the east side with a huge 2 car driveway on a cul de sac - not anything like our narrow street and driveway. Then the dumpster was hauled away due to the delay and then returned again on another day. A bit of a communication break down there, but we got through it after I spoke to Connor. Once the crew led by Leo finally got started things went quite smoothly. The gutters followed and I had one concern about them that was promptly answered to my satisfaction. Overall the job was done to my complete satisfaction. It looks beautiful. Many neighbors have stopped by to compliment the roof and say how much it improves the overall look of the street we live on. Connor left us a nice personalized gift box after the job was completed. They were careful with our landscaping. We would recommned Valentine Roofing to anyone who wanted a quality cedar shake or really any new roof.

Very pleased witht the experience - at least as pleased as one can be spending that much! Work was done quickly and competently, and as described and promised. They even cleaned up afterwards. Salesman was very educational and informative without being high pressure. Work was on time and as quoted. Was pleased with the company approach of using set teams instead of random sub-contractors. Their experience working together was apparent just watching them and in the quickness of the work: 2+ days. Very conscientious of my house with working in and around the rain in November. I recommend them. Competent. Efficient. Met expectations. Price was at or below other bids - and way below one other bid.

They were very good. They did everything that they said they were going to do. They did an excellent job cleaning up afterwards. I only found one item that was stuck in a bush and they wouldn’t have seen that. They are very nice people. They did it in the time they said they would. They did a nice job. The quality of their service was nice. I will use their services again in the future.

I received several bids for my roofing project and Valentine Roofing was very fair in their pricing. John Anderson was my primary contact during the bidding process and he was very professional and really understands the roofing business. The work was performed on time and the crew was very professional and polite. They cleaned up each day and did a good job of protecting mature plantings around our house. The gutter specialist was very skilled and did a great job of modifying the downspout configuration to better handle runoff. The only glitch was that the dumpster wasn't hauled away when it was supposed to be. I called Connor Valentine and he apologized for the delay from the dumpster company and promised to follow up. It was gone the next morning. The roof and gutters look great and I would definitely use Valentine Roofing again.

Of the people I spoke with about roof work, Connor Valentine seemed the most knowledgeable, and the most interested as well. He sent John Anderson to give me an appraisal and an estimate, and like Connor, John seemed well versed in the roofing business, and my needs. We agreed to a plan, and roofing material and a dumpster arrived on schedule, followed the next day by Abraham Duarte and his crew. Off came the old roof and on went the new--in two days--except for a few ridge shingles which Abraham replaced next day. I don't know how hard most roofers work, but Connor's crew seemed to me to be unusually diligent, and they worked as a team under the skillful leadership of Abraham Duarte. A first-class team.

The whole job was completed start to finish in 1.5 days. Pricing was the best of three estimates received. The crew and supevisor were very responsive and pleasant to work with.
