The were very prompt. Did the proposal while at the house for the estimate. Workers arrived on time. They were responsive to a call back for a minor problem. Inspector said their work was (and always is) very good.

We had just purchased this house and the electrical panel was not sufficient. They were very prompt in providing an estimate, scheduling and performing the work. The electrician was very professional, organized and (from what I can tell) did a great job. We are still remodeling the house, hence we have not been living in it yet to evaluate in depth the working electrical panel. Our contractor has been using it regularly though and everything seems to be good. The work did pass the city inspection without a hitch. I would definitely recommend them. We purchased a groupon to replace the electrical panel, which resulted in a nice savings for us.
Description of Work: As You Wish Electric replaced/upgraded our electrical panel to a 200 amp panel. As You Wish Electric also replaced some gfci's in the bathroom and diagnosed a faulty bathroom light.

Justin came out and was very personable and knowledgeable. He first examined the electrical panel then we moved out to the garage for examination of my electrical concern. It was great having someone who enjoys what they do and likes a mystery. As he discovered what had been done he had no problem in sharing with me what he found. He provided me with a less expensive workable fix and a more expensive, but true fix. I choose the true fix. I will report on how that work goes after it is performed including costs. Justin also went around the house with me checking the wiring, I have some knob & tube, and grounding of the outlets. Upon his next service call he will also install GFCI units in the ungrounded units in the bathroom and kitchen. On the second service call Justin and John came out and performed the rewire of the garage and installed three GFCI units. The garage is now safer electrically and the set-up is upgraded to modern safety standards. They also found and replaced a junction box that was supposed to be for the outside and let me know that my garage light motion detector was not working. Finally, they gave me a heads up on a future work item that would be beneficial if it was done, but was not a "mandatory" item. I appreciated the professionalism and care in the work performed.
Description of Work: Electrical service call, panel check and $100 off services. The follow-up appointment was to fix the electrical problem in the garage at a cost of $679.00 and to install three GFCI outlets at a cost of $145.25. There was a permit fee of $60.00.

The first person to came out was punctual, friendly, and knowledgeable. He did a whole house inspection and gave me estimates for all the work I was considering. When the actual installer came out, there was a problem with the size of the heaters. They wouldn't fit in the wallspace. So, he recommended some alternatives, and had another employee come and deliver them. I'm not sure if they were the cheapest, but they really seem to know what they're doing.
Description of Work: They installed 2 electric wall heaters and thermostats, running a new line to the subpanel in the basement. they fixed an outdoor electrical outlet that wasn't working. They added a new electrical outlet outside on the deck. They also installed a whole house surge protector off the main panel.

I purchased my home 8 months ago and the previous owner mentioned that the driveway path lights had not worked in years. I wanted them to work so I purchased the deal in hopes that the repair would be easy. Anthony serviced my home and was able to determine the issue and fix it. He also made some suggestions which I agreed were good ideas. I also had Anthony provide me with a bid to run a new line to my microwave as my home is older and does not have a dedicated line. I felt the bid was priced reasonable given the work that needs to be performed and plan schedule them to both run the line and fix Anthony's suggestions. Overall, I was very pleased with the deal and value that I received.
Description of Work: Determined what was causing my driveway path lights to fail.

The contractor had an electrician show up for the work, and for two straight visits, I don't think any work was done. Stating they did not know what the job entailed, didn't have the correct parts, etc. Had a list of items that we were interested in, but after having to schedule more than one, just requested that only the minimal be performed which I believe was the replacement of a few sockets, specifically in the kitchen. Our house is old (1920's), but I was astonished about how much damage and how big the whole was on the replacement of one of our sockets. The whole in our wall is nearly a 1/3 bigger than the socket itself, and will require plaster work. I did not get the impression that a serious effort was made to limit the damage to our wall in the performance of the work. We have not scheduled any follow up appointments with this contractor.
Description of Work: Requested work to replace a couple of kitchen sockets, and look at replacing a line or two of knob and tube wiring, and possibly recessed lights. Would recommend being as clear as possibly could be with scheduling group. We had what I think were two visits/appointments where no work was done because the electrician stated he did not know what was needed, did not have the correct pieces/tools, description from scheduling etc. I don't think any work was done until the 3rd visit. So unless you enjoy sitting around for multiple appointments before the work actually gets done, get confirmation in writing of what is going to be completed at your appointment.

I emailed the office ahead of time with the job I had in mind. It was easy to make an appointment and Anthony did a great job.
Description of Work: We needed an outside outlet, plus a cover for a new outlet. Anthony was prompt and on time. I had just the 2 small jobs for him to do and he got right to work. He completed the job quickly, did a thorough inspection of our fuse box and left me with a few ideas of what to do with our upcoming remodel.

I was very pleased with them as they were able to get the work done within two hours which I thought was pretty cool. The only bad thing about them was that they did not put the same color switch that matched the plate. Everything else with them went really well and they were cordial. The guy who came out did not try to dough the bill in any way and got the job done in the time that was allotted.

Brandon arrived on time on February 8th to do an estimate. I explained the project, and we figured out how the cabling could be run, given the structure of the home. He gave me a bid immediately. It was a bit high, but I thought they could do a nice job. When I called to schedule service, they were flexible and available for my day off. Brandon and an assistant showed up on time, and performed the job without further assistance. 4 new internet jacks and 1 cable jack all worked perfectly. They agreed to a special request, which was to put all insulation back and caulk any holes drilled, in order to preserve the energy efficiency of our home. They were professional, easy to work with, and got the job done.
Description of Work: Installed internet and TV locations to multiple locations in my complex home. Had to fish wires into the attic through walls, and into an attached garage building. Not an easy install, but they pulled it off. Took all day.

98012As You Wish came in and performed all the work on time and on estimate. My job involved upgrading the service into this 50 year old house, installation of several new lighting and plug circuits, exterior outlets, a 200 amp service, and more. Very well done by very professional electricians. Good communications, and very easy to deal with. I highly recommend them to anyone.

They did a great job, but the technician I was working with took an attitude with me after quoting several prices. They did a quick fix on a light fixture that had to be replaced pretty soon after, and I feel like they shouldn't have done a band-aid job if they knew it needed replaced. They also weren't very good at communicating with me about the project. I was helping my father to over see this project and they often would tell him and not me or vice versa. They placed a plug-in in a very inconvenient spot in the laundry room without mentioning it. They also put in a new fuse box system and didn't explain how to use it, I had to figure it out myself when it eventually tripped.

Our initial contact with As You Like Electric was agreeable. The salesman/estimator was pleasant and we were impressed sufficiently to hire them. An estimate where items are handwritten into a form was supplied to us at that time. A formalized version (presumably fully typed out) was supposed to have been emailed subsequently, but was not. We received such a document after relations with the company turned very much for the worse, and it included what you might expect at that point: disclaimers favoring the company, perhaps anticipating a time when complaints failed to resolve informally and escalated to a forum of arbitration or beyond.Eventually, all of our complaints were satisfactorily addressed. That must be made absolutely clear. The process of getting there, however, was extremely aggravating. If you do hire this firm, make sure to get the company's position in writing what damage to your house they foresee could occur in the normal course of their work and for which they would disclaim responsibility. Consider photographing any place they might be touching so that a "before" record is established. After this experience, this is what we will do for anyone hired to work on the house. The job appeared to start out well. A bunch of guys on the job, a bunch of work getting done, it looked like things would wrap up quickly per expectations. After the first day, however, a key worker is sick, someone shows up late for the job, others get pulled to work at other job sites. My fiance gets sent to Lowes and Home Depot looking for some materials or fixture. A long crack appears in the living room ceiling. Their first response is not to say "we'll fix it", but to offer explanations about how it might have happened not by someone stepping off a joist, but by they joists taking pressure when knob and tube were being removed, or some such thing. The new electrical panel and some of the new wall outlets have noticiable cracks between their edges and the wall, i.e. a hole along an edge. "These are normal, it's not something we usually fix as part of the job." The company did indeed do so, however, after an initial try-to-come-to-a-resolution meeting with a rep, and then a second meeting at the house with the owner of the company. The owner did allow a credit for the full estimate to repair attic and crawl space insulation damage, an estimate that was prepared by the original insulation installer who did the work a few years back and came out to see what had been done. After the meeting with the owner, all of the cracks were mudded. The job failed the first city inspection. Knob and tube in the attic had not been removed. The grounding rod in the backyard needed to be sunk further so that it was below surface. There was some problem in the crawl space. To reiterate, all of these issue were finally resolved. The problem, however, was the aggravation of continually having to deal in an adversarial fashion with a company you thought was going to make your life better (which it eventually was) but only at considerable short term cost to peace of mind. The workers themselves appear competent and to have the skill sets necessary to complete the job in what we would consider a workmanlike fashion. Because this is what eventually happened. They are also very honest, having returned an engagement ring that had become lost behing the dishwasher. I think what may be the case is that once a job runs the course of its budgeted man hours, the pressure is on the crew to wrap it up and get out. I understand that this is the case in many different scenarios accross other companies. But the long and short of it is, had my fiance not been as vocal as she was, and not taken so many photographs documenting work we considered short of acceptable completion, the remediation would not have been done. And As You Wish would have been paid and gone, and we would be on the hook for a great deal more expense.
Description of Work: Electircal panel replacement and full rewire of our entire house. The house is owned by my fiance.

Response from AS YOU WISH ELECTRIC
I generally try not to post responses; I think it is good to allow our customer's reviews to speak for themself. This job was an eye opener for us and we have made some policy changes to try and prevent future upset customers. Some of the communication breakdown written about was valid. In hind sight we did a poor job on a daily basis of keeping the homeowner up to speed with the project. The failed initial inspection is not too uncommon. The entire home was rewired and the inspector found a few minor corrections for us to fix. Most of the above problems really relate to customer expectations. I saw the work of my crew first hand and was proud of their craftsmanship. The quality of work was very good and I thought they did a great job. The homeowner obviously didn't grasp what it takes to rewire an entire home. My estimator Brandon explained this to them during the initial visit. Either he did a poor job of explaining the process or they didn't understand what he was saying. Brandon and I have worked on how all future estimates will show pictures of completed homes so customers can better visualize before we start. We were able to rewire the entire home without making any sheetrock holes to fish any wires. This is truly best case scenario as typically there are a few locations we are not able to access without opening the wall or ceiling. The biggest complaint, other than communication issues, was chipped sheetrock around a few outlets and switches. This happened as we had to cut out the old boxes, drill inside the wall up or down through the wall plates, fish new wire to the location, then rebox and finish off the devices. This was minimal and unavoidable. Brandon verbally warned of this, but they were not expecting it. We took care of the sheetrock damage as they requested at no charge. Going forward Brandon will show pictures and hopefully our future customers will better be prepared for minor sheetrock damage. The other issue that happened is they were not happy with the blown in insulation in the attic after we were done. We had to remove all the old wiring and fish numerous circuits down the walls. Afterwards they wanted the insulation to look like it was before we got there. We tried to fluff it back up, but it did compress from the guys working up there for days. I agreed to pay for their insulator to redo the attic. We have never had this request before. There is basic construction practices needed to perform a complete rewire of a home. Our customer wasn't prepared for this. Rewiring a home that someone is living in has its own set of challenges. Typically this is something we excel at. We work hard to minimize power interruptions throughout the process and do a great job of cleaning up as we work. The lesson I learned from this job is really making sure the homeowner and my crews are on the same page in regards to how the project will progress. Brandon is doing a much more detailed presentation on all his bids to help eliminate future similar problems. Ultimately we strive for 100% customer satisfaction on every job. When that doesn't happen, I try very hard to learn what went wrong so we don't repeat the problem again. Sean Moncrief Owner of As You Wish Electric

Brandon arrived at our home as scheduled. He was polite and thorough in his work. He even crawled up into our attic to determine the extent of the knob & tube wiring that currently exists in our home. He provided a competitive bid on the work that we were planning to have done, and another bid for the replacement of the old wiring. He made a follow up courtesy call after providing an estimate. Though we did not go with As You Wish Electric for this project, we do plan on contacting them when we begin to replace the outdated wiring in our home.

All was great. Arrived on time. Professional appearance. They were very knowledgeable and listened well. They kept the area clean. They installed the electrical box in the firebox a few days prior to the gas insert vendor arrival. When the fireplace vendor came to install, we realized I had directed the electrical box location incorrectly. I called As You Wish in a panic, and they were able to come out to do a quick relocation and save the day. All at no additional charge.

I give As You Wish and Justin an A+ for this experience. We found out the breaker we originally installed wasn't the right size (specs on the spa documentation didn't match the actual specs on the equipment. Justin came back at no charge and changed out the break with the correct one, prior to inspection so we are exactly up to code. Again Justin was awesome. He was efficient, professional, nice to talk to and very informative. I will be calling As You Wish back for the next electrical need I have.
Description of Work: As You Wish Electric was engaged to assist in rewire for new spa arriving in 1 1/2 weeks. They were able to schedule Justin, one their electricians, to come on Monday after I called Friday afternoon. Justin was on time and very efficient at giving me an estimate. I accepted their estimate and they came back just a few days later and did the actual wiring work. Justin set his schedule to return the day the spa arrived and for a nominal additional fee hooked it up. He made sure everything was done to code and As You Wish contacted and setup the inspection.
