The service was rather odd,, the came and barricaded an area to park the car in front of the house, I went to talk to them, while they were doing the work, afterwards, they explained everything and they were very cooperative. Everything looks good after the service, They have walked me through and I was very pleased with the work that they did overall. Although they did not communicated with me when they came, but it was probably because it was too early that day.

We used Blooma to prune three large big-leaf maples in our back yard. They were very prompt in getting an estimate for the work to us and offered a solution counter to what an independent arborist had suggested. The price they quoted for the work was mid-range —- not the most expensive bid, but not the cheapest. We went with them because we felt they had the best over all approach for the work we needed to have done —- removal of several dead branches plus pruning for future health and safety. They were able to schedule the work on the date we requested and on the workday were very quick and efficient in getting the project done. The crew did a good job of cleaning up and were friendly. So why the low rating? We asked them to leave us a load of wood chips to spread over dirt areas of our yard, something we had done in the past with another tree service. Blooma did leave us a load of chips —- more than I expected but we weren’t concerned as a few neighbors had indicated interest in taking left overs. But when I inspected the pile of chips after the crew had left I discovered that they had dumped not only the chips from our job but also the chips from another job (or two?). The chips for the other job(s) included sawdust (from a stump grinding ?) and a lot of ivy leaves and roots. The chips, branches, and sawdust from the evergreen tree in the extra load did not bother me too much, but I was very upset over being left a bunch of ivy —- I have a neighbor with ivy and am constantly doing battle to keep it from taking over our backyard. Last thing I wanted was more of it taking root! I called the Blooma office that afternoon to complain and asked for one of the owners to call me back. I never received a call back. My wife and I spent a day and a half hauling 2,000 lbs of left over chips to the dump —- almost all of the neighbors who had expressed interest in taking the leftovers declined to take anything when they leaned of the ivy. And I had no luck getting any takers from Craig’s List. I included a note with my payment expressing my unhappiness and finally received back an e-mail —- which started by saying dumping mixed loads of chips from multiple jobs was standard practice —- at which point I stopped reading the e-mail. If they had called immediately to ask how they could make me happy, or even started the e-mail with an apology, I would be giving them a better rating. But obviously they don’t need to keep new customers happy so they get this low rating.

I really appreciated that they scheduled my pruning the same day as my next door neighbor's because of overlap of branches. And I liked how they emailed the procedure on how and when the bill would be received by email and that they followed through well with that.

The Blooma crew is punctual, efficient, courteous, and responsible. The task was to remove two 75 foot tall infested cherry trees located in a difficult environment. Work was completed in good time. The clean up was first-rate. Ben, the crew foreman, was knowledgeable and cooperative when a neighbor asked for the wood chips for her garden. Can't speak too highly of this outfit. I'll gladly use them again and will without hesitation recommend the company to friends.

Excellent. The tree had been topped over twenty years ago so it had many long branches growing upwards. They were able to take the tree down without getting any of the branches hitting the house.

We have a grand old tulip tree which Blooma has helped us keep healthy over the last several years. It was very prone to damage during windstorms before we started using Blooma's services. They are always quiet, professional and prompt with the service they provide. When they arrive to do the work, they review what is to be done, complete the work and then do a walk through inspection with me to ensure all is up to my expectations.

"Thank you so much for this great review. We value you as a long-term customer, and hope to take care of your tulip tree for many years to come. Warmly, The Blooma Crew"

The team who dropped off the pile of wood chips was delivering to my next door neighbors who we share a driveway with. The truck had a hard time backing up our driveway and tore down some branches on the way up and down the driveway. As they got to the top of the driveway, I let them know where the property line was and asked them to please keep the pile on the side of the people who ordered the wood chips as not to block my car in. They completely ignored my request and illegally dumped the woodchips directly behind my car, on my property, blocking my car in the driveway. It took 2 of my very kind neighbors 2 hours to move the pile so we could have access to our own driveway. I emailed and called the company asking them to move the pile. I only got an unapologetic response via email the next day. Please don't use this company. Their unprofessionalism rivals any company I have dealt with.
Response from Blooma Tree Experts Inc.
"This is obviously an issue that [Member Name Removed] should have brought up with their neighbor in instructing the dumping of woodchips in the driveway. Our company simply followed directions given to us and gave them a complimentary load of chips."

We first contacted Blooma Tree Experts about 2 years ago when we had major tree limbs down due to a wind storm. They responded quickly, took care of the damage and made recommendations for improving the health and stability of our tree. During the last wind storm we had an emergency with a lilac tree and they swooped into our yard with the choreographed precision of a team of action heroes! They have been out several times since then for trimming and maintenance of our trees and hedges. They work quickly, quietly and are always professional in communications. When a job is completed, they always check to ensure the work was done to our expectations. We are confident in their knowledge, ability and concern for the health and longevity of our treasured trees and plants

From the time that Martin, the owner-arborist came to discuss the condition and health of our very large Maple tree, to the clean-up of the sawdust it was a very professional undertaking.

After Martin’s bid on the removal the tree and grinding of the stump we had a couple of questions we hadn’t asked him. My husband was very impressed with the professionalism by the office staff. The questions she was unable to answer she called us back in a short time with it.

The tree was not only causing rocks to be dislodged into the drive going into the basement garage, damage to foundation and patio, but it was determined the tree was rotting and should be removed. Because of the close proximity to the house, they had to use a crane when cutting it down to keep from doing damage to house, drive, patio and shrubbery. The crew or four, led by Martin, was prompt arriving here shortly after seven AM. The smaller branches were cut and shredded. They cut the logs into about sixteen inch rounds and stacked them neatly. We were told that any we didn’t want would be picked up either later that same day or the next. A couple of Martin’s crew came back a couple of days later and ground the stump and did the final clean-up.

I might also add that Martin’s bid was a full thousand dollars less than another bid by a local tree service.

We would definitely recommend Blooma Tree Experts to others.

From the initial visit from Martin we knew the tree would no longer a problem. A date was set and the crew arrived promptly, fully ready to get the job done. Crew did a fine job from start to finish. Even the owner Martin came over and pitched in.
When the tree was down, the crew carefully stacked the wood and did all the cleanup.
I will use Blooma again and again. As a REALTOR I am asked frequently for recommendations for tree services. I always recommend Bloom Tree Service!

They showed up on time (actually before I was even out of bed!), the crew was professional, they were very safety-conscious, they did as much as they could to avoid causing any damage to our yard and plantings, and they cleaned every little bit of sawdust from the place before they left.  One of the crew members went over with me exactly why they had to cut certain parts of our Madrona and why they could leave other parts, etc.  I really appreciated him taking time to answer my questions.
These guys really, really know what they're doing.  We have used then once before and are as happy this time as we were last time.

Martin & crew did a great job handling the removal of a large 100+ ft,, at-risk double trunk fir tree that was in close approximation to our house and much loved maple tree.  Starting with a bucket truck to remove limbs and then finishing off with a crane to lower cut logs down to the street below, damage impact to our property was kept at a minimum for such a big job.  They did a great job pruning our large backyard fir tree too.
Their 4-man crew showed up on time and were able to get every thing done in one day, including site clean-up.  We would definitely recommend these guys for any tree removal project.

There was a bit of a miscommunication regarding the permitting process (Blooma waited until the day-of to email me regarding the City's permit; Judy apparently had to call the city the scheduled work day to make certain the inspector had in fact issued the permit). Other than that, however, things went very smoothly and my trees (two crabapples) were trimmed professionally and on the promised scheduled day.

We hired Blooma to remove a very large tree from our parking strip and grind the stump.  They did a great job.  They arrived exactly on time, and did the work safely and efficiently.
Equally important was the bid process.   Blooma was the ONLY contractor I contacted that came out and met with me in person for the bid.   The bid was clear and professional.  I felt the price was very reasonable.
Communication with Blooma was easy before and after the process as well.  They are very responsive to phone and email contact.
Overally I felt like Blooma is a very professional outfit that takes its work seriously.  I would recommend them to anyone needing tree work.

I've never written a review before but this was an exceptional and gross demonstration of unprofessional behavior that requires a buyer beware type warning...

Martin's and Blooma Tree Expert's demonstrated a profound lack of knowledge of, or disregard for Seattle permitting requirements and much worse, blamed the home owner for Blooma Tree's failure to complete the job contracted.

I obtained the permit for our tree removal from the  Seattle Department of Planning and Development (SDPD), on 04/04/14.  SDPD has jurisdiction over tree removal on private property.  The permit is still active.

I contracted with Martin at Blooma Tree Experts for the removal of a very large cedar tree on private property adjacent to the side walk.

He put off the work for many weeks finally giving us a date of 06/05/14.  He blamed City Light for the delay stating that was the soonest available power line drop date (later found to be a questionable excuse).

On 05/15/14 I emailed Martin and asked if I should go ahead and get the no parking permits from the City as required or was he going to do it.  He emailed back not to worry, he would do it himself.   The city requires the barricades and no parking notice be placed 48 hrs in advance of no parking date.

06/04/14 the day before the work , Martin had not set up the no parking barricades as required (48 hr advance).  I called him and had to leave a voice message (polite) to express concern and to ask when they would arrive.  At 10:23 that night Martin sent me an email thanking me for calling and stating that he had totally forgotten.. and Oh and by the way the job will not be done until 06/06/14.

The day of the work, Martin set up the boom truck on the sidewalk with the truck pulling the chipper on the curb in front of the house and the crew started working on the tree.  My husband left for work and once they were well started I got in the shower.  when I was all cleaned up I looked out our window and observed the tree crew cleaning up the work site preparing to leave.

Surprised, I went out to see what was up, and was advised that the work had been closed down by a Seattle Department of Transportation (SDOT) inspector.

SDOT has jurisdiction over the right of way, including the sidewalk, median strips and streets.  SDOT also includes "Urban Forestry" which has jurisdiction over the trees in the right of way.

The SDOT inspector, Daniel C. had written a violation of the codes indicating "Unlawful Use of the City's Right of Way"   Martin / Bloomatree Experts Had failed to obtain the proper permit for the boom truck in the right of way. Nor had he gotten the proper no parking permits as agreed. He had also not copied or posted the SDPD authorization for the tree removal.

SDOT requires three documents to block the sidewalk/street or use a boom truck: "Street Use General Application", "Construction Use Permit Application", and "Site Plan Template."   Martin had neglected all three.

Instead of behaving in a professional manner and taking responsibility for his failure to comply with SDOT requirements, Martin accused me of not obtaining the permit for the tree removal.  I reminded him that I forwarded him a copy of the permit and that he agreed to be responsible for the no parking permit.

He stated to me that "he never gets a permit for the boom truck" and that its never a problem if there is a permit posted. He continued to deny that I sent him the permit or that he agreed to obtain the no parking permits. (I have email verification of all)  He continued to pack up the job and left the site.

I confirmed in person with SDPD that no one had called in a complaint to their office about the tree removal,  and SDOT had received a complaint and finding no permits for the right of way, they sent out and inspector.

When the inspector showed up, and apparently not knowing the difference Martin called SDOT and rightly confirmed with them there was no permit for removing the tree in their records (that's because the tree was not in the right of way).  Had he called SDPD they would have told him immediately that there was an active, valid permit.

Our job was stopped because he didn't get the proper permitting for the right of way and boom truck, and because he didn't know the difference between SDPD and SDOT.  To add insult to injury, Martin has been exceedingly rude and unprofessional about the whole situation.  If he had only taken responsibility and owned up to his mistake I would not be posting this, but that is not the case.

I have documentation that all my statements above are accurate and truthful.

Martin the owner of Blooma Tree Experts was not an expert, was rude, irresponsible and unprofessional in the way he handled our case.   His behavior cost me a days work and then the time needed to locate another company to remove the tree responsibly

We had a large tree down on our home during the recent wind storm. Our property isn't easy to access so Marty and his crew had to work in a very tight space .When we called Marty he came out right away, gave us a fair estimate and scheduled us for the next day. No easy feat considering the job involved a large crane. They supplied us with signs to restrict parking for the following day to enable the trucks to gain access to our home. They arrived right on schedule. Marty and his crew were obviously highly skilled professionals. Attenention was paid to both the safety of his crew and the protection of the remainder of our property. By the time they left the area was neater then when they arrived. I would highly recommend Blooma and if the need arises will use them again in the future.

Blooma showed up in a timely manner on the day they scheduled.

The tree removal was quick and the pruning made the trees look better and made our back yard more useable.

They did a great job of cleaning up the residue that ended in out yard and two neighbors yards. The completed the cleanup I 1 yard even with a snarling/snapping dog in the yard.

The large tree was cut into lengths and placed in my pickup so I could deliver the wood to my daughter.

All in all I was very satisfied with the work performed.

It takes a lot for me to write a poor review, but I feel compelled to write about my experience with Blooma, which was really frustrating and full of poor customer service.
First, my service was rescheduled at the last minute to a time the following day that I wasn't able to be home. When I arrived home on the service day, just as the team finished up, my neighbor informed me that they had parked and operated their chipper in front of her house (where her granddaughter was napping) instead of mine for the entire duration of service and, when asked to move, they refused, saying they didn't have time. They had never asked me where an appropriate location for the chipper would be, and did not explain the parameters of the location needed so that I could prepare my neighbors for the terrible noise and disruption.
I later also found the crew's empty water bottles strewn around my property, and noticed that they had destroyed several tomato plants during the service.
When the stump grinder operator returned on another day (a week later than scheduled because their machine broke down) to grind the stumps, he crushed a brick wall with the machine and caused a 5-6ft section to collapse. Although he graciously apologized and said someone would come fix it within a few days, it never got fixed and I never received any additional communication from the company. After waiting more than a week, I had to fix it myself. When I contacted Blooma again to ask for an explanation and a credit on my bill, the owner was not apologetic at all and refused to give me the credit I requested.
It's a shame that the service was so poor, as I have additional tree work I need to hire someone for, and I have several neighbors who have asked for referrals. Sadly, I won't be turning to Blooma again.
Response from Blooma Tree Experts Inc.
"We are disappointed to see this poor review. We parked the chipper in the only spot available to us; we did not say we "didn't have time" to move it; we said we "couldn't move it." (The neighbor most likely did not report the exchange accurately.) The brick "wall" that was partially damaged was simply stacked bricks (the mortar had crumbled long ago), We would have rebuilt the part that was damaged, but the lack of mortar in the rest of the wall made that impossible. We DID credit this customer's account the amount she asked for and re-sent her the invoice on 9/9/14."
