Northwest Electric & Solar

Electrical, Lighting, Ceiling Fans,

About us

I have always wanted to learn and do something about solar in Washington, I went to get trained and certified in the field. I have found another love in my industry….. free electricity using the sun! As an electrician and solar installer, we can get the project done faster and less expensive than anyone else around. Basically cutting out the middle man in both projects. We can also figure out ways to drop the usage of watts in the home by using different methods of products in the electrical industry, lowering your house bills and “ going green “. I have always had a passion for my work and take great pride in the work that I do. I have always had great and long relationships with customers, contractors and inspectors. As an electrician, I can say that I can offer just about anything under the sun…. Additional email - [email protected].

Overall I was pleased with the outcome. The tech, Jeremy, who came to do the work, was punctual, explained what needed to be done (to move my light fixture, he had to drill some holes in the ceiling), and completed the work in a timely and tidy fashion. My new light fixtures look great and are a huge improvement on what I had before, and I would never have been able to install them myself. The only negative was that they had to reschedule my original appointment and I didn't find out until I was already home from work waiting for them and then I had to call them to see if they were coming. I was told they were behind schedule due to unforeseen circumstances and they rescheduled me for the next week. I totally understand that these things happen, but it was a bit of an inconvenience. However, I would definitely work with them again.
Description of Work: Angie's List Deal - $99 for 2 hours of service -- they installed two ceiling light fixtures including re-positioning one of them to center it in the room.

The installer can on time, did a quick and efficient job. However, I did not understand that any cutting through the drywall would not be repaired. I now need to find someone to fix the hole in my ceiling. That should be explained in larger print on the offer.

I emailed him to tell him what the work was. He responded the same night asking for my address and saying he could schedule me from there. I emailed him again Sunday night as I hadn't heard from him, and I asked some questions concerning the work to be done. He emailed me back with no apology but said the 14th was available. I emailed him one last time, asking my work-related questions again about the switches and he hasn't answered me. I don't believe this is good customer service.

I am sorry that you feel this way. Email is not always the best way to get a hold of me, because some of the times it gets put into my junk mail and I miss it. I did email her to call me and we can talk about things going on. I will try to keep better track of my junk mail. Thanks

A charming and very young man showed up to perform the service. He removed the fan from the box, carefully read the instructions and installed the fan. Several weeks after the service, the chain installed with it stopped working and it only works at full speed or nothing. Light is stuck on. Now that I'm writing this, it never occurred to me to call them again in case they could stop by for a check. This is my fault for not attempting a resolve.

Overall I'm glad I had the switches looked at and fixed. I wish he could have installed the outside plug-in and put a new plug-in in the kitchen for me but ............. I was a little disappointed. I guess these two things would have had to be arranged ahead of time. He was finished very fast and left.
Description of Work: I needed a few of my electrical switches reworked as they were not doing what they should. The first switch was not providing power when the light was off. He fixed this but shortly after he left ( couple of weeks) it went back to being stuck and I couldn't get the hall way light to work. Not a big deal but it is why I gave him a B. The next switch would not go on or off unless you hit the switch 5 to 8 times. Fixed this and it has continued to work. I wanted another plug- in in the kitchen but he told me he couldn't do it unless my tile backspalsh came down? I also wanted an outdoor power plug-in but he said he couldn't go thru brick. I was disappointed he couldn't do a few of the things I wanted. That was it. He was here and gone in less than an hour.

Purchased the Angie's list promotion. Called Derek, received a call back within a day. Scheduled a time to come out and quote the job. The job was to move 3 Chandeliers, change out some wall pugs and a few other items The major task was to install a large chandelier on a 20 foot ceiling that did not have an existing fixture box I was aware that the work would exceed the promotion amount. Derek quoted a very fair price and we scheduled the work I was a bit apprehensive about having the dining room chandelier hung. The results are great. Jeff was very particular about hanging the fixture at the correct height and centered in the location I requested. All the work performed met my expectations. When I received the final invoice, I had a question on an item. I email Derek and he immediately resolved the issue. I would use them again and am more than happy with the service, communication and the completed work. Very professional and concerned about customer service.

The electrician performed some basic services like replacing a light switch in the laundry room and checking the outlets to make sure they all were active. We initially scheduled for an electrician to help us understand why a specific light outlet continuously burns out lights. His answer was to replace the light bulb. After we switch to a brand new light bulb, it burned out a few days later. We had done this several times. I think the electrician is good for basic services, I don't feel confident about the technical abilities of the electrician that came to our home.

I contacted NW Electric & Solar and scheduled to meet at my rental property on December 6th for an estimate on a couple of simple projects. I waited at the rental for over 45 minutes past our scheduled meeting time and then called the company. It went to voice mail but within a few minutes I did get a call back. The electrician told me he was running late due to an inspection but could be at the location within a half hour if I wanted to wait. I agreed, as the rental house is a long distance from my home and with the traffic it can take well over an hour for me to drive there. After about another 20 minutes or so, I got a call from the electrician telling me he was stuck in traffic and couldn't make it that day. We talked about the scope of work again and he offered to do the repairs at a reasonable cost honoring an Angie's List special that his company had run. I agreed and I thought all was settled. After contacting my tenant, I emailed NW Solar the tenants contact information and the tenant and NW Solar coordinated a day and time for the work to be preformed, December 26th. The day arrived and my tenant arranged to be home but the electrician never showed up or even bothered to call. I also received no further emails or calls from the company to explain their no show.
Description of Work: Extremely disappointed.

I purchased 2 hrs of electrical work from Northwest Electric from Angies List. My original conversation was with Derek, owner of Northwest Electric. We arranged for a date and time for the installation of a generator transfer switch the following week. Shortly before our appointed day/time Derek contacted me and asked if we could push the morning appointment to later in the afternoon. That wouldn't work for me, but it was no problem for us to agree on an alternative day/time. Northwest Electric employee, Dylan, called me from Seattle (we live in Marysville) and indicated that he was going to be 15 or 20 minutes later than our appointed time, due to traffic, but suggested that I use the time to determine which circuits I want to run off the generator in case of power loss. I appreciated the heads-up on late arrival, and the suggestion concerning the circuit selection, but I had already completed that task. It spoke well of Dylan's foresight, however, since that could have saved me, and him, time for the installation. Dylan was knowledgeable, friendly and professional during the installation. A test of the installation after about 1 hour and 15 minutes revealed everything working perfectly.
Description of Work: Dylan from Northwest Electric came to our home and installed the transfer switch needed for our home back up generator installation. This necessitated mounting the switch on the wall and rewiring the main electric panel to run 6 circuits through the transfer switch in order to allow those circuits to run off of our home generator, while isolating the generator current from the main utility electric grid. We provided transfer switch and necessary breakers...Northwest did the installation to code. Service was promptly and professionally completed.

Derek showed up at the agreed to time. The overall installation took less time than estimated. He used care in doing the installation in a way that caused the least disruption and impact to the existing finished basement laundry room where the electrical panel is located. He also went through all the areas in the house that he recommended be hooked up to the 6 circuits. He was very helpful in going through the whole process and at the end explained how the generator would be hooked up to the switch. He also told me he would come back out and show me how to do the actual hookup once I purchase a generator. The whole experience was very good.

The young man representing Northwest Electric and Solar showed up promptly at our home on a Friday morning. We had bought an Angie's List special deal, $99 for two hours. We showed him our microwave that blows the circuit if it's running simultaneously with our kitchen and dining room light, especially when we've had outdoor Christmas lights on. We pointed out that we're unable to vacuum and run the microwave at the same time if the vacuum is plugged into our living room wall. Our home was built in 1979 and we wonder if the fuse box needs some work. We expressed concern about the safety of the fuse box blowing the circuits so easily. After we showed him the microwave problem, we also discussed that if there was enough time, we'd like the electrical components our hot tub disconnected. They resided in a shed that stored the pump, gas heater and other hot tub components. While he did a good job with disconnecting the hot tub, we felt we lost the second hour our sale price had included. He took care of the hot tub, but our fuses still short-circuit if we accidentally run the microwave while some lights are on. He said we need another line from the fuse box to the microwave and would get back to us, but has not. The young man did everything he could; the company didn't follow up with what needed to be done to put in a second line from the fuse box to the microwave.
Description of Work: We were getting rid of our hot tub purchased in 1990, had the electric connections severed so we could safely cut up the hot tub and take the pieces to the dump. The young man disconnected the hot tub in about an hour, cleaned up all resulting debris. He said he felt his boss could give us a quote on the microwave after looking at it. He would have him contact us.

Our microrwave oven, which had worked for a year without a problem after we installed a new outlet, suddenly started tripping the circuit breaker. Jeff, from NW Electrical and Solar, diagnosed our faulty wiring problem and made repairs quickly and professionally. He not only repaired the problem, but showed 2 do-it-yourselfers what we had done incorrectly. Our do-it-yourself days are over. Next time, we'll call for Jeff! In fact, we are scheduling two more projects for him as soon as possible. He even swept up after himself.

Super disappointing experience with this company. I originally arranged to have a bid done in early November--someone came out to my house and spoke with me. The person who came to the house was lovely, very friendly and provided great information for me. He told me a bid would be emailed to me in a few days. Fast forward to January--- today. No work has been done because these people do not care to respond to my inquiries- apparently they are not interested in doing the work? After multiple phonecalls and emails-- I finally got a bid in mid December. After the bid I tried to arrange a date to start work....no response to any of SEVERAL emails. As of today, I have heard nothing from these people. The person who I had a few contacts with, Derek-- was always quick to apologize and assure me that he would send a bid (I must have contacted them 6 or 7 times just to GET an initial bid) and then he would never do it. Once he did it- he ceased responding at all. Business must be great for these guys, they do not need to respond to potential customers.
