"D&T Excavating (Josh and Richard) do excellent work! We hired them to resurface our driveway to the house. Their price was very reasonable, compared to their competitors, that we also hired them to put in a new driveway to our shop area. Josh and Richard took the time to thoroughly evaluate our property. They are very easy to work with, listen to your concerns, and remedy any problems you might have. We are extremely pleased with the work that they did. Josh and Richard are very professional, have an outstanding work ethic, are responsible, efficient, and did a great job!!! I highly recommend D&T Excavating if you want quality work done at a reasonable price."

Excavating questions, answered by experts

A joint utility trench, or joint trench, is a long, buried ditch on a property that contains two or more utility lines rather than running the lines in multiple trenches. Some utilities, like gas and electric or electric and communication lines, are better suited to joint trenching, while others, like water and sewer, are not allowed to be in the same trench.

Yes, trenchers can go through gravel. Gravel is made up of smaller, softer rocks that certain trenchers are able to cut through. Just be sure to use a rock wheel trencher or chain trencher, both of which are made to cut through rocky landscapes and gravel pathways without dulling the teeth or chain.

If you’re planning to dig on your property, you’ll need to check for underground utility lines. Call the national call-before-you-dig 811 number. Once connected to an operator, you can schedule a site visit to mark underground lines. This way, you won’t accidentally dig into pipes and can cause major (read: costly) issues.

The cost to drill a well varies, with a national average of around $5,500 for a 150-foot well. However, prices can fluctuate significantly based on several factors, including your location, the required well depth, geological conditions, local regulations, and the specific drilling methods used. For the most accurate cost assessment, it is best to research and get quotes from local well-drilling professionals in your area.

Almost any kind of home can have a wine cellar or cabinet installed. You’ll need an area where a concrete floor can be put in, along with the necessary insulation, climate control, and ventilation systems. If you think of yourself as an aspiring sommelier, an underground wine cellar may be ideal, but it will cost significantly more.

What you choose to install really depends on your budget and how many bottles you’re looking to store.
