things went very good. It started with my call to Valentine, and the gentleman who answered the phone was very kind and provided me with good info as to lead time, and when it could be started, and when I could get an estimate. The estimator that came out was also great. He was on time, actually early, hopped up on my roof, took measurements, looked over everything, and even went into my creepy attic to check the status of the wood underneath. He gave me the bid on the spot and that was very helpful because I already had 3 other bids. Valentine was right in the middle price wise but the reason I chose them was not just the good customer service, but also because their ratings are amazing, and they are labeled the #1 roofing company in western washington. I'm glad I made the choice to go with them. The whole project was completed in 5 days, and would've probably been 3 but there was some rain on one of the days and they did a great job tarping my roof and making sure everything stayed dry in between. Overall I can't be happier as it's almost a year later and I have had no problems, leaks, or anything bad to say. I would def recommend Valentine Roofing.

It couldn't have gone better. Rene and his crew were some of the nicest, most pleasant guys I have ever met. My job was a challenging and messy one because of the extensive landscaping around the house and the fact that it was two layers of composite over shingles with no sheathing. These guys were pros, and my neighbor across the street who could see the working described them as "poetry in motion" because of their efficiency. They managed not to damage anything, left the work site spotless each day and answered all my questions. At the start and end of the job they gave me a phone number to call them at any time if I had any questions. The fan vents were replaced and now work better than before and they worked around my solar tubes without any problems. My walks and deck ended up cleaner than before they did the work! The company inspected the job after it was done and called to make sure I was happy. I wouldn't hesitate using them again or recommending them to friends.

The work that Valentine did my on my rental property roof itself seemed acceptable. Unfortunately their follow up service and the problems they have created has made me realize they are, in my opinion, a very greedy company that doesn't stand by their workmanship. When doing the roof, Valentine apparently changed the shingle line. So, the first rain after the new roof, and water is sheeting down into a breezeway, entirely missing the gutters, and entering a bonus room, which had never happened before. I had Valentine come back out to take a look at getting the problem rectified. Their response was that it wasn't related to the roof and that I would have to go elsewhere to pay to get the gutters moved. Let's take a look at this: If a problem didn't exist before you came out and did work on a property, but exists after you left, it is YOUR responsibility. Valentine appears to me to be a shady company that I cannot recommend to anyone. Avoid Valentine and avoid headache.

We have never spoken to the individual who posted this. The project at this address was managed through a Property Management group and not through this individual. When this complaint was posted we reached out to this group and have not received any indication of dissatisfaction. This review is from a friend of a recently terminated employee. We feel very strongly that this review is the latest of a series of attempts by this former employee to harm us. Due to the reasons above we don't consider this to be a legitimate complaint.

We are completely satisfied with the job that Valentine Roofing did on our older home. The section they did was hard to reach and had very difficult angles. Eric, from Valentine, skillfully attended to every detail and, even my husband, who is VERY critical, was delighted with the results. The job turned out to be very difficult and time consuming, but Eric was patient and the final product was masterfully done. We have more work to do and will definitely depend on Valentine for our roofing needs! Also appreciate Denise in the Valentine offices. She was a pleasure to work with!

Bid was completed in a timely manner. The estimated time for the roof project to begin was 8-10 weeks but was completed at the 11 week mark. Not upsetting as I know that there are so many variables when it comes to construction and I was kept well-informed of the delay. Now that the roof has been completed, I have no regrets in choosing Valentine Roofing. The crew was great, the cleanup was great and the office staff was great. My new roof looks amazing! Could not have asked for a better experience.

If you don't know how to roof a house you won't know if the roofing crew is doing a good job or not; which applies to most people writing these reviews. We had to be out of town when the crew installed 3/4 of our roof and when we got back we found the crew hadn't cleaned off the roof properly before laying down the felt. Under the new felt where they hadn't shingled yet we found staples sticking up, chunks of old felt and shingles, even 8 penny nails; and not just a few, it was everywhere. They also hadn't installed the water/ice barrier properly, and the ladder they used on the lower roof to get to the upper roof had the pads on the legs up which also damaged the felt. When we pointed out the problems to the crew leader he proceeded to nail down the staples through the felt, tearing holes in the felt in the process. After putting a stop to all work and many phone calls; after three days we finally got a supervisor out to look at the job. He said they would redo the roof over the first floor but not over the second floor. We told him we didn't believe the crew did any better work on the roof they installed while we were gone than what we saw on the unfinished roof. After arguing with him for some time the supervisor went up on the second story roof and when he came back down he told us the whole roof would be torn off to bare wood and replaced. He never said what he saw up there to make him change his mind so quickly. 3/4 of a $12,000 job of high quality roofing materials ended up in a dumpster because of shoddy workmanship. Anyone else would have written a glowing review because the roof "looked" beautiful and they did a great job cleaning up; but how a roof is installed determines if it will protect your house for the long term. Before you pay someone to do any kind of work on your house do the research and find out how the job should be done; if you don't know how it should be done you won't know if you're getting ripped off. And remember, most people writing these reviews don't know either, and never went up and inspected the roof while it was being worked on.

I was very clear that I was not happy with the outcome, yet no solutions were offered. When I reported this I was told that "this is good for us to know and we will internally share the feedback." With this said, I was then told that the same thing happened in Bellevue, with a neighbor of that house complaining about the color and glare. Clearly it is a recognized problem, yet is was allowed to occur again. Additionally, the price on the gutters was very high. They were approximately 60% more expensive than another job I had done. I take responsibility for not having someone else do them. I cannot recommend them and would not use them again.
Description of Work: Reroofed low-slope roof. One story - approx. 1,700 sq. ft. house. Used TPO. Pro's: professional during interactions and execution. Negatives: Because the top of the roof is visible from the street, I made it very clear that I wanted a dark color. The dark color was significantly more expensive. I suggested tan. I was not offered a sample to ensure I would be pleased with the color (color had big a big issue.) The color is an eggshell - not far removed from white. The roof appears to have snow on it at all times. My neighbors have complained and one of them delivered a letter to my house. It is causing glare that is interfering with my neighbor's views. I was very clear that I was not happy with the outcome, yet no solutions were offered.

My mothers roof was leaking on several locations and decided to have a new one installed. I called Valentine and promptly got an appt with a sales rep and discussed my situation with him. He gave a good presentation and explained my 3 options on the type of roofing material and their cost. The rainy season had started in Washington and needed the roof installed right away but was told there was a 6-8 wk waiting period. I also had an appt with another roofing company but their cost was at least 3K more than Valentines! I decided to go with Valentine and sent them the required down payment to get on their waiting list. They eventually called me approx 1 wk before the scheduled work on the roof and assigned a key worker as my point of contact. The material and dumpster was delivered on Friday with the roof install on the following Monday. The 3 person crew showed up on time and introduced themselves. They were very professional and were very focused in completing the job at hand. The roof was completed the following day and clean up was excellent. I received a follow up call from Valentine after the install to ensure my satisfaction on the work performed.

Cody, the estimator, showed up on time in November 2015 to provide an estimate. He went around the house and it looked like he inspected the roof (from the ground). He later remarked that the house had enough soffit vents. He explained in details what Valentine Roofing will do and answered all my questions, for which I had a list of. Cody then printed out the estimates for different composite materials (CertainTeed Landmark TL, Landmark, etc...) as well as for replacing the gutters. After requesting estimates from four different roofing companies, I chose Valentine because they had the best value for the service provided (responsiveness, caring attitude, shingles, CDX plywood, valley flashing, ...) One of the four companies charges extra for plywood and valley flashing. Another was late 20 minutes and had a higher estimate. Another just provided an estimate over email. In February 2016, Valentine's Production office gave me a one-week head's up. Sallie, the project manager, was responsive and the crew leader Uldario was professional and amiable. There was some communication hiccups about when Stoneway Roofing was delivering the shingles. There was rain at the start and I appreciated that the crew did not tear off the roof when it was raining. For two days, the crew showed up and then left some time afterward because of rain. I checked in with Sallie during the start and she kept me updated. Once the roof replacement got started in earnest thanks to a sunny break, it went fairly quickly and was completed within four days. The clean-up was very thorough and I was very happy with that. Note that there were debris in the attics, and that was communicated beforehand. Later, I discovered the flue vent wasn't attached properly (the flue vent was detached and venting into the attic). I notified Sallie and Uldario showed up the next day to attach the flue vent. The rake, wall-to-roof, and step flashings were my favorite details in their workmanship. The Cor-A-Vent gave the roof a better aesthetic look instead of box vents. The Safeguard 30 underlayment supposedly let the plywood breath (reduce chance for mold), but not water to penetrate, as compared to those vapor-impermeable synthetic underlayment (only time will tell, I suppose). All in all, I'm very satisfied with the Valentine process: customer service, responsiveness, competitive pricing, and attention-to-details workmanship.

I am glad to give Valentine Roofing an almost perfect rating! Our roof is beautiful. I received 3 bids for the job and they were my middle bid. My old roof was cedar shingle and they switched it over to Presidential TL asphalt shingle. It was a big job with a steep and difficult roof line on my 21 year old Buchan house. I also had the gutters replaced and they did an outstanding job on that too! Everyone in the company were pleasant to interact with. The crew was professional and expedient with any requests I had. They kept my yard clean throughout the installation. I would definitely recommend Valentine Roofing for anyone who asks.

FANTASTIC! Jorge's team -- Valentine has something like 9 different roofing teams -- was excellent in every way. Even the dumpster firm they contracted was fantastic. They were very sensitive to our needs throughout the whole process. Because of their popularity, we had to wait seemingly FOREVER for them to get started, but in retrospect glad we did. I would also like to point out that of all the roofers I have checked out, Valentine's L&I record is AMAZINGLY clean. Other companies sometimes hire "sub-contractors" so they can "get out of" paying L&I (even though legally they are still responsible). We looked at quite a few roofers and had many of them visit and provide quotes, but we just never felt like we had a clear answer until after we met with Valentine. One final tidbit, when we visited Stoneway to take a look at single samples, I asked them about their opinion of the top few roofing companies they deal with. I purposely had NOT given ANY hint about who we were working with and the first company out of the guy's mouth was Valentine. Companies that treat their suppliers well will have their help when they need it, so I was glad to hear that.

I signed a contract on August 25th and was told the lead time was 8-10 weeks. Kes told me I would be contacted by the schedulers shortly. On October 10th I sent a mail to Kes saying I hadn't heard from the schedulers yet to which he replied "Im shocked, I have forwarded this to the proper channel." I emailed again on October 24th asking if my roof would be done before November 20th when I was leaving on vacation. He replied with Natalie's number. I called Natalie and asked about scheduling. She then told me they were scheduling out 10-12 weeks and it started counting from when the processed my contract which was a week after I had signed it which really means 11-13 weeks. I explained that I would be on vacation on November 20-30th and she said it was ?something to consider.? No one apologized for the delay and didn't really seem concerned. Later I got a form letter apologizing for the delay explaining that your sales had outpaced your projections with a $25 Starbucks gift card. When the project manager, Joe, finally did call he tried to schedule me during my vacation. In the end the job was started on December 3rd and completed the following Wednesday. This was 14 weeks after I signed my contract and paid the deposit. The roof does look nice and it's a relief to have it done. The crew was great and worked through some really horrible weather. They were extremely hard to understand though. The cleanup does leave something to be desired. There were a few shingles scattered around my house, a full clip of staples and some plastic wrap in my yard. There are nails, staples and other roofing debris in my gutters. The down spouts on the roof going from the top story to the lower level were reconnected, but the brackets fastening them to the house were not re-attached. My back yard is already a bit of a mess, but it?s hard to overlook things right on the cement walkway. I suspect it was too dark by the time they did the cleanup. Joe called and followed up on the job after it was complete. I expressed my concerns about the cleanup and he said he would send someone out to take care of it. It?s been 8 days since then and nobody has arrived. I?ve got some vacation time now so I?m just going to take care of it myself. It?s not a huge job, but I?m a single dad and don?t really need one more thing on my list. I also have a lot of roof debris in my garage. It probably should have been obvious to me that it would happen, but it wasn't. I would have appreciated it if they would have let me know up front. I've been staging a garage sale, donation run and garage run there and it's made it a bit tougher. To be clear, I don't expect that they could have done anything to prevent the debris giving that I was replacing skip sheeting with full sheets. I know my experience isn't typical since I researched Valentine on Angie's List and asked a few of my neighbors who had the roofs replaced by your company, but this was my experience. I'm trusting the roof is solid and everyone was friendly when I talked to them, it's just that the end-to-end experience wasn't very good. For a relatively large project like this I would expect better communication and coordination. Update Joe did get someone out to clean things up and re-fasten the downspouts to the side of the house. I stopped the crew leader from using nails since they should be attached with screws. He said he didn't have any screws and asked me if I had some. Eventually he went and bought some screws and re-attached them. It's a small thing, but it concerned me enough that I asked Joe to send someone else out to check is work. Joe arranged for a Saturday morning visit which is not normally a day they work, but it meant I didn't have to take time off work. I really appreciate this. After they checked out the roof I paid the balance of the job. It does look nice, now that the job is complete, and while the process was frustrating I really appreciate that Joe and the other roofer would make an extra effort to come out on a Saturday morning.

My house had a HUGE branch fall on it due to a December wind storm. I call Valentine roofing the follow day to have it inspected. Due to the high number of calls they had due to the wind storm, it took them a week to come out which I had no problems with because the roof wasn't leaking as far as I could tell. Valentine roofing was prompt with there scheduled appointment, and in the middle of a heavy rain storm went up to inspect the roof. He found were it was hit, and put a reinforcement shingle in the roof were it was hit. When I asked how much for the service he said 'no charge' . For a roofing contractor to come out to your house on a holiday week in the rain, inspect and reinforce my roof at no charge speaks volumes. When there are so many contractors that would have ripped into the roof just to get a job, it is great to have a honest contractor there. I will recommend Valentine roofing to anyone that needs roofing work.

After I had signed the contract, it took 3 months for the work to start as Valentine's are very busy! However, then the crew arrived they were very professional, punctual, and did an outstanding job of removing the old roof and installing the new one, including 2 new skylights. The crew kept everything clean and worked through some very cold weather. I am very pleased with how the new roof turned out.

Job was done professionally and in a very timely manner. The crew showed when they were expected and worked tirelessly all day long. They cleaned the area every night and were careful to move our planters & lawn furniture. Communication was excellent from the main office and scheduling was smooth. We had a total of 5 bids and felt most comfortable with the Valentine company. A very hardy recommendation.

Did not have service done. Was not provided an estimate after repeated calls and emails.
Description of Work: I had a representative from Valentine roofing come out to give us an estimate on possible roof repairs. The estimator arrived on time and told my wife that there were some repairs needed with the roof and that he would send an estimate. When I spoke to him later that day, I was told that the entire flat roof needed to be replaced and repairs would not work. It seemed like different information was communicated to me and my wife. I then asked for an estimate for both the repair and the replacement, but was never sent one even though I was told I would be sent one. I understand that Summer is a very busy time of year and roofers are overwhelmed, but I do not think that is a valid reason for not communicating and just dropping the ball. UPDATE after provider review : It is reasonable to decline a bid or service, but not reasonable to have *no* communications whatsoever. Even declining a bid can be done by actually letting the customer know that you are declining a bid. Radio silence is not professional.

Response from Valentine Roofing
Valentine Roofing did not perform any roofing work nor did we bid on this project. We feel like it is perfectly reasonable for any construction company to decline a bid or service, and that is what happened here.
