"I tried Sod for my yard twice but my German Shepard killed it. I figured I give this a try and it has been two weeks so far and I feel it is one of the best things I have done. Yard looks great and the crew that put it in did an awesome job. They did a lot of work to level out the yard and to secure the turf down. Anyone is welcome to come and check this out in Lowell Ma. "Drew and his team did a great job on our new yard. They cleared out brush and poison ivy from a tremendously overgrown area that had been neglected for decades. Very happy!"

Landscaping questions, answered by experts

Surface-level tree roots might only pose a small threat, such as being a tripping hazard or obstacle when you mow your lawn. But if mature tree roots start growing in the direction of your home’s foundation or plumbing system, it could be a real problem. Cutting small tree roots out before they grow too large can keep your home safe without removing the whole tree.

The duration of a lakefront landscaping project is determined by its scope, environmental conditions, and weather impacts. It often takes several weeks to a few months to complete.

Late August, September, and mid-October are the ideal months for planting a young tree. However, the best time to plant a tree ultimately depends on when the weather transitions to fall-like conditions and eventually winter frost. As long as the hottest days of summer have passed and the ground hasn’t frozen yet, you can still successfully plant trees.

The average cost for landscaping is around $3,500, but prices can range from as low as $200 for simple DIY projects to $14,000 or more for extensive work. Several factors influence the final price, including your geographic location, yard size, project scope, chosen materials, site preparation, and the type of landscaping involved. Professional landscaper labor costs typically range from $50 to $100 per hour.

For a smaller budget, you can focus on softscaping projects like adding mulch, flowers, and shrubs, which might only cost a few hundred dollars if you do the work yourself. A budget of around $5,000 could cover projects like a simple patio, new plants and tree trimming, or a water feature. More extensive hardscaping projects, such as pergolas, patios, and walkways, can push the budget to $14,000 or more. For example, a flower bed installation averages between $800 and $3,000, while landscape lighting installation can cost from $2,000 to $6,000.

Costs for lakefront landscaping are influenced by project size, choice of plants and materials, labor, and any additional features or structures desired. Projects can range from a few thousand dollars to extensive transformations costing much more.
