JIM'S DETAIL SHOP

My car had been stolen and recovered. Thieves made a terrible mess of it, including a really bad stench. When I picked it up the look and smell were great. A week later I sensed some residual odor and they gave it a second treatment free of charge. Super service at a fair price with no attempts at up charging .

They showed up on time and were friendly and fast.

Very professional and thorough cleaning and polishing.

My car looks like new, inside and out! Beautiful job! We'll be taking my husband's car in soon.

I received a gift certificate from a friend for my birthday for the full detail plus she paid extra because it was a black truck. I called in advance for an appointment and received May 17th, 9am. I pulled in their lot at 8:45 followed in by another car. When they opened I handed him my gift certificate and told him that I wanted my truck detailed because I wanted to get a new seat inside on the passenger side where it had worn and I wanted to get rid of the scratches that would come out because compounding was included in the package. He said they closed at 2 and it would be ready by then, the package I received said it was a 5-6 hour detailing job, 2 would be 5 hours working on the truck, I expected it to look great with all the crud gone, it is only a single cab Ford Ranger with a topper. I noticed there was about 4-5 guys working and I also noted that the parking lot had filled with a number of cars, SUVs etc. and I was hoping they were only there for a wash. I went away, they called at 1 saying the truck was finished the friend who gifted me the detail drove back with me. The truck looked very shiny from the highway and I liked my first impression, then I saw the truck. The scratches were still there, every last one and there was a white mark along the truck where the topper came down. Inside the back of the truck it was still pretty filthy and he said they had just hosed it out, I thought they might have pressure cleaned it. I noted the back window was dirty, I also saw right behind the cab where the truck bed starts a thick green scum, which I knew was pollen that had built up there and I ran my finger over it and it pealed off, it appears they never washed or touched behind the cab of the truck. Along the edges of the topper the crease was embedded with dirt. I pointed out a few things and they wiped it down, said most of the scratches were too deep and the compounding did not get them out. Inside the truck the passenger seat was still dirty and around the passenger door was never touched. The front window, which is about 5 month old, was dirty and I could tell that the roof fabric and the seats were never "steam cleaned" as indicated on the package. Inside the glove compartment was still dirty and in the holder between the seat they had cleaned it with something and a piece of paper was stuck to the side that I pealed off later. I did not really say a lot because I did not want to hurt my friend's feelings who was standing there by complaining, but I did not pull the forty dollar tip out of my pocket either. I just got in the truck and left. When my friend and I talked she say she was not happy and she was sorry, I felt badly for her. The problem with Jim's is they don't appear to know the definition of the word "Detail", because that is what was missing from the package, they missed glaring problems. This morning I took the truck to another detail garage and I asked him what needed to be done to my truck, not telling him at first it was just detailed. He said: He would compound out some of the scratches, but he pointed out the ones that wouldn't come out and why. He said that he would clean behind the cab of the truck, wash the windows and clean inside the cab and the compartments inside the cab. I said: This truck was compounded yesterday and detailed. His eyebrows went up. He said: The truck had not been compounded. I thanked him and made note of the things that could be fixed and what could not be, different from Jim's. I asked the man about the headlights that were dull, he said they could be fixed. The guy at Jim's said get new ones. I did not expect a brand new looking truck, it is a 2001, but I did expect the dirt and the crevices to be cleaned and when I found my brand new phone charges wrapped around under the passengers seat filthy and cough drop wrappers down there, I pretty much knew my friend did not spend her money with a credible outfit in my opinion And never, tell your customer you like to get out early on Saturdays when you have a sign outside that says no appointments necessary and a yard full of cars when the person you are saying this to thinks their truck, which they made an appointment for, was going to be catered to for 5 hours, your whole work day. I don't think I would recommend Jim's and I feel badly for my friend who laid out that kind of cash to make me happy and my truck happy and now she feels she disappointed me, well she didn't, but Jim's did.

I called for an appointment and the response was rushed and curt. Appointment was for Tuesday. It was never clear what time to drop it off. I emailed and asked, no response. Took the car in on Tuesday afternoon and the guy said my appointment was not until Wednesday, no problem I left the car. The next day when I went to pick up the car the job was really bad. The car was clean, but not what I would call detailed. Spots on the hood and on car door handles. Wax smeared on door seals and left in seams all over the car. No clay bar was done and an old sticker on the bumper was not even touched. On the inside there was a couple of what looked like small ink smears that were not touched. In general it was a very poor job. I think my mistake was that I told him in advance that I had a gift certificate. I had a twenty dollar bill in my hand that I was planning to tip him and I was planning on bringing my 2 other cars (that I am planning on selling soon) back if the job had been adequate. I was very disappointed and I would never go back again.

I thought the work done was excellent and the price was good for the amount of work needed to bring the car up to snuff.

It was good! It was quick. I was very happy with the results. I would use them again. The price was pretty reasonable. I would recommend them to others.

They did a good job. They even kept it overnight and gave me a free ozone to get the odors out. I'd use them again in the future.
