A Better Roofing Company

The salesman, Alan, was quick to get back to me after my initial phone call and was out promptly for estimates. We were doing two houses, and the bid for one house came back very good. The bid for the other was slightly above a competitor. I didn't want to split the bids, so Alan was able to work out a "multi-roof" discount that brought the total where I needed it. They were able to schedule the work within about 3 weeks, which really helped out as I was able to schedule a lot of other contractors around their date. I was extremely pleased when they let me change the roof shingle color on one of the houses one week before the start day (I had the house painted and realized the original shingle color I choose just wouldn't work). One of the houses started right on time, although the other was a few days behind schedule. They worked through the weekend on the one behind schedule however to finish up pretty much on time. Each house was roughly a four day job. I was impressed by how quickly and smoothly the work went. The final price was right about the estimate. Overall, I'm very pleased by the quality, price and punctuality. These guys know how to get roofs done.

They were completely outstanding. They were reliable. Bid properly. They had outstanding clean-up. Not a nail in site. I would HIGHLY recommend them.

They pretty much stuck to their schedule and we were happy with it. They noticed our gutter was loose and came back the next day to fix it, which was very nice. They cleaned up and did a very good job. They worked with the contractor who was hired to fix the chimney and coordinated a time to get the job done without troubling us. We got three estimates, and theirs was about the middle, so we were satisfied with the price.

The estimate guy measured everything and he was very good. We had a few estimates from other companies but this guy got up on the roof to take a closer look and he also figured in our skylights in the bid. They finished the job in only about three days and they left without leaving any debris behind. They didn't ask for any money upfront and the owner came back to do an inspection with me to make sure I was happy and that is when I paid them. They are a very good company to work with.

Fairly large home with some roofline complexity complete in three days of solid hard work by 5-man crew. Great work, professional results.

It was great overall. They had a very good work crew, and they were very efficient, it only took a few days. They cleaned up well, and everything went on schedule. The roof looks great.

They had to delay one day because of rain, but they called in advance. The supervisor came every morning to check on the progress. They cleaned up very nicely and I was very impressed with that. They stayed late the second night to finish up. The four men that did the work worked very hard. I thought that they were exceptionally good.

Everyone in this company we had contact with: the estimator (Alan), the roofing crew and supervisor (Angel), and Michael, who followed up on the job, was punctual, professional, and thorough. I had done quite a bit of research on roofing products and services before Alan showed up; he answered every question I had and thoroughly explained the contract and the work the roofers would do. I was impressed that this wasn't a "sales job"; Alan was honest about what needed to be done and gave us options but told us what he thought wouldn't be necessary on our roof (and why). Within a couple of days Alan also mailed us a complete list of all the houses in our area they had reroofed as well as several contacts. The actual work went smoothly and on time (Alan said maybe a day, but plan on two; the crew finished midday on the second day). Before they started, they protected the basement windows with plywood and our shrubs and perennials with tarps. When they left the first evening, they cleaned up most of the debris; when they finished the job, they cleaned up thoroughly. The worker who picked up the dumpster went back up the driveway with a bucket to pick up any debris (such as roofing nails) that the crew might have missed. After he left, I couldn't find anything they had missed. We didn't pay the company anything (nothing up front, like some companies) until Michael followed up a couple of weeks afterward. He told us to call him if there were any issues/questions about the job. Based on our experience with the company, I have no reason to doubt that they would be responsive to a customer's concerns. Oh, and the roof looks gorgeous.

They were really prompt in returning calls for the estimate. They were very thorough in explaining exactly what they were going to do. Their estimate was really accurate. We had a really great experience with this company.

I received price quotes from several roofers. A Better Roofing and two others were all reasonably priced. A Better Roofing did a very good job. The person who they sent out to quote me, Alan, started with quoting the basic roof and then we worked up from there. I like that business practice. To of the other companies wanted to quote me on a roof with all of the options from the very beginning. I didn't feel like I was getting a sales pitch with A Better Roofing like I was with some of the others. All of the options were explained to me and I had choices. I did a lot of research which made me very knowledgeable prior to being quoted. The A Better Roofing installers worked very hard and completed the roof in one day. The roof looks magnificent! But I do have to say that without Angie's list, I would have never went with A Better Roofing. Their contract is very complicated and you get the impression after reading it that they aren't liable for damages to your house or property. I brought this up with the estimator and he assured me this wasn't the case. It was the reviews on Angie's list that made me decide to overlook some of the wording in the contract. I think if the contract was re-written, they would get more business.

They came out and gave me a quote and a schedule. They told me to pick out the type of shingles I wanted. They were on time. They were done in about two days. They did well cleaning up and there were no surprises with extra costs. I was very pleased with them.

The bidding process and the installation went perfectly. Everything was spelled out in advance. Options were clearly explained and I never felt pressured into purchasing "extras" that didn't seem important. The work crew showed up exactly as planned. They completely removed the old roofing and installed the new roof in one day! Everything was done in a professional manner and the workmanship was excellent. Our yard has many plants growing right up next to the house, but the crew was extremely cautious and the clean up was excellent as well. When the dumpster was delivered to our driveway, I mistakenly left my wife's car in the garage. I called to see if they could move it so we would get the car out and offered to pay any extra fee that might be incurred. They came back and moved the dumpster within 30 minutes and didn't charge me for their extra effort.

I called A Better Roofing Company for an estimate on re-roofing my house. Their estimator arrived on time and after an inspection advised me that he thought my roof might be too low pitched to qualify for a warranty. He called his boss and confirmed that, as much as he would like to do the job, my roof pitch was below that required by the shingle manufacturer's warranty. He was very professional about it and said his company was very serious about making sure every job they did was fully warrantied for the life of the shingle.

The shingles were terrible on the roof so we started taking bid on the job, there were two other companies we had looked at. There was a little bit of a wait for them to come. The actual work took a day and a half. They really stayed task with the job. They cleaned up well after themselves and were very careful with my flowers.

This company is a precision machine. The cost was only $300 over the estimate because of replacement of some of the ship lap. They also did not want any kind of deposit or money until it was established that the finished product met our expectations. It was delay by one day because of weather and it was completed in 2 days! The clean up was superior. After approx. 2 days a gentlemen from the company came and went up on the roof to make sure all the work was done correctly. Then an appointment was made for someone to come to the house to go over the bill and then I paid the bill.. The communication and level of works was superior!! I would recommend them in a heartbeat!

They arrived on-time and completed the job in two days instead of the quoted '3'. Cleaned up after themselves each day. Did no damage to any other part of the house, yard, or plants. The Roof looks great.

Company rep was on time, polite and provided complete information on the repair that was needed but explained they would not do it as they do mainly complete roofing jobs - not minor repairs.

Removed old and put on new. House is about 1425 square feet on upper floor. Job took two days. It was done while I was away. Neighbors said they worked very hard. They did a very good cleanup.

Very pleased. I also liked seeing "Jose", (or Juan) whether he's dressed as a bunny, chicken or spiderman, as I drive by.

Overall, well. The actual work was performed excellently - from both the roof installation, to how quickly they finished after starting, to cleanup. My own nits were with scheduling (they were a few days late from their original scheduled date, though weather played a big part), and communication - I never received as many promised updates on the schedule as they indicated I would. However, it all ended well. I'd use them again!

The only estimate that was prepared on site of the 3 I got. Estimator seemed knowledgeable. I felt the other bidders were offering a slightly better job. If I had a tighter budget, I would have been comfortable using them. Estimated cost was $17,000.

From the moment Alan came out he was direct with no fussing around. He told me exactly what we needed, when and what we should expect to pay price-wise. We obtained 4 quotes and A Better Roofing was the lowest but they had the best response time and could guarantee their work. The installers were very hard working and worked even on the weekends to complete the project. I did especially like they didn't expect me to pay the balance until the supervisor came out and inspected the roof.
