A Better Roofing Company

The roof on our house had not been done correctly under previous ownership. It began to leak, and had to be replaced. A Better Roofing Co. had the best price and completion time table. From the time that the job started, it only took about three days to completely tear off and replace our roof with 50-year shingles, and a special membrane roofing for some flat areas. They also did my neighbor's roof, and they are equally pleased.

We did not choose them because their prices were about 15-20% higher than other reasonable bids. We interviewed 10 companies. Some were very high and unreasonable, one was so low it was too good to be true. A Better Roofing company was among the three we narrowed our decision down to because they were professional, fair, and straight forward without the extra sales BS. They didn't talk poorly about other companies, they focused on themselves and what they could do for us.

Excellent. They did the job in a timely professional anner. The did the cleanup and everything tsaid they wpould. Its been 8months And no problems. I would use them again.

Could not be happier with the service and work done by A Better Roofing Company. They were professional, prompt and completed the job in 2 days. After they were done with the project, we had a few minor things that needed to be looked at such as the garage door making a noise from be jostled a bit from the work. They had someone out that very day to fix it and did it with a smile. I would highly recommend them to anyone!

My experience with A Better Roofing could not have been better.

The construction of our roof leaves a gap between the roof sheeting and the facial boards. We have had some rodents in our attic and I had installed screening and other things to keep them out. We asked for, and paid extra, to have sheet metal installed to eliminate the gap. They installed the sheet metal but in a way that is totally useless. I still have a 1" gap in some areas between the roof sheeting and the facial boards, just above the gutters. I complained about it and they came out to look and said that since they installed the sheet metal it was all they had to do. I will have to fix the problem when I put new gutters on this spring. I also asked about the roofing that does not look right as it is wavy and they said it didn't matter as it won't affect the warrantee. They also, as part of t he project, re-flashed my skylights, now they are not removeable as they must have glued them down. I will have to wait for nicer weather to risk destroying them to get them off, it should be as easy as removing 6 screws and lifting them off. When I had a long discussion with them about the skylights and also the fact that some of the gasket was missing the finally came out and crammed some gasket material in the hole, from the inside, because they also could not remove the skylight. I will have to spend time and money to correct what they did, or did not do.

Ed was a pleasure to talk to. He made plenty of helpful recommendations and was quick to point out the more economical fix to my problems even though it was not a service his company offered (tile repair). He's an honest, great guy and I'd recommend him to a friend in a heartbeat.

We selected the company based on yelp and Angie's List reviews. The initial sales person came out and did a thorough examination of the roof to give us an estimate, then worked with my wife to select the appropriate roofing materials. They provided a quote (which actually occurred before we bought the house) and then honored their 30 day discount (i.e. 30 days after the quote) and reset the start date for the discount to the day we closed on the house. They showed up and knocked out the entire job in a day and a half and left the house/yard as if they had never been there. Having helped my dad do some roofing jobs as a kid, it is a pretty incredible feet that they ripped off two layers of roof and replace it and after the fact I didn't find as much as a nail in the yard. At this point the roof was replaced and we still had not paid. They let us "try out" the roof for several weeks before the manager came out to give it a final detailed inspection, questions us about the crew and if there was anything they could have done better, and he even replaced a few gutter protectors that had fallen out of place before the roofing job even began. Only when we were 100% satisfied with the work done did they bring up the topic of payment. Having now had the roof for a year and having some other friends who have had roofs done by other companies, I'd say our experience was stellar! I HIGHLY recommend these guys.

had a visit for an estimate for a repair of a leak in one section of my roof.Upon inspection the vendor gave me a price and then told me for a few more dollars I could get the whole roof replaced.I was impressed as there was no high pressure sales just a no nonsense approach to getting the job done.He was professional and explained everything and gave me the folder and the complete price right on the spot.The other great thing ,there was no deposit.On the day of the install the crew arrived and went right to work.I came home early to check progress and meet the crew.The roof was 60% complete.The yard was free of debris.The original job was scheduled for 3 day from rip off to installation.They did it in 2.I came home the second day to a clean yard,not a nail in sight on my lawn,new roof,gutters cleaned out.I then received a visit 3 days later for a inspection for final payment.It was a great experience.I was relieved and got a great value and a 100 off coupon from Angie's List! This company is definitely an ''a'' company!

It seems fine - they did a good job. There were 3 or 4 guys & they were always on time. They cleaned up after themselves for the most part - I only had to pick up some nails & minor debris here & there. They worked straight through - 3 or 4 day job about 8 hours a day. They had someone come out a few days later who inspected everything, took a final look & made sure everything was done right. Four years later no issues.

They were right in the ball park for price as everyone else. I was really happy with them. They had to come back which they did right away. I have no complaints. They are very fast and professional.

The install was performed in one day and the site manager was very professional. Install went as planned with two caveats. (1) Roof leaks. The ceiling paint is peeling, and I have a bucket in my bathroom catching the leak from the ceiling. (2) The clean up was unacceptable. The clean up team sweep all the roofing debris into the storm drain which was so clogged the area outside of the drain flooded and I had to have the drains cleaned. The drain is for water only which gets pumped out of the basement to the street. It is for water run off and not designed to take on roofing debris.

They did a good job and cleaned up good. The general manager came to collect a payment and was able to explain and check my skylight issues, this after the job was completed. He told me what the problem was without any more payment. Everything went well. The general manager is really friendly, they were able to finish the job quickly.

We had a lot of communication issues with their receptionist and foreman. Due to bad weather, the work was delayed by a few days but there was no proactive communication to let us know of schedule change in advance. We had to call numerous times to get updates. The only time we saw the project lead at our home was when he showed up to pick up payment, and even at that point, he did not have details/answers to specific questions we had about work the company did to our roof. There was no follow up, per promise, after payment was made to any of our questions. We are happy with our roof, but really wish the company would improve on their customer service front. Our negative feedback is mainly on the lack of professional communication we encountered.

A Better Roofing Company had put in a new roof for us about 8 years ago. We recently had a leak around a skylight. I called the company and they sent Michael out to evaluate the problem. He told me he would have someone out in a few days to fix the problem. 4 days later, we had someone there who replaced all the roofing around the skylight at no charge. This is not the first time this company has come out to fix small problems with the roof - they have stood by their work over the past 8 years and I am completely satisfied. I highly recommend them

I was not there during the installation, but the tenant told me later they were very neat, cleaned everything up after themselves and were finished the same day they started. I checked it out the next day and I found they had done a very nice job and there were no complaints from the neighbor. I was planning on having someone work on the gutters after they were through, (some of the gutters were separating from the fascia) but they had salvaged the old gutters and reattached them. Very pleased with the job. Should have reported on this job earlier in the year, but just never got there.

I contacted A Better Roofing to come evaluate my 20+ year old roof which was covered in moss. Their representative was right on time and very polite. He did a thorough evaluation of my roof and answered all of my questions. Then he asked me if I had a push broom. I gave him a broom and he cleaned my roof! He then explained that my roof was good for another 3 years and he refused to take payment for the roof cleaning or even a cash tip. These guys are the real deal, strongly recommended!

Everything was performed as promised and the result was very good. Workers were very neat. A minor problem was fixed promptly and expertly. Excellent service.

Wow! I was really impressed with the customer service I got for a roof installed almost 7 years ago! A BETTER ROOFING COMPANY installed a 30-year roof on my house in 2005. At the time I signed the contract for the work, I said I might have solar panels installed someday. They put a note about that on the contract (not exactly in it). There have been no problems with the roof since then. I just had solar panels installed last month. I called about having the solar panel installation inspected, asked for a copy of the contract because I couldn't find my copy. They emailed a digitized version to me shortly after I called. The roof inspection was done the next business day. I got a phone call that day from Michael, who did the roof inspection. When we connected 2 days later, our conversation was fairly long, I asked him to explain a some things multiple times so I could understand it and write it down accurately. He said the solar panel install looked great, but he discovered a different problem that was a concern for future roof leaks. A bathroom ventillation fan which had been installed by a electrician a year before was installed incorrectly and needs to be re-done. He also expressed mild concern over 2 roof vents which they had installed which were changed by the solar installers to "solar blaster" fans, mainly concern over the longevity of the new-fangled solar fan technology. I appreciated the quick response and the inspector being so thorough in his work, beyond what I had asked for.

Alan conducted the estimate; he did not actually get on the roof, which is a bit like kicking tires to determine whether they are properly inflated. He approached this as a home inspector might consider a property sale. His conclusion was that the roof would last at least five more years, and therefore it would be better to clean off the moss and do a pH treatment to prevent its return. All other companies that actually got up on the roof found multiple problems which required replacement of the roof. So, not only did he give me the wrong advice, but he disqualified his company from a potential job. For the record, I also received bids from Mike's Roofing, Sound Roofing Systems, Mountain Goat Roofing, Element Smart Roofing, and North Creek Roofing; you can look at my reviews of those companies for further comment.

I dealt with Alan Scott for the estimate on a Monday. He went into great detail on what needed to get done, what materials he would be using, and how long it would take. I had two other estimates done from companies on Angie's List. I ultimately chose A Better Roofing Company based on their customer service, attention to detail and their price. I was given a very detailed contract which was fully explained to me at the time of the estimate. He also left me additional reading materials on their company including copies of certificate of liability insurance and their business license. It turned out very well and there were no surprises at the end which I find to be common on construction projects. Alan scheduled the work for Friday. His crew of two came on time Friday morning and worked the whole day until the project was complete. When they were preparing to leave the premises, I opened the closed garage and noticed roofing debris from the skylight removal that had fallen into the garage area creating a mess. Even though it was a long day, and they were starting to drive away, the workmen gladly came back and did a thorough job to finish the clean up. I had a very good experience working with this company. I would recommend that anyone looking for a roofing contractor should give this company a look at.

Had A Better Roofing Company all lined up to do the roof on the house we were purchasing with a 203K Streamlined Rehab loan. Knowing some companies do not like to deal with the paperwork of a 203K loan, we were VERY careful to ensure - before companies even came to give an estimate - that they understood this would be a 203K loan. We asked on the phone, we asked in person, we reconfirmed via e-mail - can you do a 203K rehab job? The answer was always yes so we decided to go with ABR. Until 5 days before closing, when we had to hunt them down to get the last piece of paperwork - and it was suddenly No. Alan was nice about pulling out on us, even when I expressed my frustration rather vocally, but it still left us high and dry and scrambling with closing and a wasted 3 weeks. Disappointing, especially after all these positive reviews.

Very Professional. Made it clear they do roofing, not gutters or anything else. Started on time as scheduled, reviewed with me that the roof sheathing was rotten and got the OK to replace (small roof with 3 different pitches). Cleaned VERY thoroughly before quitting for the day (including magnets for nails!), and finished a few hours into the next day. Paid special attention to the valley where it was leaking into the house (why I FINALLY got the roof replaced!), and the called to meet with me A WEEK LATER TO GET PAID AFTER I LIVED WITH IT FOR A WEEK! Best sales technique I ever experienced. They were middle-of-the-road price-wise, but I can't imagine a better service experience. Highly recommend, and will use again.
