"Harold and his crew did an amazing job. H&M gave us the lowest bid on removing three large evergreens trees. The high bid was 3 times what Harold's quote was! Harold and his crew were prompt, professional, considerate and went way above and beyond our expectations. Thank you H&M!"

They are reliable, professional, and, to our knowledge, certified to meet industry standards for carpet restoration. "Rafael came over the same day that I called. He is knowledgeable, professional and answered all my questions and concerns. He checked for moisture indoors and along the wall outside to determine what caused the problem and to rule out a deeper issue such as a leak or moisture problem. There were peculiar variations in the moisture readings taken on the cement slab so he recommended calling California Leak Detection company for further investigation into possible leaks. (A plumber from Ca. Leak Detection charged $200. to come to the house. He did not use any instrumentation. He was not able to detect any reason for a problem in the closet. I wouldn't use Ca. Leak Detection again.) I appreciated the time and care that Rafael took and he didn't charge me for coming to look. I have spoken with Rafael since and I may use his company to clean and disinfect the carpet."

Carpet Installation questions, answered by experts

Taking carpet off stairs is an easy but multi-step process you can usually do yourself. If you have the right tools, time, and oomph to finish the job, removing carpet from stairs can be an easy-to-medium difficulty task, depending on your stairs, the type of carpet installed, and how willing you are to get your hands dirty. It’s important to review the process, gather the right tools before you begin, and follow a tutorial or directions while you work.

While it's possible to cover asbestos tile with carpet, it's not recommended. Encapsulating tile beneath carpet doesn't eliminate the health risks. Over time, the asbestos tiles could degrade, releasing fibers into the air and potentially contaminating the carpet. Disturbance during carpet installation or removal might also release fibers.

Installing carpet tile takes a pro a few hours per room, while experienced DIYers may take a little longer. However, that does not factor in the time needed to remove the old carpet. Also, if there are issues with the subfloor, fixing it will add to the overall time it takes to complete the installation.

Carpet installers use furniture sliders or blankets to protect your furniture during the installation process. They handle each piece with care to minimize the risk of damage. Additionally, they may employ techniques such as lifting and shifting furniture rather than dragging it across the floor to prevent scratches or other marks. If you have particularly delicate or heavy items that need to be moved, discuss special handling with the installers beforehand.

Yes, carpeted stairs are generally considered safer than stairs with hard surfaces like wood, vinyl, or tile. Carpet provides more traction and friction, which helps reduce the chances of slips and falls. Additionally, if a fall does occur, carpet offers more cushioning, which can lessen the severity of an injury. While hard surfaces can look great, they are often more slippery. However, it's worth noting that some carpets, especially if they are new, dirty, or have a slick texture, can also pose a slipping hazard. To improve safety on any type of stair surface, you can add traction treads to increase grip.
